A wedding and a child-birth have reduced this to an HP laptop, a Tascam USS-122L and a couple of SM-58's. :(
Maybe one day I'll have time and money again. :)

Nice colours Matt, same as our lounge with the red 'feature wall'
Yer cat's a Silver Tabby by the looks...

Thanks.
When i got a divorce a couple of years ago, I reacted by painting my apartment with wild colours, and bought my dream guitar, bongos, and congas.
The freedom was similar to a mid-life crisis.
I've never learned enough about types of cats to know, but you're probably right. She likes to climb up into the tumbadora (lower-pitched conga) when i'm playing them. It's usually fun, but a pain when i'm trying to record.

OK, and this...

Currently as-is, but in a constant state of flux. My goal is to trim & slim everyting to bare essentials. I just don't see the need to surround myself with ... with ... stuff! KIS has always proven itself in every aspect of my life. Hiding from view is my Takamine EN-10C, Jasmine w/Lace humbucker & Martin saddle pickups, and the trusty Ensoniq SQ1+. The older equipment was all bought used on Ebay. The computer & studio cabinetry were hand built by me. There are things I would do different, but time and money ... yeah ... time and money.

Colin , my eyes were drawn to the model I noticed in the first pic.. I also have a JD-70cl and a JD-100ml and I have something simular to that sony rack thing. A mini disc I used to use for years as a DAC.

I'd post a pic, but well the colour of the room would hurt peoples eyes.haha

Hey Colin - I see a picture of Frank Zappa with another photograph in the corner of the frame. Is that you? I'm also curious about the Steve Vai picture.

RE: Pictures of your Studio 2009/05/02 06:20:15 (permalink)
Paul - I've got loads of stuff on Minidisc that I like to listen to now 7 again, hence the Sony

CJ - I'm not sure where I got the idea from - the reason behind it was that before, everything was mounted directly between the Adams, and this was really blurring the stereo imaging, so I got the saw out..........

Roger - the small picture in the Zappa frame is FZ + Moon, from an old Sunday Supplement. The Vai picture is actually a programme from his 2007 tour of Britain, which a friend of mine kindly got framed as a birthday present.

James - up until a couple of weeks ago, there were about an additional 15 pieces of rack gear that haven't been used since I bought Sonar - all now boxed up & in the loft.

Edit to add: The Soundcraft Spirit Studio has NEVER been used to mix any of our stuff - I've used it to mix a couple of live gigs after taking direct outs from the pa desk at onto 2 Fostex D90's - by the time I got round to writing again, after moving house, getting married etc, I went straight to Sonar. Prior to that, all our older stuff was mixed on 2 little Spirit Folio SX desks, slaved together.

don't under estimate the power of a DAW.. some of my friends started out with nothing, 28,000 on their first release was pretty good.. continued made it big.. where were the elitist fools in their studios in the complex a few years later? all packed up and *coughs* off. At the end of it.. they just reinvested the money to buy equipment.

Is that a hair dryer hanging from the rack on the left?
I wouldn't be surprised...I once used a hair dryer and a big metal bowl in a recording...
We were hammered...

I vote this studio as #1.

Hi,

I'll get them as soon as I get a nicer camera other than my cellphone.

Not much ... it's now in half ... the play/write machines and my music machines ... 2 each.
