Whatever works best for each person's needs and wants is the best OS. Any comments about which is better might just as well be those stupid commercials for the 'Left' and 'Right' sides of Twix bars, where one side is folded and the other is blended, or whatever. If you like those commercials, then by all means keep up this ridiculous bashing. Me? I am going to go have a Kit Kat bar, because THEIR commercials have cool rhythmic snapping sounds. Bob Bone

trimph1 You know, I am getting sick and tired of all this PC vs Apple stuff. They both have their weaknesses and their strengths. Honestly, we have some really powerful platforms here that can do way more than some of the things we used even 7 years ago. I just wish both sides would just grow up and stop b***tching at each other here... Sheesh.
I agree but unfortunately this war of words has been going on for years.
You know, the funny part about it is that the huge composers/songwriters/artists actually use both. I was at a huge composers studio and an even bigger artist's facility in the past month and both of them had both Macs and PCs. They both said there are things one can do that the other can't and liked the fact they could use both in projects. I got off the Sonar wagon for 3 reasons: workflow, stability with my plugins, and Sonars integration (or lack there of with external synths. My reasons for switching may not be an issue to someone who let's say just records all instruments in the box, who is comfortable with the workflow, or who uses a different set of plugins. But the bottom line is the final product, the music, not whether my PC is better than your Mac (or vice versa). Whatever works to get your music across is fine.

When I bought my first sax it was a used bundy. Some fellow’s wife was making him sell it. I got it for $150. Yea everybody at that time was using a selmer. I took my bundy walked across the street went in to the office of the dean of the college of music at the university of miami and told her I wanted in. She said is that your sax? I said yes. She said play me something. I did and I was in. She never asked me if it was a selmer. :-)

I thought it was Selmer-Bundy? I had a Bundy cornet way back in 4th grade.

Yes, bundy is/was selmer's student line. That was one squeaking, squawking sax only out done by the sears and roebuck tenor I bought for $90. I guess the point I was trying to make is what is the worth of being concerned about what DAW or computer someone else is using. It is just a tool. The important thing is to use it.

I agree. The user makes the art, the daw is only as good as the artist. I've heard both great & crap music made with all the ones mentioned.

ubuntu I've moved to Cubase 7. One of the best moves I've ever made. But I still visit this forum. Why? A mixture of nostalgia and curiosity. I've been a Cakewalk user since the previous century.
Ditto - word for word!
bysbox1 ...Ditto 3 . . . . I was always a watcher out here and did not participate much anyway (I mean look at my post count)!... . . .Enjoy everyone. That's probably the longest post I have ever done out here! Wow - only 52 posts since 2006! Now some would call that total self-control! How's it feel to break your silence and chime in so infrequently? I wanted to comment since I'm feeling kinda bad that no one has bothered to acknowledge this and/or reply, especially since you may have possibly 'risked' what's left of your 'Sonar Post Virginity' status. Couldn't let it go unnoticed. Glad you're liking the 'Q'. Myself, I'm hoping to spend more time at it as I did today. But HALion 4 & [now 5] alone is definitely worth the price of admission as it is! Cheers!

What? - you don't feel that your remarks projecting attitudes upon other aren't insulting? I mean, you take a sarcastic snippet and turn it into flaming volcano. This isn't the first time you've complained about someone's rhetorical tactics and then proceeded use those very same methods yourself. Think about - what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
- If you wish to complain about something/someone, don't indulge in it yourself.
- Never start a 'Apple is great thread' on a Windows forum and not expect gainsay.
Frankly, I was already passed the point where I felt that the only answer to your sarcasm was to insult you. Way passed. After a couple of such remarks, what else could one answer, when you feel the need to go on and on and on? The stereotypical view of Apple users is just that - stereotypical. Everyone and their brother knows that. Can't you give it a break and just join the conversation at some point? You've pointed out the fact that generalities were useful and I agree. But after a couple of pokes, I fail to see the purpose of constantly bringing that back on the floor as you do. The Apple users that you insist on poking are not here, your sarcasm benefits no Windows user either - you can take and try to enjoy the conversation, can't you? Lastly I didn't start this thread, and I merely stated reasons why I and certain others thought Apple was simpler to use and a valid platform. Anyway, keep on accusing me of accusing you of accusing me. I'm done with the non sense.
Well and good, although I do think you were a bit rash in even bring that subject up. Also, as I said, most folks don't take general remarks personally, and I would suggest that you do not make assumptions about another's character, unless you are willing to have them made about yours - it's not non-sense at all.
Peace, then? Look, I felt some things weren't called for and I know I was equally harsh in my replies - because at the end of the day, I feel like we're all part of this amazing community and people here are most likely able to tell what's hype and what's a justified decision. By the way, I realize that this is just how I feel and it isn't objective. Anyway, after a while, sarcastic remarks and stereotypes make me feel like some people are taking a step back, putting what I tend to assume is an implicit agreement into question. My fault again - assumptions and implicit agreements. I've held the PC fort so often, I've had that discussion so often in favor of the PC side, turned so many folks onto Sonar (and offered supported and basic training to get them started) that if someone quotes me and replies to me w/ sarcasm, yes, it's a bit like a slap in the face. Not because I use a Mac, but because it's like calling what I wrote BS. That's just how I feel about this place obviously, it isn't a forum rule or anything, and it's actually pretty naive I guess. But I actually prefer it that way. There are too many good folks hanging around here to keep the shield up all the time.

Sorry guys, too many reports on this topic and I think we've all expressed the point multiple times in multiple threads that keep getting locked. Lets please move on for now.
