MIx Recall Templates

First off, this was a great release! Very simple to install, no problems, great content. I'm not sure I understand the Mix Recall Templates update. I don't see any reference to templates in the Mix Recall tab. How does this work? Does it mean that if you save a track template it also saves the Mix Scene as well? Thanks for the help in clarifying!

Helpfile states something to do with saving with project templates.

But also - confusingly - refer to track templates with a link - which says nothing more than list Mix scenes are part of it.

I guess one has to read up on merging of mix scenes to understand what will happend.

That's a very good question, because "template" has a couple meanings in SONAR. In this case, it refers to Project Templates - the ones with the .cwt suffix, like the "Normal" template. These templates can now reference mix scenes. A project derived from this template will automatically copy the mix scenes referenced by the template and insert them in a project, and place the Mix Scenes in the project's MixScenes folder.

    Its in the documentation here
The documentation should have pointed to project templates not track templates :)

Mix recall templates really is an extension added to project templates. When you save a project template file it will now additionally save any mix recall state that is present. i.e. the templates themselves can reference mix scenes and any project derived from this template will automatically inherit the mix scenes referenced by the template so
    they’re ready to use.
For example you could have the template have scenes with different solo mute states, or even different combinations of effects that can be switched in via the mix scenes.

To save a mix recall template, you create a project with the desired mix scenes, then save the project as a template file. When you save, all the referenced mix scenes will be saved with the template.
There was a thread here that requested a different use case for this. Here is anotheranother, another and one more
As you can see this has been requested in a few different context's over the years :)

Thanks for weighing in, folks. So, if I make a blank template with certain parameters and save it I should then be able to recall the Mix Scene by loading the track template?

By blank if you mean a template containing tracks and buses with parameters set up then yes.
If you save a scene with these settings in the template you can recall it within any project created from that template.

I really think Cake could benefit from more videos on such features... it's the current way of marketing... youtubes go viral and this definitely would...attracting new users, just like the arranging vids for S3...Personally I had NO IDEA this was possible with a little planning, template wise... I like it a lot although still need to "get my head around it" as the white rabbit mentioned...

I think SPlat has so many unique features, youtubes should be coming out on them more regularly... helping our community to grow.

It's worth the time to do...

I just recently used Kick Start for the first time in a project and it worked rather well   Wish I knew about the additional Elements though - that's a great idea!   I also forgot about the KickMaster FX Chain...

I usually feel like I have a decent handle on much of SONAR offers, but sheesh, Platinum just keeps getting deeper by the month.   And we're only nine months in.
