I thought the 30% deal ended Dec 31 as an early adopter special. I have not been to the website since I bought the thing about a week ago.

So they did not raise the price yet. When I bought I was going by the info from the developers in the KVR instrument thread where they indicated the price would go up and the end of the 2012. Guess they have not got around to it yet.

They have raised the price, it's $99.95.

I meant above (if it was $69.97) I'd buy it. Trying to decide if $100 is really worth it.

For anyone still having problems running in Sonar, make sure Input Echo is enabled on both the MIDI Guitar track and the soft synth track.

Some synths are more accurate than others. The True Pianos VST that comes with Sonar was pretty bad: extra notes, missing notes., etc., while Alchemy and z3ta were pretty much spot-on.

Just curious. Do you have loopMIDI or loopBe1 (or a similar product) already installed? As I said above, this product only worked in SONAR after I enabled loopBe1.

No loopMIDI or loopBe1 or anything like that. I was pleasantly surprised it worked just following the directions from the website. I half-expected to spend two hours just trying to get a sound out of it.

Sounds like we missed the discount. While it looks promising, I wouldn't pay $100 for it, but then I'm probably just spoiled from all the great deals I'm used to seeing here.

Since it's still beta, maybe we could negotiate a deal as a group. That would greatly benefit the developer as we are always working on solutions to issues that arise as a group. I'm interested and would be happy to contact them on our behalf.

thanks for the offer and if you do contact them I would be interested.. perhaps! Not loaded it up yet but shall do over the weekend and if it is useful I would be interested at around $60 - not sure about anymore as I quite like the look of the Triple Play and can't see a use for both!

If the developer is willing, I'm in on this as well and do like Nigel's pricing proposal......not sure if it's worth a $100 yet, but it certainly has the potential to develop into something very good.

Playing Z3ta on the guitar was simply fantastic and I'm going to check it out with Sonar tonight. I'd still like to play with it more and see if the response could be improved.

I've got a Roland strat and the GR-33, and I didn't think this was in the same league...and my GR-33 is two generations ago, from Roland.

I found it glitchy and the latency was pretty bad.   All the videos are people playing whole notes and strings and such...

The 30% off deal was a beta, intro offer, supposedly ending 1/1/13...but I think with a pile of offers, they'd  offer it up again.

Hi Robert,

To be honest, I haven't done a single thing with it......I'll probably do something once I build a new 64bit machine (time permitting with my 3 little ones). I'm sure there's a bit of a learning curve involved which I can't commit the time to (yet), but very interested in doing something in the future....I may have to tap into your experience later on. :)

I'm hoping the developer for this MIDI software will work on all the improvements to making this a useful tool for us.

Mixmkr: I have a pretty old system (built in 2007) with Vista running and got it to work fairly well (32 bit)....it wasn't perfect, but did tweak the settings and used the ASIO drivers to get it in a decent playable condition. Did you try adjusting some of the settings?

Mesh...  yeah, I messed around several times... tried ASIO, WDM, etc...  I was getting about 10ms latency as a guess, as my best, after adjust buffers, etc.  VERY quick slap back kind of delay.  Using my Layla 3G and Sonar, it was pretty glitchy too or tracking about 70% and throwing in odd noises every now and then, which would totally rule out live use for me.  I tried several guitars and sounds going in as well.  Since I'm very interested in MIDI guitar, I'm really wanting this to happen, but either I'm missing something or I've gotten used to my current setup with the Roland GR and Roland Strat.

I'll be watching this closely though.  I don't give up easily!

one last item... using the trial version, when I transposed down, that wasn't working either.  IOW, the bottom note remained the same, but only where I now played it on my guitar.  Using the trial piano sound...  so it worked as far as where I played it on the guitar, but I couldn't play lower sounding notes.

Sorry to hear that mixmkr....
For me, it worked fairly well as far as latencey goes and I didn't notice any. It couldn't keep up with quicker picking patterns as I'd like it to (with Input Sensitivity is maxed), but didn't do any buffer changes in my Line 6 TonePort soundcard. Alchemy was just a treat!!!

You can see if this latency issue can be fixed with using your network cable router (WIFI MIDI)......since it's still in the developement stages, we may be the ones who find some of the solutions.

Question: I've followed the steps from their website. I think I'm missing something here: when I have the plugin configured as synth, it shows up in the synth menu, but I can't place/drag it to the FX bin of the audio track that I created. What am I missing? Rusty

Just playing with their latest version (0.6.1) in standalone, I must say it's a much better improvement (response-wise). They tweaked and streamlined a few of the configuration/menu's and I noticed a smoother/more fluid result when playing.

Still, I wouldn't pay the $99 cover charge......maybe 1/2 that and a few more updated versions down the line.

The You Rock Guitar is pretty cool! I need to install the software on my new computer. I've been using it on my ipad for sketching out compositions and cues when I am away from my home studio. The things tracks well. It doesnt take long to get over the initial "detached" feeling either. I've actually used it with the ipad to do some promo videos with original score at a school I teach at with some pretty good results. It's amazing how creative you have to be when working with a "limited" device like the ipad. The YRG works well with most of the synth apps as long as you experiment with the settings.

I tried this and I am very surprised how good Midi-Guitar is.  Much better than hardware guitar to midi converters.
I use Guitar audio -> Line 6 audio Asio driver -> The Midi Guitar standalone software -> loopMidi driver software -> Sonar -> Any software instrument -> Sonar audio output to M-audio Asio driver.  Just super fine with low latency and very few ghost notes.

Some small bugs (this is beta 0.6). Workaround is to start loop midi first, then Midi Guitar and assign the output to "Loop midi" before using "Loop midi" as midi input in Sonar.

Scook,

Watching this one closely. Revolutionary software after some bugs worked out. Website still has the 0.6.1 beta download.

Don't know where you are getting your info on the new release. Maybe hasn't hit this side of the pond yet.

Best,
