I just sent an email to Spectrasonics asking for a third tier/option in their pricing of the Omnisphere v.2.0 update. There is one price for those who only own Omnisphere; there is a lower price for those who own all three, but not one for those who own two of the three products. Do not know what if any reply I will get, but it does not hurt to ask.

Thanks, Paulo. Let's hope Spectrasonics offers the option of ordering hard media as an alternative. Of course, online retailers might opt out of taking orders for physical product, since that's not what they do. But other vendors such as Sweetwater might still offer a boxed product, if Spectrasonics makes it available.

I expect that you'll get a reply, they have always been very good in that way in my experience, just not the one you would have hoped for. I asked a while ago if they offered any incentive deals for Omni/Trilian owners to complete the trio and buy RMX but they said didn't anticipate that this was likely to happen, so I'd be surprised if they would accomodate a similar request on a new product.

Yeah, hope so. As I understand it, T&S as well as an online business are also the UK supplier/distributor of the physical goods we see in UK stores / retailers, so the fact that they have said this already would seem to indicate that there will be no media box for the upgrades available here. :(

Update: Just had another email from T&S which contains FAQ re Omnisphere 2.... "We have also had a Q&A session with Spectrasonics where we have put across a whole range of questions; from delivery information, system requirements, to additional insights into the newest features in Omnisphere 2." The two questions regarding delivery are somewhat contradictory in the nature of the responses........ Will Omnisphere 2 be a downloadable product? Spectrasonics strongly believe that their instruments should remain as a physical package only. Only the additional contents for the Omnisphere 2 Upgrades (14GB) will be available as a download. Will the Omnisphere 2 Upgrade be available on physical media like DVDs? Not at this time. The Spectrasonics download service is highly reliable though… even with slower connections.

sounds like they might slap a v2 sticker on existing Omiisphere boxes and the v2 content will be available as a download... just guessing...

I did get a reply, but they said that they don't offer a middle tier and that I should buy RMX so that I could qualify for the VIP discount. They are sticking to their guns, probably because they know that we will buy it at the asking (two tier) price. Well, it did not hurt to ask. But, not going to happen.

Omnisphere is my favorite VST. Not far after that in order of favorites is Stylus RMX. Stylus RMX is pretty amazing actually. The quality of sounds and breadth of capability is very Spectrasonics. Highly recommend it!

You will love it. I have Geist, which is also very cool. But Eric and Spectrasonics make stuff that is so powerful and gets fast return for the effort of using it. Stylus RMX just gets better every time you work with it. Here's an extra kicker, they have miles and miles of tutorials on it so there are plenty of ways to learn how to go from simple to smart using it. And, PlugIn Guru has some great free tutorial material and very low cost but rich add-ons.

Omnisphere 2 for $199? That's a no brainer.

Not to pile it on, but it looks like this deal is potentially still available. $199 for all of the Nine Volt Audio collection (which is huge). That entire collection is completely set up for Stylus RMX. You just open up Stylus RMX and everything from that collection can be utilized in seriously amazing ways. That includes key sounds, guitar sounds, it goes on and on. http://www.ninevoltaudio.com/ I also want to mention that John at PlugInGuru is truly a hero. The YouTube video you found, for example, exemplifies what a treasure of info he provides, and how he contributes to the libraries available.

must....................resist......................must..........................resist nah, not going to happen. I'll be ordering! :) I bought Omnichill from John and it's great - will need to check out his other stuff. The nine volt stuff seems very interesting, but I struggle even with the $199 price tag... :/

smallstonefan - if you probe a bit and listen to the Nine Volt Audio sizzles (there are some puns in there), you'll probably get charged about what's in there. For like $199 it's like a galaxy of cool stuff. Then that plugs in to Stylus RMX where you can control it and pick and choose what you want from already cool things, and it's a treasure trove.

I have not used Stylus RMX nearly enough, still learning actually. but with Omni, Trillian and stylus - you can throw down a serious song track. I have Reason 7 and with Stylus RMX I have been able to save a REX file and inport it into Stylus to use my own sounds. it's not a simple thing to do but it does work once you have it down. reason I mention it is that it can expand Sylus RMX using your own sounds, samples or converted samples. make sure if you are buying a used copy of Stylus RMX that you are getting the Expanded edition that is newer. TONS more sounds and grooves. I love my Spectrasonics stuff. eager for beginning of May to start playing.

Zo - just go get Stylus RMX. the grooves etc are worth it. I like it much better than my Maschine expansions AND Stylus RMX can be used as a plugin IN Maschine, it's a win win. I have 9 or 10 expansions for Maschine and I really don't use them. I do use Stylus RMX in Maschine, it's kinda cool.

Read that interview with Eric P. last night (there was a link on his FaceBook page). best part was the end of the article, made me happy to at least hear Eric address what's next: What's next for Spectrasonics? "We're super excited to have a lot of things in the works. We've got things in the works for Trilian, and also RMX - we haven't forgotten about rhythm! - so there's a long future for all the things we do. And there'll be new instruments, too - not just the three we've done, but new ones." hopefully 2015 is going to be a good year for Spectrasonics.

"This categorisation takes us years of full-time staff debating over each sound… "Is this 'nightmarish', or is it more 'dreamlike', or both?". It's entirely subjective, and yet not. If subjective had no meaning, then all art would be pointless, right?! We relate to things because of subjective choices made by a director or an artist, so there are universal things, which is why there are scary movies - subjectively scary, but still scary movies!"
And that's why I love presets.

I just took the plunge - Picked up v1.5 from Sweetwater, and already anxiously waiting the 2.0 upgrade! Holy cow, that synth uses a LOT of data - even with SSD's for my OS and sample drives, it still took well over an hour to do the install, and over 42GB used on the sample drive! But, so far it appears that presets seem to load VERY quickly inside Sonar ~ cool stuff! Guess I know what will be eating up a lot of my free time over the next few weeks...
