Thanks Zinc! I had a 3rd party addon in the Track Editor so didn't see it there.

Well, I gave in and bought it! LOL.. I feel both like a very logical and sensible person AND like a kid just looking for the largest collection of toys to put on a shelf to gather dust...! I'll still be using Sonar as my main DAW, but my workflow will change a lot. Volume and pan automation will somehow be stored in midi files... ( I dunno... like using MIDI faders like VCAs for pan and volume of my audio tracks... thinking aloud here... I'll have to save multiple 16 tracks midi files to store complete projects i suppose... i'll see as I go along.) In hopes that 80% of the mix will be stored there. As for FX chains, I'm gonna use digigrid (waves) soon... so the Fx chains will be stored using that cross-daw system. PROS: - for me, the price just to get Spectral Layers alone was worth it! I do not care that much about included plugins and instruments (Already own Waves bundles and Komplete instruments, so...) - Now have a backup DAW, if Sonar should ever give up on me anytime soon - Since I also liked Vegas pro 9 (upgraded to v.14 about 7 months ago), seemed logical to centralize my money so that another company will not cease operations suddenly. CONS - I still have not made my mind on a DAW replacement. I'm pretty sure i'll go with the 99$ Ableton Live version (i really like the looping features and have been interested to go deeper in that kind of workflow for years) AND another DAW as my main combo. Reaper (Seems very flexible and customisable)? Fruity Loops (mainly for its GUI / Touch integration)? - Any DAW is still not Pro Tools (and its presence in "big" professional studios...) but I do not want to be trapped in Avid's subscription model. The fact that I was not 100% familiar with PT's workflow and shortcuts cost me a job opportunity in a professional studio. So, whatever I'm gonna select as a DAW, I'll have to customize its keyboard shortcuts to make it as "Pro-Tools-Like" as can be, to prevent that from happening again... (that and some work on my attitude I guess... LOL) Anyways, happy holidays Sonarites!

S.L.I.P.
SimpleManZ Trying out Samplitude here and is bothered by this so far. See, Sonar not too long ago added a MIDI feature whereas you start playback in the 'middle' of a note and the note will trigger. The Forum'ers here complained that every other DAW does this 'cept Sonar. Now finding out my new friend Sammy is a no do.
I just fired up Samplitude and that feature is working for me. I put the cursor, in the middle of notes and pressed play, and it plays like it would in Sonar.
Well I made a little midi project using the 2 built in synths and is not working. I'll see.

Oops. Just saw a video showing Reaper's capability to do spectral editing! Oh well, I guess I will not be using Spectral layers that often...

soens Thanks Zinc! I had a 3rd party addon in the Track Editor so didn't see it there.
Glad to help soens. We are all finding our way with these new DAWs and can use all the help we can find. The Samplitude forum folk (esp Kraznet) seem helpful although it's nowhere near as busy as here. I am liking Samplitude X3 so far but have only scratched the surface. Was about to mention the lack of MIDI note on chasing but I see that scook has found a way to enable it. One thing I really like is the apparent solidity and stability. At one stage I managed to cause an audio stutter problem (the kind that in SPlat usually meant it was about to crash). After a few seconds it stopped and Samplitude carried on as if nothing had happened and everything played without problem. It seemed to me as if the audio engine had caught a problem and dealt with it rather than just giving up the ghost.

Can someone check and see if their version of Samplitude Pro X Suite has a 64bit version of Revolta2? My install only seems to have a 32bit version. C2

Mine is also 32bit cecelius2 and seems to live in C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Music Maker\25\MxSynth . I cannot find any other version on my system.

This offer has given me the plan moving forward. After demoing both Samplitude & Reaper, Samp will be the DAW for my desktop which is an i7 workhorse when and if SONAR fails. For my laptop which is at times CPU challenged, it will be Reaper since I still use the laptop for remote recordings and basic projects. Both Samp and Reaper support Direct X which is big for me since I do a lot of voiceover work and need the precision of a program like Adobe Audition and/or Sound Forge and neither Cubase, Pro Tools, or Studio One allow use of an external editor. PS Still using Adobe Audition 3.1 since 2007....gives me hope SONAR will last!
