Ez Drummer 2 - Impressions?
Of those who have it loaded and test driven. What do you think?

It looks like it will lead the pack for a great songwriter's drum tool. Looking forward to your impressions.

My initial impression is I wish I was downloading this at home and not at the studio (our download speed here is dreadful) but that it's on it's way as I write. I'll keep ya posted.

Our internet at the studio sucks too, the director of the facility has been promising cable speed for the past 6 months. At our last tenet meeting we were told "we should have it in 30 to 45 days" I should tell her "I'll have your rent check in 30 to 45 days too" Guess I'll be lunging my PC home to do the install and updates

I'm loving it. I downloaded it earlier today and just been playing around with it. It really lives up to my expectations. Sounds are great and the whole song/groove manipulation works a treat! I would normally do my drumming live or program it, but I certainly can see me using the new functionality.

Yes, your expansion packs get updated. You will know that they are update by the new graphics and the presence of new presets for them. You may have to run an update separately for your existing EZXs. I noticed all of my EZXs had an update indicated in my products page.

You can also drum your grooves into the Song Track and then use the Play Style Editor to juice them up a bit or add some extra percussion.

Yes, your EZXs will work in Superior but you won't see the additional mixer presets available. There is an update coming out for Superior that will allow you to use the new EZD2 presets. The new midi grooves for the New Modern and New Vintage kits are available to Superior but as of now the kits are not showing up in Superior. I think the update will take care of that, as well. I haven't seen the Superior update yet so I am going by what the video blog said. Honestly, for the last 2 - 3 songs going out of my Gatortraks studio, I've use EZdrummer 2 for everything. I've been running the betas for production since the first one was announced. I am thoroughly spoiled by the Tap to Find, the Song Creator and the Play Style editor.

Can't wait to test it. Download went just fine and I'm currently installing it - but I'm having a heck of a time trying to access my other product's upgrade so I'm thinking that the authorization process may not be as easy as the download was...

Up and running - first thing, I can't seem to locate the option to select kits. I can select mixer presets which will load the appropriate kit, but I can't seem to find the menu which allows you to pick, say either the Vistalite or the 60's Ludwig... The manual is of no help thus far - I certainly hope there's something I'm overseeing. I don't care for mixer presets, but some of the kits I own like The Classic offered 4 different kits, and I'd like to be able to easily pick say, the Yamaha or the Craviotto.

Hey Mod, Will the old presets still be available in the upgrade? Yes, I noticed my expansion packs all had upgrades available as well. [but before upgrading] Asking if we should save presets somewhere before the upgrade, or if they'll all morph over.

It finally finished downloading just as I was leaving the studio for home. Unzipped the file into a folder. Noticed that inside the install folder were some more zips. Remember reading the...natch...instructions to unzip the main file. Do I need to unzip all those others in the install folder or will they self extract during installation?? (which I'll do tomorrow)

I've tried pretty much everything but there doesn't seem to be anyway to access drum kits other than via mixer presets. I can hardly believe that they've merged that stuff and didn't leave the option. Am I the only user to only use the flat/route out mixer preset wanting to retain the ability to select the drumkit as a whole w/o having to build it piece by piece? That's one HUGE disappointment for me.

Nevermind - there's an option in a submenu when you want to replace a piece of the kit...

Download and install went fine. It installed on top of version 1. Found previous ezx's. Everything works fine. Tap 2 find, Song Creator and Edit play style are great tool for song writing. I have always had problems with finding the right loops from an alian library. This is a big step forward to getting the right drum feel for a song. I am happy with it. You can build a complete song structure from within ESDrummer2 and I will try to work with that but I think the right place to arrange the structure of a song should be in the DAW somehow.
