OK Beep... how about just recording some of your favorite tones for us to hear. I'd be interested. Doesn't even have to be a "song". I've explored TH2 only a little and have not found all those presets yet. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Post'em!!

ProjectM Anderton TH2 definitely seems to have potential. I haven't spent much time with it, but I think that once I become familiar with it, I could get some really useful sounds. I like the way they handle the "miking," too. I'll still need the EQ trick, though, and don't forget about the "de-esser before amp" trick. Hey Mr. Anderton. De-Esser before amp, that made me curious. Care to elaborate a little? Or point me to a place where I can learn some more? I'm curious of how and why that would affect my sound and why I should do it. Even more important - when I play a guitar tuned to B or A wouldn't that kill the attack? Project M I was thinking the same thing........I am glad you asked this question because I would love to know the same thing...... Thanks for asking it... Clifford

synkrotron ProjectM Hmmm... I should spend Some time with it. hmmm... yeah, reading Beep's posts here I thinking the same. I suppose I could get used to the interface after all. What's the upgrade? $99 if I remember correctly...... Yeah, but the price probably doesn't last forever. I'm really comfortable with Guitar Rig and not sure if I should upgrade or just stick with what's inside the Sonar version. I need to research this. I really want the Mark Studio plug in from Overloud. Perhaps I should just get that and be happy with what I have. I am tired of IK's Ampeg plug, even though it's pretty good.

Last night I took some time and played with TH2. It was too late for me to plug in a guitar so I put it in a pre recorded track. I have to say that there is some real potential here. I didn't think that the GUI was bad at all, in fact I rather like the way you can move those mikes around. A great addition to X2. The guy who doesn't have many or any amp modelers will have something decent to work with.I could see myself using it even though I have a few.Sometimes simplicity rules over quantity and features.

This thread is inspiring! I haven't bothered to even try out the TH2 because I figured it's just another disappointment... yadda yadda yadda. I was able to get some very nice tones out of the Orange amp in GR4 after tweaking it to death and now y'all have inspired me to get out my guitar and take TH2 for a spin!!!!

When I first started messing with it I wanted to record all the presets and variations then some custom settings to post but I realized it would be a pretty lengthy adventure. Maybe after I finish the tune I'm working on. For now though maybe I'll just make a snippet using my current setting. Cheers.

And one thing I noticed is that for chunky presets it inserts the overdrive pedal AFTER the head. I didn't like that too much so I swapped the head and the pedal so the pedal was first in the chain. Much better.

Seems like it would make good fodder for my Sound on Sound column..."optimizing the living daylights out of the TH2." I await the column with baited breath I like the sound but am I the only one that finds the GUI a bit clunky???

Yeah, thanks for popping in, Craig. I'd love to see an Anderton column on this... and Wookiee, opinion seems sharply divided on the interface. Some like that it's laid out more like a real life signal chain but others, like myself, find it a bit awkward and too spread out.

Drive = 7 Bass = 8.5 Mid = 3 Treble = 9 Presence = 10 Volume = 5.5 Level = 0 VariFire = 9. TH2 Mixer Pro (I didn't touch this): Delay 1 = 0 Width 1 = 100 Pan 1 = 0 Level 1 = 0 Set to Stereo with balance all the way to 1. Channel 2 is not being used. Cabinet: 4x12 Modern (US), Mic A adn B are AustrianGold414 both set to 0.0in on all parameters. Mix: Mic A = 0.0 Mic B, Rear and 45 set to infinity. I don't think TH2 producer works as a standalone (I don't see it in my programs folder) but the full version is supposed to.

I agree with the OP. In the past couple of days that I've been using it I've been very surprised how easily TH2 gives up some great sounds with very little tweaking - getting good sounds a lot quicker than with other sims I've used.

Not sure what that has to do with anything but if you must know I've just recently gotten down to making music (working on a tune right now actually). For the past five months I've been putting myself through a self implemented crash course in how to make all this gack work. I also seem to have made some buddies here and I like chatting with them. I know I talk too much sometimes but the conversations I've had on these forums have been invaluable to me. I REGRET NOTHING! ;-)

Right on, jb. I actually enjoy playing with the "gack" but it can be a little daunting and frustrating as a beginner. IIRC you've helped me a couple of times yourself. Just a great place to learn stuff IMO. Sorry if I talk too much... if you knew me you'd understand why. I really don't have much else going on. Cheers.
