I think Asio for all shows that many are mixing in sonar but capturing the audio using something else like zoom or Tascam or other.
I think sonar might benefit from a drop out and continue choice where a dropout would be marked and the recording would continue despite the glitch. This is the behavior of RME DigiCheck.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I believe reviews can be very useful and informative but I don't think the monthly update e-zine is the proper location to include reviews. Placing reviews in the e-zine overlooks Cakewalk product owners and forum users that do not download and read the Sonar monthly updates. For instance my daw is Music Creator so I rarely look at the monthly Sonar update e-zine but I still visit the forum on a regular basis. I would place hardware reviews as a thread in the hardware section of the forum. Likewise I would place software reviews in the software forum section. Voicing how well a hardware or software product meets it's marketing goals and intergrates with, or adds functionality, to Cakewalk's premier software product makes sense; this is after all Cakewalk's forum! A few months ago forum member Matt Finley wrote about getting a Behringer surface controller to work with Sonar. Good information and well worth the read even though I don't have that surface controller. I hope more forum members will review their experience using other products. It helps everyone make good, informed decisions.

I skim them even if not of real interest to me becasue either I don't' need item (e.g., already have half dozen similar items already) or don't want it (e.g., have no interest in low-fi apps, hate anything EDM related, etc.). But while I may not read each "in-depth" I will at least remember at a future dates that I read something referencing item xyz. Which brings up; I'd like to see the eZine itself added to the rolling updates package. Good work on your reviews by the way Thanks Submit Post

I just learned that there is an ezine today. That said, I don't know what it is, where it is or how to find it with minimal effort. I read your appolo review. It was a good read. Still made me wonder if firewire is the same thing as ADAT and why don't mfgrs do more with ADAT. And, if the appolo USB interface has ADAT, why would I want USB. Those are just some random thoughts anyhoo.

timidi I just learned that there is an ezine today. That said, I don't know what it is, where it is or how to find it with minimal effort. It's kind of like raves used to be. Someone gave you a card that told you to go to a phone booth, which had a sticker that told you which bus stop to go to, where you found another note directing you to a warehouse, where a sign on the door directed you to another warehouse, then that warehouse had a note pinned to a window with a number to call to get further instructions...ah, those were the days... Anyway, you go to Cakewalk.com > Products > SONAR > Rolling Updates > Current Updates and you'll find it listed with the other features for the updates. If you scroll down to other updates, you'll find links for previous eZines.

timidiI read your appolo review. It was a good read. Still made me wonder if firewire is the same thing as ADAT and why don't mfgrs do more with ADAT. And, if the appolo USB interface has ADAT, why would I want USB. Those are just some random thoughts anyhoo. Good questions, I may need to rent you for the Q&A segments at my workshops. Firewire and USB are bi-directional protocols for handling computer data. ADAT is a unidirectional optical protocol that handles 8 channels (at 44.1 and 48 kHz, fewer at higher sample rates) of digitized audio data. So, USB or Firewire is how your interface connects to your computer. ADAT is what allows sending 8 channels of digital audio from one piece of ADAT-compatible audio gear to another. For example, suppose you have an Apollo Twin. It has two mic ins. Legendary funk drummer Mike Clark shows up at your house with his drums, and you panic because you don't have enough mic pres. Fortunately you remember the Cakewalk Blog post I wrote on audio interface basics, where I used audio analysis equipment to measure the performance of TASCAM's mic pres so no one could accuse me of being biased. Also having read my review of the TASCAM US-20x20 in a previous ezine, you realize it has 8 of those preamps, and an ADAT output. Eureka! So you order a US-20x20 from Amazon, a drone delivers it in 26 minutes, you plug the US-20x20's ADAT out into the Apollo Twin's ADAT in, and 8 channels with excellent mic pres now show up in the Apollo console software, where they can appear as inputs to SONAR. You set up the mics, Mike plays an incredible drum part, and decades later, musical historians concur that Clark's part was the crucial factor that propelled your single, "The Word 'Awesome' Must Die," into being the #1 song of 2017. Isn't technology wonderful?!?!?
