I haven't had a chance to install yet (I've lost my internet connection with Win 10 upgrade ), but really looking forward to using this.

Do you use it for Mastering as well?

I just tried it on a new tune, loading MJUC (using a mastering preset) directly before Ozone 5 with just a little hi-pass EQ and limiter.    It's difficult to make any solid conclusions from one case, but I think it did help to glue things and make the mix punchier.   Or it's placebo.   I figure I have a 50/50 chance.

I'll take that as a 100% successful Mojo effect.
Thanks Steve.

Wow, guys.  I bought this one when it went on sale and I was on vacation, this last Summer.  I completely forgot that I did.  Must have been a good vacation.

I still have to down load it and try this out.  It sounds like everyone is liking this compressor a lot.

I briefly tried it out last night on a few audio tracks and yes, was immediately impressed (just testing out the presets)and 3 models to choose from?? so very nice!!!). I can see why Clint is using it everything.

I have, yes. It really depends on the sound and feel I'm going for. If the 2 track mix needs that little bit of old school color (for lack of a better term), then I strap it on and see what I can get.

I'm so taken with this plugin, that I have plans to try Tony's other wares.

Well, let me ask this, I just finished up studying and getting some EQ's I like and I have just moved onto the same with compressors. I am using 8.5 but own X3 and am looking for a big snowstorm to strand me with nothing else to do but install it :)

My work has come down to 99% acoustic guitars and vocals with or without a small amount of production e.g. drums, cello, piano, etc. Essentially singer / songwriter, or think the Johnny Cash American V, A Hundred Highways CD as a reference track e.g.:

"Help Me":

"Like the 309":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0hgBB0fisU

Does anyone use this comp on acoustic guitars or vocals?

I have been looking primarily at IK Multimedia IK Multimedia T-Racks Vintage Compressors Bundle which is currently on sale

https://www.jrrshop.com/computer-software/download-licenses/ik-multimedia-t-racks-vintage-compressors-bundle-download-license

Or the CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier:

But with the hoopla I hear I am wondering if this would be a very good buy?

I use the MJUC on acoustic guitar and acoustic piano. The MK 2 mode is similar to an 1176.
How to use for acoustic guitar: dial in a good amount of compression then set the mix knob to about 50%.
The "holes" in-between the sound will be filled in while the picking transients will be preserved.

I have not used it on vocal simply because the IK Black 1176 has always been my go-to for that.
I'm sure the MJUC would be an excellent vocal compressor.
It is very common to use two 1176 compressors on vocal, or an 1176 and LA-2A:
The first one set to a higher ratio and only grabbing the absolute peaks, the second one set to a lower ratio and compressing most of the time.
The MJUC is only about 30 US dollars so it is a good deal if you are on a budget (like most of us).

So it seems, for my needs, both the Klanghelm and the IK bundle is a really good way to go. In addition, the Klanghelm will give me some variability for the flute, cello or synth, etc that comes along as needed...

Thanks much Mike, very much appreciated!

I love MJUC, but X3 also adds two very good compressors in the Pro channel. You may try those first.

Well, therein the rub, my time here is limited, and to install and get good at X3 is a fair chunk of time; I am still happily perfecting my 8.5 skills and many people want to record and I want to do my own music, my swan song...unless I am given a month with nothing to do...but I wanted to support Cakewalk so I bought X1 -3. Anyhow, I am going to do it tonight (the MJUC) and then it is done, it is living for today :)

Incidentally Clint, I subscribed to your YouTube channel yesterday and had a good listen. You should be proud at what you do :)

Sorry to resurrect this thread from slumber but a quick Q:

Does anyone have a feel for the"timing" setting (1-6) in MK 1.

I am trying the plug today as a "glue" on a mix and all is well. But I'm not getting a big feel for this setting. For the MK 1, as an example, the mix and master presets I've looked at suggest a "6" setting.

With gentle compression dialed in, if I switch it to "2" from "6", I don't hear a big difference, but it may be just because it is getting late...

MK3 is the cleanest of the three comps, and probably best for the master bus...
Having said that, I really like MK2 best for almost everything...of course there are no rules.

Timing constants of the compressor: 1: fast attack/fast release 2: slow attack/medium release 3: slow attack/longish release 4: slow attack/long release 5: slow attack/fast program dependent release 6: fast attack/long program dependent release

(Thanks for the compliments months ago on my songs. I never noticed them before!)

You deserve the compliments in a big way!

And thanks for the info on the timing, where did you get that?

Yeah, I am looking for color so MK 1 or MK 2 is where I'm going to go with this, and stick with MK 3 perhaps for mostly percussive material.

But like you astutely say, there are no rules!

On my MJUC, if I hover the mouse over the control it gives a short description of what the control does. It shows practically verbatim what Clint posted about the timing settings, as well as all the other knobs and buttons.
