Fortunately it's one of the most obscure bugs ever. The only way I would have ever found this is if I had some kind of spasm or something. A crash is a crash though.

I actually just found this the other day. My first crash with X1D. I had no idea what I did, just messing around in the PC with the new PC2A and BOOM, white screen and error report. I was definitely clicking around up there though, I remember that much, trying out presets. Good catch!

Once again I've been jipped out of a cool new feature! I want my money back! Mine won't crash for nuthin'. Rock solid here. 1 day and 3 hours later I had to reinstall Sonar for another reason and now, sure enough, it crashes when double clicking the PC header... Shoulda left well enough alone.

or you can always just insert a midi effect (on clip or in bin) and then drag it to another clip or bin (Just drag, don't drag copy)... This will crash everytime. :)

Well, I have two options with 2 different results. Here is the situation; I am currently developing my DAW to Win 7 64 from Vista 32. I have the two DAWS on seperate hard drives and "NOT DUAL BOOT". The mother board allows one to hit F10 on power-on, this allows boot to any selected hard drive. So, I have 4 seperate internal SATA hard drives. One with Vista 32 OS, one with Win 7 64 OS. The other two has no operating systems, just data, sample libaries etc. The Vista 32 has X1 Expanded (build 425), the last build before the most recent, and it does not happen. The Win 7 64 has the most uptodate X1 Expanded D and it happens.

With me, running X1D Expanded: a double-click in the specified spot causes the crash. And The dragging a MIDI FX from one MIDI track's FX bin to another MIDI track's FX bin causes a crash.

This might be significant, as I haven't updated the 32bit version since X1b... - In X1 Producer Expanded ('d' build 535) 64bit it crashes it every time
- In X1 Producer ('b' build 255) 32bit it doesn't crash at all
Trouble is there are two variables here - one is 32bit and the other 64bit; the other is the build version. If it's down to the build version, could it be something to do with when they introduced the ability to scroll the Pro Channel I wonder.

thomasabarnes With me, running X1D Expanded: a double-click in the specified spot causes the crash. And The dragging a MIDI FX from one MIDI track's FX bin to another MIDI track's FX bin causes a crash. Off those two scenarios, I only crash on the first (both - see my follow up) effort(s). The ProChannel double click crashed every time, the MIDI FX drag to another bin does not. PS Follow Up: I posted too soon - I realized after the fact that the first time I tried this it was a copy action, holding CTRL+Drag did not crash, but when I simply did a move action it crashes each and every time.

So my lesson with the MIDI FX error is to do a Copy action, then just delete the one you no longer want. Should be fixed however so it's time to send a report I guess.

Well I was feeling left out, so I tried moving an MFx from one track to another and - Yay! - Crashed! I cannot however under any circumstance crash by double clicking the header of the PC. I have the latest build of X1 d expanded (build 535). I have all Cakewalk modules except for the concrete limiter. Don't have the softube modules. So maybe it's related to the modules installed in PC itself? I am using the 64 bit version of X1, but in VISTA - maybe it's a Windows 7 issue?

i have tested this and yes it crashed everytime x1d and moving audio when sonar is running crashed it everytime and some time when moving thing in piano roll it crashes wow thats not very pro. hate to say it but not moving things when sonar is playing makes this daw very limited. id be happy to go back to only worrying about using vvocal when running. o ya that still happens too, bad buggy vvocal. but you can work around them, not very enjoyable worrying you might move somthing to fast and frezz up sonar.

They ought to code in an 8-bit version of Tron when you double click that area. Of course, instead of Tron throwing disc, it would be Brandon throwing Cakes.

bobbert Just double click a track in console view while something is playing - crash and burn I've never seen that. Just tried in fact - any track while looping several tracks - not a pop or a crackle. Did this for several tracks, nada. Then - I opened up the PC in console view thinking I would try to get the thing to crash by double clicking on the header there instead of from Inspector View which is what I almost always work from - I did so, double clicked several times, then clicked play figuring I would also try that while looping - and as soon as I hit play - boom - BSoD. There is definitely something weird going on - but I don't think it's as simple as the "Easter Egg" theory because it is not universal, although it does sound like the majority of users only have to double click in the magic area of the header to crash. Anyway maybe this will help Cake to track this one down, assuming the plethora of bug reports has drawn their attention to this thread.
