For those that didn't get the email, there was another announcement today. New website with more info, including pricing estimates: https://momentum.cakewalk.com/

I filled out the form to sign up for Basic early access.

No. Monthly. Plan. Ever.

Cakewalk/Gibson is free to choose the terms of their offering.  Personally I avoid recurring monthly obligations whenever I can.  Certain things cannot be avoided (electric/gas bill, health/car/home insurance, etc.)  And there are a few things that provide enough value that I pay monthly (cable and cell phone) but I am looking for ways to reduce or eliminate these.  And I run a few websites, and those services are inherently subscriptions -- but I have selected technologies where I can easily move to another provider.

Beyond that, I just don't do monthly stuff.  I haven't had a car loan for 35 years.  If you live with a cheap used car and save your money for awhile, you can pay cash for whatever car you want.  It isn't so easy to avoid a mortgage, but it really is possible without living in a mountain shack.

I am probably not the target customer for Momentum and I certainly will not take up a subscription.  It is a shame because I don't mind paying a fair one-time price for a product like that.  It looks cool, but I'd probably only use it 10 times a year.

Death and taxes, Craig, death and taxes.

I was going to tell you how I avoid both of those, but I think I might get in a bit of trouble.  :)

I'm trying it out under Early Access.

Where do I download the VST plugin?

I would assume the ideas captured in the app are saved somewhere in ' the cloud'. Will there also be a hassle free offline way to  sync these idea's to the DAW? A of members here have their main machine offline.

Cloud and offline use are not synonymous :) So to sync something you will at least temporarily need to be online on some PC. You could also sync on a different online PC and then bring over that project to your DAW manually using what ever manual method you use today. Once we're close to release we'll have more videos and content to show how seamless the integration with a DAW is.

You're trying Momentum? Where did you get it? I signed up for early access but haven't gotten an e-mail or anything.

You may want to check your spam folders. I received two emails; one from Jim Lima @ Cakwalk and another from Apple's TestFlight service (ended up in my spam folder).

Early access was for a relatively small group of people. The app will be out very soon however so you will get a chance to check it out. The free version has most of the features with a limitation of 3 ideas that can be synced. You can also try out the plugin with the free version with some limitations.

Got my email but just shipped my phone back into Samsung because the battery decided it might explode. Hopefully will have back within the week.

I would avoid recording any hot licks under Momentum for awhile.

I can see a use for this if I want to export the backing instrumental from Sonar to my phone to mess with some lyric ideas on the go

Sonar Platinum - Windows 10 Pro 64bit - AMD FX 8150 processor - 16Gb RAM - 27" Monitor (it's not the size that counts, it's what you do with it)

Hi All,
Dare I ask ......(HECK....aren't we are all so jumpy lately) ....Is 'CW Momentum' worth pursuing and learning how to use/flick those fleeting 'BUT AMAZING'....( yes amazing ......I heard the s****s )....... ideas to Sonar OR will Bandlab's version likely supersede OR perhaps merge with it.
I have not had much time lately to mentally digest either software candidate's attributes................but I suspect others have done the Maths ...........AND..it will need to be sorted at some stage.
Over to The Mob :)
Cheers Frank

PS:Anyone wants to know what was bleeped (ie: ***) out....I will convey it (privately) BUT am stunned this occurred.
I used a perfectly innocent phrase.
Political correctness  gone mad?.....Heck..NOT AT ALL..... BUT the software designers need to refine their programming skills a bit no doubt !!
Cheers Frank

Akismet, the Software brain that trawls the depths of this forum looks for unacceptable terms and even if that combination of letters appears within an acceptable word it flags it.. it’s also responsible for deleting posts that appear to it to be spam. It’s an algorithm that learns from its past efforts.
Probably better the occasional incorrect flagging than to allow all banned words through.
