Julien there is no reason for anyone to be upset. What the OP does (outside of being provocative) has no impact on anyone here. He can chose to use X1 or not. Who cares? I totally agree and that is my point. I have seen things like this devolve into some really bad stuff because, well because of the people. It seems that here, there are really ood people who can disagree and even get upset without going over the line. That says a lt in my book about the members here. Julien

John 3 So you are saying that memory has nothing to do with the third issue? Sorry I don't think you have a clue how PCs work. Dear John, This seems to be nothing more than the infamous John makes a straw man fallacy so he can justify a rude outburst™ tactic. There is no need to be rude. Good day sir, mike

I've been ported. I entered in the X1 forum and left in the coffee house. Where are the stairs so I can get back?

FastBikerBoy I've been ported. I entered in the X1 forum and left in the coffee house. Where are the stairs so I can get back? Cue RMI Electra Piano arpeggios Theres only one direction in the faces that I see; Its upward to the ceiling, where the chambers said to be. Like the forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree. They are pulled up by the magnet, believing that they're free. The carpet crawlers heed their callers: We've got to get in to get out We've got to get in to get out. Mild mannered supermen are held in kryptonite, And the wise and foolish virgins giggle with their bodies glowing bright. Through a door a harvest feast is lit by candlight; Its the bottom of a staircase that spirals out of sight. The carpet crawlers heed their callers: We've got to get in to get out We've got to get in to get out.

kc2ine StarTekh kc2ine: did you fix your system yet.. is all I wana know.. well, my system is perfectly fine it was just one 8.5 LE crash and now is working fine, but I have back switched to Sonar VS because UI is better then 8.5. Easier to work with. This topic was not about my crash but potential problems with X1 which I'm considering to get. I remember years ago roland had some deals also with Cubase, I wonder if it's now any good...or more stable then Sonar. Releasing beta version of programs is really bad pratice nowadays but unfortunately quite popular... FWIW - I demo'ed Cubase essential recently - it poofed on me when I clicked on the track header. I had one of Cubase's own VSTi running, playing back a 4 bar single note motif. Got a similar error on my second attempt. Case closed. As for Pro Tools - 1 track, record-enabled, 1 plug-in (BF SansAmp), buffers set at 32 - clicks and pop. Nothing playing back. I was suggested to increase buffer to at least 64, maybe even 128. On the same machine, using Logic w/ buffers at 32, (and in 32 bit mode, same as PT) I can record overdubs in a full blow project, monitoring w/ Amplitube set at high quality, and plenty of other plug-ins, including another instance of Amplitube. No glitch, no issue. Ironically, Avid, who distributes Pro Tools, also made my audio interface. The only thing as bad as PT's performance on my MacBook Pro I have seen on the PC is, uh... Pro Tools again. Sonar 8.5 may behave oddly at time, but it's still a pretty solid application.

kc2ine I mean come on, how cakewalk can release such crash-able application, they have no money for QA or not giving a damn? Being in IT myself I don't get it because there are techniques since some time already to prevent application crash even in case fatal error. Application should gracefully close failing module, write to log or display message and continue. I mean how fatal can it be? Sure don't know why they send X1 threads in the X1 forum down here but they do......and since you're here let me ask you a question- wheren't you in Montreux in Dec. of '71 hanging around the gambling house at Lake Geneva?

Are the people paying for the Program and usability or the brand name Pro Tools?... Pro fools...? There are things and features that are great in Pro Tools too but I woonder if the users actually know and understand how outdated their Pro Tools is?

kc2ine ProjectM The argument was that 64-bit matters. Well, at least it doesn't hurt?
yeah, size matters told me once a woman at the bar - sometimes it hurts though... .....so is this what they mean by saying "it's not the size of your pen, but how you write with it"? or "it's not the size of your boat, but the motion in the ocean"? 24

I was going to reply to this using IE. Somehow, I thought that might cause me to post a less than insightful response. Then, I thought about the fact that I was the one replying, so it may not make a difference. I used IE. I don't think it shows, do you?

The OP has stated that they have not actually used the product. Unsurprisingly this has become a counter-productive thread and is being locked.
