31 here,

Saw a gig of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers in 1986 in my home town in Holland.
Nice to have seen them in a small concert room before they became HUGE !
Oh and Hillal Slovak was still alive then.

Well, Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin were my first four concerts. If y'all ask who those bands are, then let's just say that I'm celebrating the 20th anniversary of my auto insurance rates dropping this year.

49 years young as of June. I think my first concert was Jethro Tull at the Santa Monica Civic in 73. My first real gig was at a night club called Wild Man Sam's in Orange County, CA. The stage was so rickity that everyone was afraid to get energenic during the show for fear of bouncing a band member off or having it collapse.

thanks for sharing everyone.....its a good thing we have a bunch of mature people helping each other out....if everyone was any yonger....this forum would probably suck... and be loaded with flames and such.

I hope that 67 does not make me the oldest chronologically. But when I grow up, Ill look back on these years as some of the best learning times.

No QB, I think that still makes you younger than b-rock. He's not a first one, he is the first one!

I don't feel a day over 92.

What's my secret? All natural organic lifestyle and holistic cures, pack-and-a-half of Marlboro with my morning cafe cubano, and lots of young chicks.

Yeah? Seems like vampires do the young chicks part of that equation. You're on to something, no doubt. Or just on something!

So Grandpa Mojo isn’t telling (yet), and you’re going to be all mysterious about it (I’m guessing between 38 and 50, right?) that would make me the eldest, and undoubtedly wiseasst of you all!

since i was 19 i have felt personally responsible for the death of sun ra. he came through minneapolis (in 1992) and i missed the concert. he died shortly thereafter. same thing with miles davis at about the same time; could have seen him in 1991, missed the show, then he died. since that time i've made certain i never miss any major jazz musician playing in a town where i live.

what about Grandpa Mojo?!!!!? ne1 know how old he is? or maybe he can tell us himself! :D

    T

Well... let's put it this way, my only son is a year older than you... (doh!)

    I'm 41... but you know, I've been thinking (and I'm serious about this!) - I keep getting told I look like I'm 28-32... so that's what I'm going to start saying... 32. 32. 32. 32.

So, there! You small band of misfits are the only ones that will know from this day forward that my true age is 9 years older than I'll be saying until they take me screaming and scratching in to my coffin.

Hey Mikey: How are those chickens? Par-boiled yet in the heat? No mystery about it. Let's put it this way: I was picked up by the police en route to the original Woodstock concert with guitar in tow. I was hitch-hiking across NY State at the ripe old age of 13. So that wouild make me ... old, and barely holding in your estimated range of ages.

I'm trying to remember my first concert; I missed Hendrix at Woodstock, so that doesn't count. I remember Mountain at the Utica Zoo, and Marshall Tucker/Charlie Daniels on a community college gymnasium floor, but I was into jazz well before rock, so I know that I missing a few. [brain cells or concerts; take your pick].

And, yes, Mikey: You'll always be hands-down the wiseasst of all.

miles davis---see i was trying to figure whether i should tap my toe on the inside of my shoe or tap on the outside; anyway 'laughs' these were the things that i was thinking about during that time.----paraphrased from my memory accuracy who knows.

it was just to cold in pennsylvania, no heat and the arkestra had little money by the time they were able to get SunRa on the train bound for Birmingham, AL it was to late. i spoke with Marshall Allen in new orleans at that years jazz festival and he said SunRa was going to be dead very soon.

    36 ... but I stopped counting at 27 ...

Old enough to know most of the stuff on MTV is crap, young enough to still be embarrassed to admit that I prefer watching VH1 or Austin City Limits.

First concert: Van Halen's 1984 tour. Argh...

To think, at one time P5 was a $429 MSRP app.

Sun Ra - saw him twice, got a white album signed by him and everyone else in the Arkestra - way, way better and more out there than just about anyone. Yeah, fortunate are we, eh?

My first real concert was New York Rock Ensemble (featuring M. Kamen who began writing for movies and, unfortunately, died recently.) My first big name, headliners concert was Matthews Southern Comfort, Deep Purple and Rod Stewart with Faces in 1971 at the Spectrum in Philly. It was a dance concert and cost a whopping $5 to get in. I guess the concert I remember the best (or most fondly) was either Yes opening for ELP or The Band playing with Dylan.... both great experiences.

Talk is cheap; supply outweighs the demand.

Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people look bright before you hear them speak.

Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys, Andy Reid owns them!!
