dimelives1 Here's another example of this bug that you all can (probably) replicate: 1) Start an empty project in X1. 2) Insert an instance of Session Drummer 3, and load the Steven Slate Sizzle Kit Dry. 3) Run the Step Sequencer from SD3, and insert a few hits from the Bass Drum (note 36). 4) Apply the PX-64 to the bass drum's instrument track, and adjust the following values to these custom parameters: - Activate the Shaper, adjust the Attack to 107.2%, the Weight to 77.9%, the Decay to 66.9%, and the first Color to 46.0 - Activate the Equalizer, adjust the Low Level to -2.6dB, and the High Level to 4.6dB 5) CLOSE PX-64 and listen to the affected drum, hear how it sounds. 6) Save the project, and close X1. 7) Restart X1 and re-open the project, LEAVING PX-64 CLOSED. 8) Press Play and hear how poppy the drum sounds. 9) Now simply open the bass drum's instance of PX-64 and notice that the sound goes back to normal. I duplicated your setup. Before closing the project, my playback meter was around -6dB. After closing and reopening, it was over +11dB. I was able to duplicate this same behavior by adjusting only the Shaper's Attack and leaving all other controls at their original default values (and EQ off). If I adjusted the Shaper's attack below 100%, the reopened project played back at a lower volume. For example, I set the attack at 80.1%, closed PX-64, and the project played back at -4.8dB. After closing and reopening the project, it played back at -11.1dB. Here are my vital statistics: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Sonar X1 Producer x64 (X1a build 197) PX64_PercussionStrip_64.DLL (file version 1.0.0.222 from download) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Processor: Intel Core i7 920 RAM: 6GB OCZ RAM Video Card: HIS HD4850 IceQ 4 TurboX 512MB Audio Interface: Echo AudioFire2 Power Supply: Zalman ZM1000-HP PSU Case: Cooler Master HAF Hope this helps, Don

Hey Dime. I followed your instructions and I was able to duplicate the problem. I did it in X1 32bit and 64bit. When I first created the project my volume was -6.9db on playback. When I reopened the project it was +6.5db on playback. I also created a project in 8.5.3 32bit and 64bit and got the same results ... but ... I installed X1 first then did a custom install of 8.5 32/64. I didn't install any plug-in's or samples that came with 8.5. I just installed the 8.5 program and pointed my folders to where X1 installed SD3, Dim Pro, PX64 ... etc. I have to say though, I have noticed this volume fluctuation without using PX-64. I almost posted asking about it, but I backed out at the last second. I didn't have this problem in 8.5 when I originally installed X1 when 8.5.3 was already on my system with all it's plug's and synth's. This only came up after I did a fresh system install, installed X1, then 8.5.3 after X1 so I'm assuming it is something to do with the version of SD3 that comes with X1. Hope this makes sense, it's a little confusing. My goal was to only have the 8.5.3 program and use everything with it that came with X1. It's backfiring on me though. 8.5 hasn't been stable since doing that. I just installed a second HDD on my system today so I'm going to do another clean install and then put 8.5.3 on first with all it's goodies, then X1 with all it's goodies. I'll post back to let you know my results. Thanks, Bub

So it would seem that the Attack setting is definitely the main culprit huh? Humble, you're a lucky one, my friend! lol. Thanks for sharing though. Odd how random this issue is.

Larry, This is what I'm seeing on my system when I follow Dime's steps. Link to vid. Right click and say 'Show All' if you can't see all of the video. SWF files don't play nice with Box.net for some reason. Bub

Ah yeah Bub, that looks like what others are reporting. I wonder why I don't see that? Maybe we'll never know.

HumbleNoise Ah yeah Bub, that looks like what others are reporting. I wonder why I don't see that? Maybe we'll never know. I'm seeing similar results with the VX-64 plug-in as well when I use the Delay section of it. I adjust Time, Feedback, Level, and save the project. When I open it, all the knobs are in the correct place, but all the settings have changed and I get a single delay of 1 second. I nudge one of the knobs and everything starts working again. Same as with the PX-64 plug. I'm not sure why you don't see it. I haven't seen anyone else bring up the Delay bug in VX-64, or I missed it if they did. It happened in 8.5 long before X1 came out so whatever it is, it carried over in to X1 with the plug. If I had to take a wild guess, maybe it has something to do with your Intel mobo? The only system I ever had that ran Sonar glitch free was an Intel mobo/cpu combo. Back when I was using 4.0 it was on an Intel mobo/cpu combo and I can't remember having a crash I didn't cause, and those times were few and far between.

I use an Intel MoBo whenever I can, meaning whenever I can find one with the relevant specs. Sometimes they don't OC as well as others but for stability? Unmatched in my experience and a system designed for something like Sonar can NEVER be too stable..

See if others are experiencing the problem as well (I haven't yet started toying with VX64).

Possible workaround for the px64 percussion strip problem. Just automate (create an automation envelope for) the shaper attack parameter of the px64. This seems to have the same effect as opening the interface and readjusting. Maybe other parameters would work, but the shaper attack seemed to be causing the problem so it was the obvious place to start.
