I've seen them. You'll have a nice Frankenscar for special occasions. I'm glad you're home now. Praying for a smooth recovery. Hang in there, man.

You figure they could give you some localized anesthetic or something for the removal if it's that painful. I'd imagine the area is quite tender as it is. Maybe ask them about that. No reason to go through the trauma of extra pain unnecessarily. On its own something like that isn't a big deal but all that adds up psychologically after a while. Anyway... all this has made me consider taking another look into surgery options as I'm not nearly as healed as I hoped I would be after all my hard work staying on top of my exercises and diet. I'll be curious to see how things progress for you. Take it easy and heal up quick, bit. You're a good guy and deserve some relief. Cheers.

I knew this one girl that had to have open-heart surgery to fix a defect (she was only 30 at the time) which left a long, ugly, scar. Having a good sense of humor, she got it tatooed as a zipper - lol.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

bitflipper Hi everybody I am back amongst the living. More or less. Still can"t get to my computer (stairs are involved) so I"m cheating and using my phone. Thank you all for the well-wishes and for periodically bumping this thread so I could find it easily. The surgery was a success but involved a lot more pain than anticipated. Still pretty doped up on nnarcotics most of the time but held off them this morning just so I'd have the presence of mind to log in and say hi. Hope to get back to the computer tomorrow or Saturday but not allowed to sit more than 30 minutes at a time. My business partner's having cow because I'm unable to help with advanced technical issues. Luckily most of my customers are understanding. Time for meds now...ow ow ow...will keep in touch. Thanks again.
Cheers, Dave

Try to get them to give you some hydromorphone before taking the staples out... that should help. I will be thinking of you... J

Hey Bit, the staples only REALLY hurt when they leave them in too long and the skin starts to take back what Rightfully belongs to it.... Ya, that suks. Just wiggle your toes, you will either be OK or you will end up in Kansas...
....more narcotics....
Ahhhh that warm rush. (Did you look to see if you pee'd)

It's amazing to me that so many folks were worried about Dave's return...I never doubted it for a second. He has waaaay too much gumption, will and sheer brain power to let something as trivial as major back surgery keep him down. Why, he was already schooling trolls not more than a day or two later. He's a force of nature...with a sharp mind and a wry sense of humor. In short a man to be reckoned with...I reckon. Welcome back, ol pal.

Sincere thanks to everybody who's wished me well during this ordeal. When the pain made it impossible to sleep, I'd grab the walker and shuffle out here to the studio knowing my pals would be there with something interesting to say and take my mind off it all. It's a true friend who'll talk to you at 3:00 AM, especially when you're goofy with drugs.

bitflipper First day back in front of the computer. Yay, I'm trying to make some music again. But the narcotics are having a weird effect on my brain: everything I play is now in Am. It just sounds so...nice. Like floating.
Bit ... it's not Am! You've got it upside down! (Try it ... you might enjoy it!) Nice to see you back and yapping with us ... hope all goes well here on in!
