I don't know what happened? I am literally scratching my head. I started BandLab Assistant and it asked me if I wanted the updated version. I said yes, and it gave me the option to dl Cakewalk. I am confused. It is downloading Cakewalk by BandLab as I type (about 45%, so far). If this works, I am ecstatic. Man, what a relief. You can't believe how frustrating it was to hear all you people talk about how great it was, and not be able to get it. I sincerely apologize to anyone with my questions regarding the download. I don't believe it. YES!

Ok....as noted above, BandLab assistant appeared to finally work for me, however, it has frozen while showing a 100% download amount. When I go to the little "gear" symbol on the top left, it shows me that it is still checking. It has been checking for almost 9 hours. Any suggestions to move forward at this point would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey, Duke, I've been following your "journey" to install the new BandLab version. I hope it is up and running for you soon. I actually encountered the same multiple login requests just like you did. I couldn't figure out why it kept asking me to register, or something like that. Finally, I didn't do anything different, but it eventually logged me in and I'm all set. I was actually holding off my download of the new Cakewalk by BandLab because of the wall you have hit. But, I decided to hit the download button tonight, and it was a seamless process. No problems. I'm up and running, so I just wanted to encourage you to continue to get help and ideas here at the forum. If I find anything that will help you, I'll pass it on. Rock on!

Hi there, and thanks for the last update. Since then, the language of my installation has changed automatically to Spanish. Do somebody know how can I change the Language of my Cakewalk back to english? I didn't find it in "Preferences" menu. I do speak in Spanish, but I prefer to use Cakewalk in English, because some audio tools have more coherent and universal names in English than in Spanish (not only in Cakewalk). Thanks.

The Cakewalk Command Center setup can change the language setting. To access the setup screen click the gear in the upper right on the Cakewalk Command Center.

This is a symptom of the fact that BandLab assistant launches the Cakewalk installer silently so it prevented the language prompt. We'll improve this for the next update. For now follow scooks suggestion if you have command center. If not (e.g. you upgraded from X2 or earlier) then you can either do a uninstall and reinstall of Cakewalk (which will then prompt for the language). Alternatively if you are comfortable with editing your registry you can modify the following registry key and change the value to "English" HKLM\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Language

I will try it, then. I knew I had to change the language in Command Center to affect SONAR's language, but I didn't expect it would affect Cakewalk by Bandlab. Thanks a lot, both Scook and Noel::.

Ok, I am pleased to announce that I have successfully downloaded Cakewalk by BandLab. I started by going directly to the BandLab site and downloading BandLab Assistant 3.08. That apparently made a difference for me. It was a challenge, and I had to do some real searching to find the exe file as it never quite got to the automatic install stage. Cakewalk.exe came in at 557,912 KBs while the instruments.exe came in at 919,667 KBs. Theme Editor came in at 18, 550 KBs. The manual install worked smoothly and it retained all my previous setup choices from Sonar Platinum. When I booted it up it immediately directed me to three projects I have been working on over the last few days, complete with vsts, vstis and settings that I had used for those sessions and including automation. It seems to be working smoothly with no issues and shut down cleanly. I am pleased to be back in the loop (pun intended). I do want to thank anyone who was kind enough to offer suggestions. All in all, I am happy to be back in the saddle, so to speak, and look forward to continuing my relationship with Cakewalk by BandLab. I do plan on supporting them since they are indeed supporting me. Thank you.

Just updated and can't find the theme editor. Looked in all the obvious places (Preferences/Display, Utilities). Also, BA keeps telling me an update is available. I downloaded and installed everything available but it keeps saying there's a new update. EDIT: Nevermind, just discovered Theme Editor is not built into the main app but is a separate app. Although I chose download and install, it just downloaded the installer and didn't install. I found the installer in the BA download folder and manually installed.

AxlBrutality Edit: Still freezes, but doesn't seem to be crashing Cakewalk or throwing errors. Still searches a lot of unnecessary folders though...
The tool tries to err on the side of caution by checking a lot of folders for CWP files. I can narrow that list further for the next update. By freezes do you mean it permanently halts or just stalls? Which path is displayed when its frozen? Maybe its a permissions issue since I was able to scan a full system without any freezes. I'll give it a try on a machine that has a lot more data and see..
It hangs up for several minutes some times, and freezes ("Not Responding") other times. Idk. The freezing is much, much less common than before. It seems like it just really has a hard time with some file paths still. But honestly, I'm just glad it's not straight up crashing the program/computer altogether anymore and it's actually working. Basically just wanted to let you know it's working, but still might have an issue or two. I don't recall which file path specifically it's hanging up on, but I do remember it was completely unrelated stuff in other program data folders, and also in C:\Windows and C:\Windows.old. It also does not always stall out on the same path, which is strange. Edit: Just ran it again and this time it only hung up on C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\servicing\Packages. Stalled out for about 5 minutes, acted like it was gonna crash, and then decided it was okay. (Side note, not sure why I have a Windows.old folder, as I bought this machine straight from the factory and did not do a reinstall of the OS or anything...) Again, I want to clarify that it's much, MUCH better than it was before. And thank you very much...I always worry stuff like that goes unnoticed/unprioritized. Is there a possibility in the future that we could just have the option of telling it where to look? I'm pretty sure most of us know what we're doing and where our files are. I know that personally I'm a stickler for file management. Maybe have a default setting, but changeable for advanced users or something?

I've been asking for this for years.
Apply settings from a track template to an existing trackYou can apply settings from a track template to an existing track, without affecting the existing track’s clip data or track automation. To do so, right-click in the Tracks pane and select Replace From Track Template > [track template name] or select More Track Templates on the context menu.

That Windows.old folder apparently gets created if you install a major windows update. Maybe the manufacturer did it if you don't recall doing it. See this article on how to get rid of that folder. I had that same folder on my PC. Removing it via disk cleanup will make clean audio run much faster. I'll try and also skip that folder explicitly if found. >>Is there a possibility in the future that we could just have the option of telling it where to look? I think the CWAF tool has some customization but it has an exclusion list rather than an inclusion list. I think having a full inclusion list might be a bit overkill. Maybe we could have a checkbox that says look in "Only look in Project Folder" or something.
