Bit Your SoundClick page has a list of equipment you use. Is that some of the stuff that was taken? I'm more than happy to monitor Craigslist in Portland area and see if anything shows up. Take care.

Yikes. I don't know what to say. Hopefully they will get caught.

Dave - just a thought this seems awfully coincidental that it has happened not long after you started gigging with a new band after several years of not being in one. I don't know if that points to a band member or someone you met in the venue(s) or if it means anything at all. just a thought to get you to thinking in that direction if you haven't already.

Yes it was not likely to be random. But we also all leave lots of information about ourselves and our gear online.

I just read this and I'm so sorry for your loss. Equipment can be replaced, but the loss of those projects is a real blow. It does sound like you were targeted by someone who knew what you had, where you had it, and how to get to it. I'm hoping they are caught and you're able to get your data and all of your gear back.

Dave, Echoing what Reese said above, not sure about band mates theory (that would be pretty bad), but maybe someone that was present at your recent gig followed you after the show. Think about some suspicious characters from recent gigs and it may jog something in your memory. Sorry to hear about this and happy to help if possible or needed. Regards

If they do not know (yet) about the robbery ask for a band meeting. Their response may be telling.

My bandmates have been very supportive, offering to monitor Craigslist and post on FB and forums. They wouldn't have anything to do with it, I'm sure. I mean, this pretty much kills the band now. Plus I've had indications of someone trying to get in before, going back to 1997 when I first moved into this house. For those offering to keep an eye on Craigslist, please do, especially in nearby places such as Portland. At least some of the items are things you don't see often on Craigslist, like my ADAM P11-A monitors or M-Audio subwoofer. My Ventilator Leslie sim is another, as is my TC Helicon VoiceLive unit. Also my Shure KSM-44 microphone isn't something people often sell second-hand. Thanks for all the words of support. That's why this was my first call after the police, insurance company and bank. Cheers!

Damn.... I know the feeling. I came home to find my door ajar and my musical gear gone. They left the TV, the stereo, didn't mess with searching the house..... just took musical gear. Long story short.... a neighbor saw a grey car and someone throwing something into it. I knew 2 musicians who had grey cars.... and one was dirt poor the other was a rich man's son. I spoke to the poor guy..... he acted really strange when I showed up.... later that night the cops picked him up based on what I told them and the gear was recovered and returned the very next day. Whoever did that to you Dave, knew what they were looking for and it was strictly musical gear. Don't overlook any possibilities. Hope this case gets solved and you get the gear back. BTW: My Gibson SG guitar was actually stolen from me twice. One in the story above, and the other happened some time before that. It was stolen during a load out from a gig. It took 6 months to get it back. I had figured it was gone for good. Then one day I got a call from the Naval officer investigating the case..... said he had a guitar that I should come and identify. It was my guitar, recovered in a fence's house, busted in Philadelphia. It was stolen in NC. That was some real fine detective work.

My story from 1973 is the reverse of that. I came home to find my door wide open and my musical still there (in the apartment's living room from a previous night of jamming). They took the TV and the stereo, didn't mess with searching the house..... just took basic pawnable/sellable stuff. Still, I know the feeling regardless of what is taken.

Hmmmm, I would cry. In fact, I feel like crying. I will be going into full voodoo mode tonight. I know most don't believe in that, but I can make it work. You might not get your stuff back, but the perps will experience loss soon. Bad thing is, you won't get to know about it. Also, and this sounds real douchey, it is a chance to start fresh. I once intentionally destroyed hard drives with over 6 hours of projects, I smashed them to smithereens with a pick axe and then poured mass quantities of epoxy glue over them. I felt encumbered by the old stuff. I did mix everything down to wav files before I did it, but the projects were gone. There was no going back. I'm glad I did it. It made me free. Your loss is incredible, you must feel heart stricken, you have every right to be angry and sorrowful. I've probably interjected way to much already, so I'm going to take a leave of absence, as what I have said may be seen as uncaring or way out of touch. My apologies if so. Jesse Q. Screed

I cannot accurately express my feelings regarding this without violating almost every forum rule there is. I am deeply sorry for your loss ol pal, although I know that is cold comfort now. I have zero sympathy for anyone who would perpetrate such an act and my wishes for their prolonged existence is, quite literally, unspeakable. I also have studio gear laying around that could be put to good use and you are welcome to what I have to offer. Just PM me a list of what you need and if I have it to spare...it's yours.

I've been quite lucky in that the only valuable thing I've ever had stolen has been a bicycle. But it was a nice one, a Claud Butler, and it was my only way of getting around at the time. I locked it up outside a friend's house, went inside, had a couple of glasses of wine and a few J's, came bouncing outside all merry and joyful and the sight of the empty space where my bike had been was just a horrible, horrible feeling. You feel so violated and helpless. Didn't help that I had to walk almost 8 miles home that night, seething with rage at the thought of someone else parking their dirty thieving backside on it. Yep, I don't care what the "background" of the culprit is, a thief is a thief is a thief and they're all scum.

At one point there was a site called Gear-Track where you could register all of your gear with serial numbers etc so that buyers could do a search before purchasing anything offered for sale second hand. However it doesn't seem to be active any more, I wonder what happened to it.
