It won't save the world, it isn't a life changer either, but it is 3 very nice sounding compressors for $27.

Jimbo21 I don't know, maybe the hype is surpassing reality.
Gee, that's never happened before.
Ha, well I just spent way more than $27 on lunch, so the risk of hype doesn't seem that great to me. Clint has turned me onto several really good plug ins.

The praise is pretty amazing for this comp, from perusing various sites around the interweb. I can't remember anything recently to this level. At least from my perspective, this beat out Slate VBC and The Glue (which I use all the time until now) on the last mix I did on the 2 bus and I used it on several tracks as well. I've wasted a lot of money $20 - $50 at time buying plugins over the years. I think I'll be using this one often.

update 1.0.2 | MJUC variable-tube comp | Klanghelm
2015/07/30 12:21:10
(permalink)
updated to 1.0.2 - In HQ mode, the cutoff frequency of the oversampling filters now change depending on the sample rate (now always near half the sample rate) - DENSITY and ISTAGE now trigger the AGC calculation too. Apart from that, there are a few stability and compatibility improvements for older Windows machines.
MJUC jr. has been updated too (version 1.0.1) - reduced CPU load when using the plugin's internal bypass - when used on stereo channels, GR-meter now shows the gain reduction of the stereo sum instead of left channel only - FIX: default state gets recalled properly now in ProTools - FIX: occasional erratic VU-needle-behavior - FIX: OSX: 64-bit AU didn't pass AU-validation on some systems - FIX: Windows: overall better compatibility with older Windows machines

I just upgraded to TDR Kotelnikov GE today. I'm very pleased with my Compressors at the moment. MJUC for pretty much everything and Kotelnikov on the master bus. I'm living large!

Does the MK2 really sound like an 1176? Does it at least sound like the IK Black 76? If it is a legit sounding 1176 with the added features of scf, mix, etc, then I'm going for it. I have always wanted an 1176 with modern features. Hoping this is the one.

I don't know the answer to that question, but I finally gave in to peer pressure - I'm currently waiting for my download info. I'm currently working on a rock tune and I think this plugin should work nicely.

clintmartin Yep, I'll be buying this one for sure. Klanghelm is one of the best devs out there IMHO.
Same here. I started with his VUMT meters at that time they were free. When he decided to charge I bought them & all his products since.
Same here. The SDRR (Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll) saturation plugin is also excellent. Also only €22, whatever that is currently in US$.

It'll be at least a few days, but sure, I can do that. My initial plan is try it on the drum, guitar and master busses before using Ozone's limiter. I guess I'll see how that goes...

I love it on everything. I prefer TDR Kotelnikov GE on the master bus, but MJUC Mk2 or Mk3 could easily work there. All three comps are stellar and fun to use. I always use the HQ setting and the auto volume matching works perfectly.

OK, here ya go... As mentioned in the thread below I used mode II and III on three separate busses, with slight tweaks to suit. I was very pleased with the results... as Soundblend said - can't go wrong with this one. http://forum.cakewalk.com...er-Paste-m3282026.aspx

I bought MJUC a couple of weeks ago and LOVE it! But I'm having an issue - When using in Sonar it isn't "wrapped" like all my other plugins. I don't know if that's the proper term, but it doesn't have the pin and other icon across the top like every 3rd party plugin has in Sonar. and it always sits on top of Sonar instead of being "attached", if that makes any since! lol And I can only have one instance open at a time. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong via install, where I have the dll located or something. Just wondering if this is the way Klanghelm's plugs work for everyone, or if I'm doing it wrong. TIA

It sounds like you installed the 32bit version of the plug-in. 32bit plug-ins are loading using BitBridge. The standard VST header is not displayed for bridged plug-ins unless the plug-in is opened with the ALT key held down. Then the standard header opens in a separate window typically behind the plug-in UI. Other ways to determine if a plug-in is 32bit.Tthey are shown in green in the browser. The plug-in name is appended with (32-bit) in the browser and menus. You should remove the 32bit dll from the VST scan path and replace it with the 64bit version.

Fleer Have been eying it too, Meshman.
I asked the seller why he's getting rid this "excellent" plugin and he said: "MJUC is superb. As is DC8C2. But neither of them really fit my workflow....I'm only sparingly using CPU-light plugins as I track 16+ simultaneous audio channels into Logic. As Logic still has a stupid single-core limitation when recording live inputs, the slightly larger CPU footprint of Klanghelm stuff rules it out. For mixing, it's no problem, but I prefer tracking with EQ & dynamics on each channel, attempting to mimic my old hardware mixing desk days. So far, it's been fruitless with almost all plugins, unsurprisingly." Moral of the story: don't just limit yourself to Logic.......instead, use your inner Sonar in achieving the mojo of true time traveling tube compression.

I just tried it on a new tune, loading MJUC (using a mastering preset) directly before Ozone 5 with just a little hi-pass EQ and limiter. It's difficult to make any solid conclusions from one case, but I think it did help to glue things and make the mix punchier. Or it's placebo. I figure I have a 50/50 chance.
