Ah! I'm 8 years older than you.

If my math is right, that makes me 2 years younger than you. (Gotta keep it a little cryptic )

How's this for a first concert. My high school won a radio contest a was treated to a concert in the gym by:

Little Anthony and the Imperials (Tears on my Pillow)
Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, (Young Girl) and
The Vanilla Fudge (You Keep me Hanging on )

Luckily I soon graduate not only from that high school but also from attending concerts in the gym to the Filmore East.

    Well, let's see... If we're using my "actual" age as a calculator... that would have been '83 or '84. If, however, we are using the *new and improved!* Grandpa Mojo "age rectifier" as a calculator... um, that would have been '92 or '93?..

    And BTW, it IS a rush to play "Thanks for the Memories" as a trumpet player as Bob comes out to a stadium full of people... My first gigs were at small nightclubs when I was 17 or 18... but that was my first "big one"... It was cool... and he was a VERY nice guy! Very down to earth.

    Wow! What an honor!

    <playing "Thanks for the memories" in headtronic unit>

    I stand in awe of Master Grandpa Mojo!

    <quick calc on headtronic unit -- notes go flying -- minor cuts from quarternotes, and a bruise from a long hold over a whole note... calc unit spews numbers>

    That makes you what, 39? Awful young for a Grandpa!

    52 here. I think. Saw jimi in one of his last concerts at the old boston garden. Not sure if it was the substance abuse or jimi and his wall of marshals but he sure did sound fine. No fireing up his guitar though. Last concert was tom waits at the orpheum in boston a couple of years ago. Man thats was a very cool show. Just can't figure out what planet he hails from.

    Ok...rjt, Im from Media, PA...suburb of Philley....went West to Portland Oregon in 1981,
    saw my first real concert at the Electric Factory in Philly in 1968......one night was Country Joe and the Fish, The Small Faces and Canned Heat........$3.50 ticket...and we where ****ing about it.....until we saw these guys.
    By the way a local band in Philley called Mandrake Memorial had a good guitar player...Craig Anderton.

    Very good! Philly was (and probably is) a pretty hot music town. Did graduate work in Florida from 81 to 85 then came out to Portland. You don't happen to be an Eagles (please no jokes about the band.... the football team is much, much older and has made lots more money) fan are you?

    Take Care

    Talk is cheap; supply outweighs the demand.

    Light travels faster than sound, that's why some people look bright before you hear them speak.

    Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys, Andy Reid owns them!!

    See what you started here, Sean? In deference to our younger members here, you'll have to admit that this forum is full of old farts. Someone with a statistical bent could average out the responses and give a median age, but I'd say it's leaning towards middle age (that is, if I live to be 98; extremely doubtful).

    What's up with that? It's about the same age group that I see at the Sonar/P5 tour stops. Is this Geritolware? I don't know if we've all just been through enough software to recognize a good thing when we see it, or something else entirely. It can't just be ease-of-use; there's enough DIY people here that push through the obvious into the unknown. And who in their right mind with presbyopia would knowingly choose the DS864 as a sampler?

    From other threads, it seems that a lot of us have chosen career paths that have taken us away from our music, but that gnawing feeling at the core has brought us back in spite of the logic against that. And P5 is often the relapse 'drug-of-choice'. Are we just a bunch of stubborn rebels who refuse to give in to the reflection in the mirror?

    I'd say it was just a mid-life crisis, but I've personally been through about a half-dozen of those already. From now on, I'm referring to the arpeggiator as the AARP. Here's to changing the name of the software to Project55. Firstly, because I can't drive 55. Hell, that's the speed that I parallel park at. That, and I want free checking.

    presbyopia

    i come here just to look up words like this
    Main Entry: pres·by·o·pia
    Pronunciation: "prez-bE-'O-pE-&, "pres-
    Function: noun
    Etymology: New Latin
    : a visual condition which becomes apparent especially in middle age and in which loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye causes defective accommodation and inability to focus sharply for near vision

    ORIGINAL: b rock
    ..... Hell, that's the speed that I parallel park at. ....

    my calculus teacher was an Ethiopian rebel (the rebellion lost and since he had to leave Ethiopia he went to school at oxford to hide) and i personally witnessed him remove his vehicle from a parallel park at 55mph so i believe you.

    Welcome to the forum, Kaysee, and Happy Birthday. What a great forum moniker: IsThisThingOn. For a minute there, I thought that your real name had to be Mike [mic]. I can tell you from experience that 40 was nothing; it's turning 41 that sucks. Then you've gone from "just 40" to "forty-something".

    Whatever you do, don't think it through tomorrow. Just enjoy yourself. Otherwise, you may realize that you're actually beginning your 41st year of life on this planet (even discounting the womb-time) at some point on Saturday.

    well looks like most all of us could use this:

    This bread is a duplicate of a 2,000-year-old recipe used by the little known civilization of Hunza.

    The Hunzas are considered to be the healthiest people on earth. Their bread is the main part of their diet. This bread is absolutely delicious.

    "The Hunzas exist isolated from the rest of the world in the Himalayan Mountains where they live to be 110 to 120 years of age. They have no cancer, heart attacks or other major disorders to speak of. They are active and fit to the end of their lives. Men father children at 100 years of age and older.

    Hunza Bread Recipe

    * 4 cups of water
    * 3.5 (three & one half) to 4 pounds of natural buckwheat or millet
    flour
    * 1.5 (one & one half) cups of canola oil
    * 1.5 (one & one half) cups of natural unrefined sugar
    * 16 ounces of honey
    * 16 ounces of molasses
    * 4 ounces of powdered soya milk (half cup)
    * 1 teaspoon sea salt
    * 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    * 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    * 2 teaspoons baking powder (non aluminium)

    Grease and lightly flour cooking pan(s). Ideally use
    baking trays with about 1 inch high sides. Pour batter in pan(s) half
    an inch thick over the base. Bake at about 300 degrees fahrenheit (150
    C.) for 1 hour. After cooking, dry the bread in the oven for two (2)
    hours at a very low heat - 90 degrees fahrenheit (50 C). After it is
    cooled tip out and cut into approx 2 inch x 2 inch squares. Store it
    wrapped in cloth in a container.

    bear in mind if you eat or share this bread in the usa you are probably breaking the law. use at your own risk. i look forward to fathering a child at 100. i hope the forum is still here.
