It worked for me! I can't believe a group of sensible people would go round deliberately killing Sonar. The guy who deals with error reports is going to love this Grum.

soens soens Once again I've been jipped out of a cool new feature! I want my money back! Mine won't crash for nuthin'. Rock solid here. 1 day and 3 hours later I had to reinstall Sonar for another reason and now, sure enough, it crashes when double clicking the PC header... Shoulda left well enough alone. Upon further analysis I've discovered the strange phenomina occuring in some projects but no others. This is only in the Inspector View not the CV. More testing required to determine why, so back to the lab. Yep,Inspector view only, laptop crashes in 64bit every time, haven't tried desktop yet and don't want to,that machine has been fast and solid, and don't want to hurt it unnecessarily. Going to test 32bit laptop, but I can rarely even load a project, without 32bit crashing during plugin scan. Damn it,this is just more fuel for the "X1 is not Pro" naysayers, arrrggh.

Oh man this is too strange!,32 bit laptop[which I never use] DOES NOT CRASH double clicking PC grey area in the Inspector! I should be happy, but X1D isn't installed in my 32bit laptop[X1 Expanded "build 425"],plus various plugs like Amplitube 3 ALWAYS get the "VPA Rejected" pop up. This is maddening, has anyone tested X1c build 425,as being immune?

I feel left out too, so I'm going to try and tempt this behavior. Loading up a huge project, about to make some changes and NOT save them. That should encourage the crash...

Now it's crashing consistently for me. If I open the project up and double click, it crashes, giving me the option to inform CW. If I have a project with unsaved changes pending, the crash just takes out Sonar immediately (I'm guessing because it tries to auto-save first and dies there?).

OK, X1"C" Expanded 32bit,on my laptop,DOES NOT CRASH!!!! Also, this same setup,HAS A METRONOME,whereas 64bit[on my laptop] Never has,I always get the "Groove Player" "Missing Plugin":GroovePlayer (Track: 'LRS track bus') [NOT GROOVE SYNTH-Groove Player IS the "Metronome"],and 32bit,NEVER has this pop up.........So Much for 64bit being BETTER! I must point out this is my LAPTOP ONLY,my desktop, everything works[but I have not checked the "Magically crap Pro Channel grey area Inspector view CRASH AREA"on my listed below desktop yet,and will later[my desktop 32bit, is X1C Expanded build 425,as well],64 bit is all "D"- everything is up to date. Suffice to say, laptop will be 32bit from now on[I got Amplitube 3 to work as well in 32bit] So to me "This seems to be an X1D specific problem",SO FAR,with my setup's, IN-Sincerely Bob Sattler.

Verified crash here at location stated. Conditions: Win XP Pro64, X1D Prod Expanded, normal 2 trk project with no content in either trk, no ProCh presets loaded, project not playing. Crash report submitted. I did notice at time of crash a reset button message appearing in transport window. Is message normal for this condition? HeyDan

riojazz I feel like I'm watching people rubbernecking at an accident scene. It's been reported. Let's move on. Well, you may feel like that,BUT,I notice YOU are running X1"C" well X1"C" DOES NOT CRASH at the indicated Inspector location for me,DOES it FOR YOU? Making insulting comments, doesn't help anything,if you or ANYONE,could relay that X1"C" is "immune to said inspector crash" I'd like to know,as IT MAY BE HELPFUL. If it does turn out that X1C is immune,I will roll back to X1C Expanded, until the cakemakers come up with a fix........no "rubber necking" at all, just trying to get solid info, for instance you list your spec's,but don't say wether your using 32bit or 64bit X1C Expanded, despite stating your using W7 x64. Cheerio, Bob. P.S. My crashes in X1D Expanded 64bit,are no longer, offering to send report's to cakewalk, only microsoft,I guess they[cake] have been flooded by this, but if X1C,like for me DOES NOT CRASH,We NEED to know.

Why? X1d wasn't crashing for you and now this relatively obscure technique appears to crash it and you can't stop yourself deliberately crashing it or something? So you need to roll back?

So sorry,I should have said "I" need to know. Yeah so I can roll back, and it might be kind of intriguing if X1C is Immune.....no? I actually prefer the old style PC EQ,in X1c. Too much too ask?.........guess it is.

OK, you are right; that makes sense. I'm actually up to date with X1D. The forum software keeps giving me an error when I try to update my signature. Says it is either "throwing an error" or "too busy", but it also says it logged the error. [EDIT: Internet Explorer worked; Firefox did not.]

In PC Expanded, in the gray area beside the little white arrow where you select which module to add to PC, doubleclick here, and Sonar crashes, everytime for me. Update: Here's some interesting news. I got a driver update for my audio interface (MOTU UltraLite-mk3,) and now if I double click in the ProChannel as explained above, I don't get a crash. I used to get it before I made the driver update (to 4.0.53503,) but now I don't, since I made the update. SONAR just continues to run smoothly, now. Looks like it may be something related to our audio interface and how its drivers interact with things done in X1. Just thought I'd mention that I no longer get this crash since I made the driver update for my auido interface because this experience is interesting, although I'm happy about it. :)

Wow! I just tried to crash X1 E after reading your post Thomas. I hadn't tried because I am not a fan of crashes and the OP made it seem that it was a universal bug. I am happy to confirm your findings. I have repeatedly tried to crash X1 via the PC as described by the OP and following his instructions. NO CRASH happened. I did not have to replace anything either. It is my standard normal X1 E with it patched to d. Thank you Thomas for posting.
