When I open the preset folder on the ProChannel it takes me to
C:\Users\Tom Deering\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Sonar X1 Producer
then I have to open the folder I created called "ProChannel Presets"
When I open "Preferences">"Folder Locations" I can't find a way to specify a path for ProChannel.
Since I DO NOT want a bunch of random pcp files in "Sonar X1 Producer" and I prefer to keep all saved data off the "C" drive, how do I change the path for ProChannel presets?
Think about it, if you've saved any presets to the "C" drive since your last Image and you have to roll back, you're screwed.
If you want to backup your presets and they are in the "X1 Producer" folder, along with everything else that resides there, you have to select each one individually...

Andrew?
Brandon?

Thanks

What you want to do requires a registry edit.   It's always a good idea to backup your registry prior to making any changes just in case.  IF you are comfortable editing your registry, then follow these steps (if not, then don't try it).

1. Click on the "Start" button.
2. In the Search Programs and Files box type regedit.  This opens the Registry Editor.
3. Working within the left window of the registry editor, expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Expand Software
5. Expand Cakewalk Music Software
6. Expand SONAR Producer
7. Expand X1
8. Highlight UserPaths
9. Within the right window of the registry editor, highlight ProChannelStripPresetFolder, right click on it and select Modify.
10. An Edit String window/box opens up.  Under Value Data is where you edit the path for the ProChannel presets.
11. When finished click Done and close out the Registry Editor.

You should now be able to click on the ProChannel presets folder within Sonar and be taken directly to your preferred presets location.

DeeringAmps,

Glad to hear that edit worked for you.

Thanks for the listen.  I wish it was a Hammond, but no, it's modeled.

Thanks. Love having good presets as a starting point. Makes life so much easier for us part-timers/hobbyists that don't have the time to learn as much as we would like. Well done! And thanks also, for the link to the FX chains presets. I had missed those too. Cheers, Bud

Thanks - this was timely as I'd recently been looking through the Pro Ch settings used on the Floatin' demo as I like those sounds.  It's good to have this range of similar options (and others) to load in.

There are plenty of free add-ons for browsers and download managers (like DownThemAll) that will download all links on a page in one fell swoop.

DownThemAll worked just fine.
Thanks for the presets, much appreciated.

These presets are great starting points for tweaking :)

What would be really helpful is if they include the date of upload with the file on the preset page. That way we can just download the new ones instead of playing a guessing game.

It would be really great if the ProChannel itself could access the site and download the presets on its own. They're small, so it wouldn't even be too much of a hit to have PC audition the presets directly from the site.

Or even just have a button to sync to all available presets.

Exactly - cloud computing.  Not only syncing presets but quick fixes and other content that has been updated or added.  Line6 has been doing that sort of thing for years.  Apple is all over cloud computing with their devices.

I'm sure Cakewalk has been thinking about doing this - if they haven't they'd be missing a big oppornity.  They could take the lead in cloud computing just like they did 64bit.  That would turn some heads as they'd be two steps ahead of pro tools.

We have created over 50 new presets for ProChannel, which you can download today. They are divided in two categories:

  • Presets for ProChannel (in SONAR X1 Producer)
  • Presets that include all modules released for SONAR X1 Producer Expanded
We hope this will turn into a community where users can share their own presets. Cakewalk's Jimmy Landry hasn't slept for nights in order to create some really amazing presets (just to get the ball rolling).

Visit the ProChannel Preset Zone

In addition, we have updated the ProChannel section with new videos, screenshots, and product information. This should give everyone an even better understanding of ProChannel, regardless of if you use it now or not.

New ProChannel page

Still really enjoying the presets - another thank you!

I also uploaded one to the community. My question is --> When the presets are updated with new offerings, how we know which ones are new, and when to check?

The presets are great but a couple of the Pro Channel presets are crashing Sonar.  I can load the preset, but when I press play Sonar crashes.  The ones that crash for me are the Snare Punch and the Hi Hat definition.  The kick and bass work fine.  I haven't tried all of them.

Those 2 along with guitar- modern for me...every time.
I should add that guitartrek gave me a great workaround in another thread; take a screen cap of the plug before hitting play and then make your own preset.

Great Jimmy Landry!! I've downloaded many of the presets and used them in my last song, on bass, on drum comp bus, on female vocals, on guitars, on piano. I am amazed, the song sounded pro in almost no time. Just a couple of tweaks overall, many of them are fine just as they are.
And it's also a beauty to have proCh on every track, native, I mean with almost no plug-in.

Love the presets.

One problem.  If I load a preset and then add another module to PC, the inline scrolling stops working and I can't access all the modules without colapsing some.  This only seems to happen after loading a preset.

Please help.  It's really frustrating.

I noticed a few new presets have been uploaded (one of mine as well).

Is there a way to sort these so we can quickly see new ones are available? It looks like they are alphabetical now...

I was really hoping Cakewalk would develop a mechanism by which you could simply do an upgrade check to see if any new presets where available or if changes were made to existing presets.

While I love the presets - I did have to scan and count to see of I had all of them up to date. I also noticed a couple presets were unnamed which made me wonder if someone is testing the user submissions prior to posting. Still, very useful project and appreciated.
