It was mine. I have not used EZD since picking up Superior Drummer 2 crossgrade for cheap. Now when Superior Drummer 3 is announced....

Ezdrummer is easy, which is kind of the point. They probably should call this - LessEzDrummer.

It looks to me to be based around the EZKeys model of creating a song structure in the interface.

I wonder if that means that the MIDI will now become a proprietary format like EZKeys.

if by goal you mean more tweakbality, ya.

I don't make records (errm, CDs) but I've produced some decent sounding songs using EZDrummer as well as Superior. Heck I produced a couple of songs using a single stereo out from EZDrummer.

SH1 said it best. EZDrummer can be EZ.

One thing's for certain, there's going to be loads of add-ons. It's the way they are going.

I can see audiodeluxe now - buy 6 EzDrummer2 add-on packs for $99.....

It says your EZX packs will be optimised, so we'll have to see what that entails.

I've got and primarily use SD2, but I still like to use EZD for hand percussion, with the Latin percussion EZX, as a separate instance using it's built in groove browser to audition the grooves and then drag from there into a Sonar MIDI track

Ok, I'll say one more thing.  I have Superior 2 and EZdrummer.  I would want EZ2 as well, even if I had to pay full price for it.

Don't get me wrong Mod...I'm not saying it won't be good.
8 years?

That's sad...REALLY sad...everything else is already better...
and really should be looking at SD2...to compete with BFD 3....which
is going to be a REALLY tough act to follow...

I own them all...

They had better up the game....A LOT...at dirt cheap....that's all I'm sayn'...

Well...on the long update period for EZDrummer I'd have to say that it gets more of a pass than SepticTank as it has been constantly updated with new kits.  Not unlike AD or BFD or the like.  Superior Drummer should be considered an update to it as well if you like.  But, even though I've lately changed out EZD for SD2 in my "normal" template just to force myself to learn and use SD2...I still prefer EZD.  And I hope that EZD2 is still in that mold.  I'm very interested to see what this is like.

Upgrades from EZD are, I believe, $99 semolians.

$99 rules me out.

$49 would be my limit even for a total overhaul.

I'm off to hire a real drummer if I can just find what pub they are all in.

I'm out....too much...

I can buy SD 2 right now for that...why buy this?
And that's an UPGRADE PRICE?

They might as well just shoot themselves in the face and get it over with...

I agree that they have done far better then ToiletTank for updates though...
I do give Toontrack credit for that...

Talk amongst yourselves.  I know that I am already using it and I'm using it more than Superior drummer at the moment and there's nothing on the market like it.  BFD and Addictive are both fine products but they don't do what EZD2 does for guys like me.

And I'm sure if you wait long enough, the street price of EZD2 will come down and by then, if you save your lunch, money it will be in your collection as well.

Bapu and I will be telling you all about when it's released.

What will they do with Superior if it turns out to be superior to Superior?

They'll have to bring out EvenGreater 1.0

Or call it - X. It worked for Sonar.

My upgrade to Sonar X3 is currently $149, which is actually not correct because it's £119, which of course, is not the actual rate of conversion because of taxes or just because they don't like my rugged good looks.

SH1,

I never quite understood the "observation*" about conversion rates.

I rarely (if ever) hear about Americans complaining in reverse. Really, I buy stuff (liek Wavesfactory) and I pay "more units" than the EU/GBP advertised price.

To me, if the product is what I want (from anywhere in the world) and it's worth it to me in U$D (regardless of the advertised rate by country) then I'm in.

Not flaming here but it just sounds like you want if for less than your advertised currency, no? Which to me is a separate argument than conversion rates, IMO.

Re: EZ DRUMMER 2 2014/03/13 13:29:43 (permalink)
I'm sure it's a fine product.

Only problem is, for where it's "located" at in the Market, they're
making a big mistake.  Even if the upgrade is going to be $49, they're
still not going to sell a lot.  Most have moved "UP" the ladder from
EZDrummer.  Just the fact that Sonar now includes the FULL version
of AD is going to cut a lot of sales for this, unless it is something
completely GROUND BREAKING...which I just don't foresee...

They've waited 8 years, and while still a fine product as is, as is ToiletTank,
it's far to late to be trying to 'stay in that game" unless the
price is DIRT CHEAP...and I MEAN DIRT CHEAP (same goes for ToiletTank)

Maybe they're going after the "newbs"...

They really should be releasing a SD3....REALLY...
Because, if what you say is true, then it would make SD - Inferior D...
and that would be completely stupid on their part.

Time will tell...

EDIT: IMO
