Thanks to this thread I finally got around to messing with my FX rack colors and now my Platinum them looks even  more like my everyday theme. Thanks! It's getting there.

I sure hope we can edit the horizontal slider colors and text after the next Theme Editor update. Having that ability will be a big step forward.

Gotta say this looks pretty great. Hope you'll be able to share it with us when it's done!

I use it to make small tweaks to existing themes. I think it's extremely flexible and offers all sorts of options for users. Like all powerful software, it has a steep learning curve but full of options. If you want quick results, download a theme created by some of the users. If you want to dive in, be prepared to put in some effort!  I applaud Cakewalk for offering such flexibility. I remember reading complaints in this forum about the need to customize colors a few years back like Sonar 8.5. Well I'm my opinion, Cakewalk certainly delivered!

Peace!

Can anyone tell me what name to look for when i am trying to use Theme Editor to edit the colour of the text within the Browser box, time display and the units inside the loop module, etc? I would be tearing my hair out if I had any....

I checked it, figured it was going time consuming to custom made one, have yet to get convinçed with the proposed themes. in the end the good old theme, tungsten i think, just feel goog AND it gives you the flexibilty to color the console strips/tracks which I really prefer.

My 2 cents

I like the Polar one, but I had to make little tweaks so I could read the processors and know how hot they get as I play since Rapture only goes on one core.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Where do you get these? Are they just in the tuncury themes? Or are they seperate?
(I don't see anything on the resources page)

Elffin has not to add them to the page.
They are on my SONAR page https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vSWylK1f9f8Rw0b0J0Ob_KzK6ELgjo9YXk2QPt4TdUHSOJoFUNFkRaW73OIlgOlkCNJw4OEdSUfaUm3/pub
There is an update the CA-2A pending. the new image is uploaded

Scook, they're your themes of course but it would be good if we could keep all of them in one place, don't you think? Any other suggestion! Or is there a typo and perhaps you mean ""elfin is "yet" to .......""

After 2 years it's amazing how many people here don't know about the Software thread that attempts to catalog all the forumites' programs, themes and utilities.

I PM Elffin every time my themes are updated. I sent a request to have the SONAR Resources and Utilities page updated last November to handle changes made for SONAR 2017.11. The post on the thread was a reminder and provided a way for users to access the changes while waiting for the page to update. I am concerned that updates are not made in a timely manner. If you are suggesting that I discontinue maintaining my own software on my own website, that is not going to happen.

Not at all. Way giant misunderstanding there. Am surprised you would think that. Nonetheless

You wrote "elfin has not to add them to the page." It reads to me as if you didn't want to have your themes added to the page hence my request to clarify.

I too am concerned that updates are not made in a timely manner and Elffin has given me access to his Box upload folder but of course I can't update post#1 of the thread which is what would be more beneficial. Any suggestions on that front are welcome.

I can't update post#1 of the thread which is what would be more beneficial.

It is beyond the ability of a host to grant multiple users edit access to a post. The only thing you could do is post on the thread and hope the owner of the OP integrates the changes.

Unless one is a host I suspect it's beyond the software too, unfortunately.

I'll bash heads with elffin and see what we can do to smarten things up a bit so that the Software thread is updated in a more timely manner. Thanks for comments.

Back to the original question.
I'm using a number of different themes as the mood takes me until I can settle on one. Most of the ones I seem to gravitate to a paler coloured.

I love the fact that the Sonar Theme can be modified to the persons preference, for me "YES" I use the Tungsten "Theme" that Sonar provided but I've also modified it as one example, hover over the Plug-ins bar turns to yellow, enable turns to lighter blue, gray=off. It's but one of a number of things, working with default & modified and easy on the eyes for those long sessions.

I use the standard theme. There are a couple of things I wish were different, but it's certainly not my biggest niggle with Sonar, so I just use the default.

Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ....,  Kurzweil.

Since creating it, I have been using my Light Green Tuncury theme.

Late to this thread. But just wanted to add a "me too" to the above, and to add my thanks to Scook for creating this one. Actually I had a hard time choosing between his "Tuncury" and  "Light Green Tuncury" themes. Both are really excellent. Now if only Cake made it possible to have full colour strips.... I tried to go back to Mercury - but after using dark themes for so long, it almost burned my retinas.

I use the default (Tungsten?) Theme.
I was pretty miffed that the bakers even spent time with this Theme Maker stuff.
There are SOO many features and fixes needed to catch and leapfrog the other DAW competitors.
I wish they had spent their precious resources on those instead.

Well - in the same way your car's dash lighting gives you a night time dim setting, and your GPS gives you night time colours (darker hues, lower brightness) - it really depends on your studio ambient lighting. I use small pot lights and under desk and rack lighting in a dark studio. Mercury in that environment is like a spotlight.

So - yep. (LOL)

I like having the editor, but... to make it really useful it will need a lot of work like separating colors that are grouped, adding more areas to change, and better naming for some items.

Re: How Many Are Using Custom Themes? 2017/05/04 10:31:53 (permalink)
Hello all,

I am currently making a Sonar theme that I call Iceberg. I found a nice iceberg picture, extracted the colors to make my own custom color palette and used this palette in the theme.

I've changed about 80% of the items in the theme editor (didn't change anything related to ProChannel), so almost everything is customized, not only the track panel or the console. Unfortunately, due to lacks in the theme editor, there are some things I cannot change (or don't know how to change).

Here's what it looks like:

(right-click and open it in a new window or tab to enlarge it to its full size)

Let me know what you think.
I'm using it most of the time and find it rather smooth to the eye.

And here's the photograph on which the colors are based:

Please note that I'm using the French version of Sonar, that's why some texts are in French :-)
