John TIf you mean for uninstalling, it should be visible in the "uninstall a program" link in Control Panel.
I meant the actual drivers. I'm going to have to manually remove them. I don't think that is what is causing the error though so I may be SOL on that one. Might just be the installer itself is buggered. I will give it another go tomorrow with a fresh copy.
Yep, I'm talking about the actual drivers. I know this isn't the case for all drivers, but the v700 driver does log an item in the programs list. I'm guessing that's how most or all of the Roland drivers work.

You're not being super clear about what you're trying to do or what you mean by the "actual drivers," but my mistake before I found this thread was that I tried installing the old 8.1 drivers on 10, got to a certain point, and the installation quit. However, the drivers were partially installed somewhere (maybe? I just know I couldn't do anything without trying to remove the old ones). So what I had to do was go into the driver installation folder for Win 8.1 that I got from the Roland site, go to the 64bit folder, and run the uninstaller from there. However, it said it was incompatible with my version of Windows. To get around this I had to right-click on the uninstaller, and go to properties. I then checked the "Run in compatibility mode for:" and I changed that to Windows 8. Then I was able to finally uninstall and do a clean reinstall using the method in this thread afterwards. I don't know if this helps, but you need to be clearer in your explanation to get good help.

That's what I thought. They were uninstalled properly then because I didn't have that folder so it must have been something in the install application itself. I'll give it another go tonight and see what happens.

MackTheKnight Hi Grem, Yes, the VS-100 is working great in Win 10.
Thanks. I will be upgrading soon. I have gotten very dependent on the VS100. Very good tool for Sonar.

Hi, guys! Could anyone that successfully have installed the VS-100 driver on Win10 please share their .INF-file with me? I tried to do it myself, but even when I disable the Driver Verification it doesn't find my VS-100 during installation. I havent been able to use my studio for almost two weeks, and this is my only problem with Win10 thus far :(

I can confirm that editing the ini file, then disabling the driver signature enforcement works with the Boss BR-800! No bugs as of yet but so far i am running Windows 10 with the BR-800 and everything is working perfectly thanks to this thread!

I have just installed the Windows-8-driver under Windows 10. Just set the driver-signing signatures to OFF and patched the .inf-file. The VS700C is shown as a working interface. Sonar (Platinum) recognizes the interfaces. And Sonar observes wether it is switched on or off. But the VS700C does *** NOT work ***. There is no connection between a fader and a track. It is shown as surface and it is shown in the MIDI-List - but it does not work.

It sure looks like you followed the recipe ... my experience was different and I did get the VS700C to work as it should under SONAR.. puzzling for sure. I'm pressed for time right now, but when I can, I'll try to give you a specific blow-by-blow of my installation and see if we can't see anything that might have gone differently between our two installs. Has anyone else had problems like what THambrecht has seen? -Dur

Perfect - Now the VS700C works perfect. I have to set the surface to Mackie Control. That was the mistake. It must set to Mackie. Onother way to turn the driver-signing OFF and ON: Run "cmd" as Administrator: ##to turn driver-signing OFF: BCDEDIT –Set LoadOptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS BCDEDIT –Set TESTSIGNING ON ##to turn driver-signing ON --- back to the normal state ---: BCDEDIT –Set LoadOptions EENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS BCDEDIT –Set TESTSIGNING OFF

Hello Guys of Great Knowledge. I followed your instructions (I did not originally have the 8.1 drivers, but I installed them after installing win 10) and I just want to say that it worked like a charm. I used the cmd to turn of signature check instead of rebooting. I use the whole package v700 package and it is smooth. I wonder when Gibson/Cakewalk is going to realise what excellent software/hardware combination this is and buy it back and front it like the flagship it is. Surly someone there has common sense? PS. seems like there is a lot of confusion between .ini and .inf files in these threads. It should be .inf file, that's the driver information.

Yep, that's exactly what I did; went from 7 to 10. The simplest process is to uninstall the driver from 7 BEFORE doing the Windows upgrade. Then do the modification to the driver before BEFORE installing the driver in W10. Best of luck, but everything you need to know is in the first post of the thread. Follow it closely, and you'll be fine.

Thanks for posting all this, folks. Upgraded from Win 7 64 to Win 10 yesterday evening, and installed my VS-700 (interface and console) without any problems at all. I was up and running again within minutes, courtesy of the 8.1 drivers and the hacked .inf file, and so far everything is working just fine, including the Fantom synth (which had given me problems in Win 7). I understand there should be some minor performance benefits to moving to Win 10. Here' s hoping...

For a complete temporary solution for the VS100, see: "http://forum.cakewalk.com/Sonar-VStudio-100-Driver-Does-not-load-on-Windows-10-m3269153.aspx" Again I had to use quotes for the link. To my opinion there is no need to rollback the W10 installation to W7 or W8. Jan

Hey fellow Cakewalkers, I was able to use the commands that THambrecht posted to run cmd as administrator and use that to turn off and on driver-signing and with the .inf file changes was able to install the 8.1 driver in Windows 10. Steps I did was: - Turn off signing from the cmd console under admin rights - Restart the machine. - On restarting the machine, my main screen now showed "Test Mode" "Windows 10" in the bottom half of my machine. - Plugged in my VS-100 to a USB port - Went to device manager and removed the old Windows 7 driver. - Unplugged my VS-100 from USB - Navigated to the 8.1 driver downloaded with the modified .inf file (as shown in other posts). - Ran the install. - Got a Windows warning screen about un-signed driver, clicked on "install anyway". - Install program worked as normal, including telling you when to plug in the VS-100. - After install program completed, bring up the cmd console with Admin rights and turn signing back on. - Restart the machine. After restart the "Test mode" text in the bottom right of the screen was gone. - Brought up Sonar X3 and it works like a champ :-) Thanks so much to everyone on the forum that helped out on this. I'm really glad to have my VS-100 working again :-) Cheers, Alan

As I see on the Roland Compatibilty Site, Roland has interred the VS700 Console. With a trick it is possible to install the Windows 8.1 driver on windows 10. But with me it works only with Mackie protocol - and not with the "Cakewalk Generic Surface" I cannot switch the faders between track and bus. And I cannot switch the faders +8 Has someone any workaround to get it really to work with the "Cakewalk Generic Surface" ?

Guess I'm going to trying this hack soon but am wondering if anyone has tried using the Win 7 64bit drivers instead of the Win 8 ones? If I understanding it correctly, the more recent Win 8 drivers introduced a problem with the Main fader going out of sync and I'm wondering if I modified in inf file as per above and follow the steps, it might work? Here the section from the Win7 64bit console only drivers:

Hey. I've tried this method with no luck - only I used the cmd in admin mode approach. It didn't work. Then I used the method with shift-restart - troubleshooting .. and so on... outlined in the beginning of this thread - worked like a charm! I own the BR-800, and finally, I don't hate it! :-) I joined this forum to say thanks, guys! And to possibly help others who are not having luck With the cmd approach.
