I may be mistaken but I think someone from Cakewalk said X1 had been the most successful SOnar ever. Could you find the thread Mr Helpful- I can't be arsed.

My apologies, I got the quote slightly wrong:

John

I have used X1 from its release. I have not had any significant problems with it. Actually X1 as a first release was far and away the best first release CW ever put out.

8 had problems and so did 8.5. I remember with the release of 8 that many had a lot of crashes.

Each update to X1 has not just fixed bugs but added features. The quick fixes were started to speed bug fixes in a more timely fashion. That may lead some to believe that X1 has far more bugs than previous versions. It did have its fair share but not to any amount greater than the others.

One strong reason I was so adamant in defending X1 when some posted negative things about it was to prevent this type of post. You got a false impression about X1 because some dissatisfied posters posted in some cases opinion without ever having used the program. They were opposed to the new GUI. They put it in such a way that it seem as if it was buggy.

Sonar X1 Producer Expanded with update D is a great Sonar and far better than any previous version. It has always been stable on my system. Not just this latest version but all the versions of X1.

Often problems posted here with X1 are due to user error or simply never reading the manual. Others have flaky gear. Yes there have been bugs and there still are some. But CW has been on top of them from the very start.

You can be sure that X1 will work for you and you will be amazed at just how good it is. You may kick yourself for waiting so long to get it.

The whole thread is HERE.

Here I'm trying to have peace here and I think you are trying to stir up trouble. To each their own I guess.

Just so you understand why I said that, that was my experience going back to the Pro Audio days. CW has always had problems with its first releases. I recall in a version of Sonar that it wouldn't install because CW had an installer that was looking for a certain DirectX version which was no longer in Windows. It was a huge problem for many.

If you recall the numerous patches and fixes CW has provided for every version there is no way to say that they were without issue. To me X1 was relatively bug free in comparison. No one has to agree though.

The problem as I saw it was CW put out a new version that was markedly different from all the past versions which caused a lot of angst some of which was due to a very new GUI and user error not to bugs as such. But there were bugs also. This didn't help things for those trying to decide whether to upgrade or not.

But then you should know that.

So let's get this clear then - what you're saying is that the many and varied (and extremely well documented) problems people were complaining about in the first release of X1 were down to the GUI and their own incompetence, and not to do with the performance of the software? This on its own destroys your tenuous and hastily added arguement that what you said originally was meant to be a personal view on X1 and not a general, objective statement.

Like I said at the time, there's a vast difference between being negative about the software and being realistic.

I contend that if you started a poll about who else honestly believed X1 was the "best first release" of any version of SONAR then the 'realistic' voters would win by a country mile.

And back to the reason I brought this up again:

John

You know Glen when you call people "fanbois" you insult the vast membership of this forum.

I say again, as an objective and realistic SONAR user, I find it far more insulting that you should clearly fly in the face of overwhelming opinion in saying "Actually X1 as a first release was far and away the best first release CW ever put out" than you should feel insulted in being called a fanboy. Which, by any accepted definition of the word, you clearly are.

So because you disagree with me I am now a fanboy to you and  feel free to call me that at your pleasure?

Nice logic.

Best
