Hiya John:

There are a few others who posted that they don't get a crash when they double-click in the specified area of the PC. It's one of the things that made me suspect this probably has something to do with audio interface drivers and the way they interact with what we do in X1.

Whatever the deal, it's good to not get the crash. :)

Cya around. :)

In my version of SONAR X1D Expanded, once I confirmed this (double click in the PC grey area) bug that causes SONAR to crash, I found that by stopping this double clicking behaviour, I was able to eliminate the crashing. Go figure!

Haha, halariously put. Of course, you're correct.

It's just it's good to get to the bottom of the problem. And I'm glad to know it appears to be an issue that an audio interface driver release has fixed, in my case.

And that says to me that this issue is not an isolated SONAR as the culprit type of problem. :)

Heck I was beginning to think it was a feature. You know when things simply get you Ped off. Its the software equivalent of throwing a full can of beer at the TV set. Here you could do much the same thing except a restart will bring you back to where you were before. Than you can throw another can at it.

I think it is a feature.

When you want to leave and you have next to no time to do this..double click the header and poof! Gone!!

Than it is a bug! Because it wont work for me. I think I am going to submit a feature/bug report/request for it.

So which form should I fill out?

...well I think you're over simplifying things a bit.

Double-clicking is a way of life for some of us. We can't stop! At least 3x a day I get into a double-clicking frenzy and nothing seems to be able to stop me. Believe me I've tried everything including duct taping my hands to the desk. When the craze hits the tape's ripped off (hair an' all), rolled up and tossed out the window into the neighbor's grill, and I'm off again double-clickin' everything to death.

I'm currently seeking professional help but so far nothing's working. Until something does I say Click to your heart's content! If Sonar crashes, so be it!

DOUBLE-CLICKERS UNITE!!!

Until next time, Keep on Clickin'!

Re:How to crash Sonar X1 Expanded every time 2012/05/13 06:03:00 (permalink)
Try this. On my x32 system with X1 Producer I can crash X1 by simply loading an icon in CV by double-clicking it. But only some of the time on specially marked console strips.

Right-click to load and no crashy. Only double-clicking. It's like Sonar and double-clicky are mortal enemies now. Soon you won't be able to double anything anywhere... in X1.

To fix it I have to clone the track, usually an instrument track, and delete the corrupted one.

How about this one.... Insert Midi Quantize (Or any other midi effect) on any midi clip, then delete the clip that you just inserted the clip effect on..... Crash! :) You don't even have to double click.

I wish I knew, but ever since they banned me from their forum I haven't seen hide nor hair of 'em. I guess you can hang out here. As long as you lay low no one will suspect.
