The draw tools are not "there" at all, as you have to click sub-levels for different choices...

Took the words right out of my mouth bristol_jonesy

Press T = no clicks
Press Fkey = no clicks
Press middle mouse button = 1 click

Hardly buried away in menus.........

And you don't even have to do that. They're all there as big fat buttons on the control bar.

Interesting FBB and John T. Those tools are darn near everywhere when you think about it.

I may now have nightmares about the tools following me everywhere I go.

Best

That's actually an argument supporting the less clicks argument cos there's no real need to change tools at all. The only time I need to is when I want to use the mute tool for comping.

Took the words right out of my mouth bristol_jonesy

 1 - Press T = no clicks
 2 - Press Fkey = no clicks
 3 - Press middle mouse button = 1 click

4 - Hardly buried away in menus.........

1 - pressing a PC key is an extra step... and then you do have to click, one or more times on the smart tool...
...and as already pointed by some users, why should i want to press any PC key at all while I once just had to click straight on the ready to go button...?
2 - PC keys, while playing/composing suck... but you don't seem to consider this preference from many users...
3 - yes... and then click, again and again to chose the tool, until the smart tool disappears... and middle-click again to repeat the process... until the very (soon) next time in the same "writing" session....
...while specific buttons just needed one-click each....

4 - so, eventually, the menus are there for nothing, ain't they.....?(..!)

and...by the way, what was Benstat's SONAR PLUS TOOLBAR for, in the end...? Why is it felt as needed, by many users...?
It must have its own good points, and must somehow supply some X1's lacks... must it not..?

Sorry guys, at this tiresome point there's no good in repeating ourselves over and over...

Fact is there are many customers asking for some features to be set as they once where, at least as an option, because they find the overall workflow was more convenient and faster...
...and that comes from their true experience... which is no way less right than that of users happy with X1.....

There are points from both sides, thus everybody  is just expressing preferences... I'm sure we all agree about this... at least....

until next thread..................

See...what I  would have liked would have been a Customisable DAW...one that could have INCLUDED BOTH sides of this debate in one package...

Instead what we ended up with is EITHER one side gets what they want OR the other side gets what they want...

As it is..it looks like one side got what they wanted at the expense of the other side....

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but supporting legacy functionality tends to add complexity to a codebase, making the code more prone to bugs and more expensive to maintain and test.

To my knowledge John T has never been banned...
Oh yes he has.
This board needs some drastic house cleaning.
Indeed. If you and John T would make the first step and go away, the whole forum would become a much nicer place.

All this bickering and round and round - it's not good for the community. This is an old thread that has more than run its course.
