YEA, it will be close, but i can hear obvious differences between the 16 bit files and the 24 bit. ezplayer pro comes free with SD2.0, i think....

Guys, I wish I could tell you all the details about the drum performance I pieced together last night. I will say that it is the quickest a drum track has ever come together for me. "Tap to Find" rocks my world. It was so cool to more or less say, "play something like this" and have a groove pop up in a list that was a match and then just like collaborating with a real drummer, a groove a couple of selections down the list was very similar to my first idea but was better and still fit perfectly. The Play Style editor and the Song Creator all came into play and let me communicate my needs to my virtual drummer and worked as I hoped it would. I could say, lose the ride tom and most of the crash cymbals and not quite as much floor tom, give me some ghost strokes on the snare and please don't hit the hihat so hard. All done within the EZ2 interface on the same groove. I think I touched on just about every bullet point except some of the export features. (I just used drag and drop as always.)

This is what I am looking forward to. Eco has something a little like that, but doesn't address what I would like done to a clip/groove.
When I saw the videos I thought this is going to be nice!!
Thanks for the news Dave. Keep us informed in the new things you learn to do with it.

heh, well, we ARE talking aesthetics here, correct? and if you got noise from 24 different individual tracks in all, it will add up to a sonic mess, eh? have you listened to bonham's isolated drum tracks from some of the zep recordings? all captured with maybe 3 mics total? some would call that a sonic mess...... some call it sonic magic.

Bajan Blue What I really wish some genius would do is come up with a program that can take a midi drum track and adapt it to any drum program I own. Interchangable loops would be a big step forward. Generic midi drums, yeah I guess most of them do that ok. Hi Starise that's already available from Toontrack - its called Ezplayer Pro https://www.toontrack.com/products.asp?item=27 Cheers Nigel
Thanks for that info Nigel....live and learn. I had no idea something like this was out there. I think this program will make my life a lot easier. I'm seriously checking that out. Aside from if a person thinks 24bit is better than 18bit, and I agree it probably isn't a huge difference. It still seems to me like a corner was cut...a compromise was made....albeit probably a small one.It was still a compromise. Hard drives are inexpensive now.Storage space isn't an issue.CPUs are faster. It seems as if the decision was made because the program can pull samples faster and more efficiently using 18 bit files, faster loads etc. The speed at which a program can pull samples can mean the difference between crashing and staying afloat. A lot of that is also hardware related. When most other flagship drum programs offer the option to use 24 bit samples it looks as if toontrack has gone backwards, at least to me. I try not to get personally vested in a piece of software, but truth be told, I think I get slightly attached to certain things I have become accustomed to using....I'll admit that. If "A" does the job ,then why do I need "B"? To be honest....it was probably the terminology of the product that kept me from using it more than anything. Word associations...Toontrack..I think Cartoon...and I don't want no cartoon anything in my DAW. EZ??? really. I don't think I could come up with a cornier title for anything. Usually if something seems easy it isn't...so that was turn off number 2. It all came off way to 3rd grade for me...and I have a copy of EZ drummer somewhere but literally only tried it a handful of times. After I had bought a few of the others I hadn't seen the need....so yeah...I'm probably biased for the wrong reasons. It is probably a good product and this version looks like they have the organization down to a tee. If I can look past all that other stuff I might even download the demo and give it a spin. I'm sure a lot of hard work went into it's development....just get someone else to name your stuff next time.

I'm looking forward to EZ2. I've been watching all of the videos from Toontrack and it looks pretty incredible to me. I have several of the ezx's already so it will be a solid investment. Can't wait to get the new modern (DW) and vintage kits. I must say, for the added features in this thing the price seems like a steal.

This thread and the video's convinced me to get EZD1 and the free upgrade. I've been looking at the EZX's and am wondering if they regularly go on sale? If so, what are the typical discounts? Cheers, jayson

Yeah, there are plenty of sales. 2 for 1, 3 for 2, 50%, the more you buy, the more the discount and so on. All deals vary in the benefit to you but most will have a reasonable benefit. Patience is key but any sale will give you something.
Don't over-buy! That's the massive temptation. Buy Nashville EZX though (when on sale). It's their best all-rounder.

JRR has the EZX modules on sale now. I broke down and bought one and EZdrummer last night. I decided to have both EZD2 and AD2. The MIDI search features on EZD2 tipped the scale for me.

Surely, BFD 3 is also on the horizon and should get him closer in completing the package no?

I'm really liking the new features like tap to find and the ability to edit in the program, along with song creator. I gave out a little "Ooo"when Mod Bod was talking about tuning an Udu. I don't produce for a living, so I'm going to try to wait for a sale. But I may get a little too squirrelly and jump on the $89.99 at Sweetwater. Maybe pick up the LP EZX finally too!
