In pod farm 2 you can have two completely separate signal chains and mix them in stereo. Does TH2 have this same capability or do you need to have two instances running on two tracks? TIA ggg

Yup, it has all sorts of options like that and some fancy extra stuff you can do. You can have two heads and on each head have two channels on each head with different amps (so four heads actually) then send and blend to two different cabinets with the splitter and mixer. It's really crazy. Also when blending the channels on a single head it's not like traditional blending. It's some kind of weird fusing of the tones as opposed to just a volume blend. I'm not sure exactly what that means but it's in the manual and it does sound pretty cool.

One thing I'll give it a -1 for though is I don't think it's gonna be as good for bass as GR5s Ampeg model but I haven't tested it thoroughly... so at least I can still get my money's worth out of GR. The full version might have more bass options.

Damnit!!!! I had a couple hours thorough play with the TH2 Sonar version and.... I think I really like it!! The sounds sounded massive! Tried to compare it a little with GR4 (full version) and well... they are two completely different beasts. But I was surprised of how well the TH2 could treat the lower frequencies - they were extremely present and extermely tihgt! I started with Beepster's recipe for good sound a couple pages back and I had made a bunch of presets with variations a couple hours later. I found it really easy to get not only good, but great results. It actually sounded good when just pluging in my guitar and not do much to the plugin. So I want to spend $99 on the upgrade. If I will allow my self... Hmmm... I've spent a lot of cash on gear and other stuff lately but this one is hard to pass on. I also saw on the Overloud website that you can crossgrade from TH2 to Mark Studio II for $97, which is a bass amp sim I'm really keen on. I love the Mark amps. Combined they seem like a great bargain! So what to do? I used my Viper-50 tuned to B and an old heap of an Ephiphone tuned to standard E. Both sounded great. Even my Ukulele got some decent sounds when miced up through the TH2. GR4 have some pretty far fetched effects so I can't stop using it, but a combination of these two amp sims would be cool. I got to see the lady at the bank... BTW - the DeEsser trick was quite cool.

@bass: I've had markstudio bass for quite some time (need to install here) and it's unsurpassed. The low end is beyond comprehension (even if you HP the super low stuff) and has some nice flexibility. Don't know if it works with sonar yet though.......it's on tonights list of things to do.

Awesome. BTW guys those settings I listed were very very rudimentary. I essentially got a sound I liked and got sucked into recording a tune based on it (which I have been obsessing over since a little before I posted this thread). I'll be getting into more detailed tweaks once it hits the mixing stage. Then I'll save them as a preset. It's just a very addictive program and my amp is feeling lonely. lulz...

Yeesh, I'm working on it dude. I screwed up the timing on my "drum" track so getting everything tight has been a chore. Besides I'm taking my time on this one because I want to get it right production wise so I can move on to a different genre of music (I'm setting up templates for my albums). But that's beside the point, if you don't like TH2 you don't like it. We're not lying when we say we do. Sound is very subjective. I like the realism of it. Perhaps you enjoy more of a modern processed tone which GR provides. I like GR5 and I'll still use it for certain things but it was kind of a bear to work with and I spent more time tweaking than I did playing. Now not to get heavy here but I do not like being called a liar. In my opinion it is a very very nice program and I'm pleased as punch it was included with X2. That is fact. Cheers.

What I want to see, especially from Beepster, is what is so awesome about it. Just want to hear what people are doing with it on the off chance that I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue. Otherwise, I've made my opinion quite clear on the subject.

If you don't like the software don't use it. I like it so I'm using it. I'll post what I can when I can. I intended to anyway. You seem to have made up your mind already though so anything I post I'm sure will get poo pooed. I gave detailed instructions on how to get the tone I am using for this project so try it and make up your own mind. It was quickly dialed in and as I said will be refined later but to me it sounds better than anything I could get out of GR after endless tweaking. If you disagree, fine. If you end up liking it, great. I'm too tired and cranky to care today. Peace.

chrisharbin Oh, silly me, forgot there is an "impulse" cab loader. There goes fizzy bye-bye :D Now, I just gotta get some more IR's! There are a bunch of Ir's available on line. I downloaded a few to try. When I upgraded to Sonar X2 I bought the box set with the DVD's. Once I finished testing everything I reformatted my hard drive and installed windows 7. When it came time to setup Sonar x2 I used the box set. On the first install DVD there is an option to explore disk. I clicked on it and began to look around. I found a whole pile of IR's on the first install DVD. This is another reason I like to get the backup DVDs. Some are great for Perfect Space and Some are really good for TH2. What a great little hidden feature on that box set.

Leee And finally, I've read a lot of good things about Mr. Anderton, where might I find some of his tutorials and/or writings? He has two videos available at the cakewalk store. They give tips and tricks on X1 but the same tricks can be applied to X2 One of his video even has a guitar chapter. he shows a cool trick using a multiband compressor and guitar tones. I think the de-esser trick with the settings are in that chapter too. I purchased both videos and I highly recommend them. Currently there is a bundle offer for 34 bucks. Lots of good tips in there. I remember spending around 79 bucks on them. http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-X1AB1.00-20E

Just started mapping out my leads. Sorry but I had to fix my drum parts and tighten the rhythm guits and bass back up. Also had to take some time to do self maintenance (laundry ain't gonna do itself... no matter how much I yell at it) and work on another track for a different project. Blah blah excuses excuses I know. However I just wanted to say that the settings I had for my rhythm parts weren't working so well for leads. The gate was cutting out the sweet stuff and it was all kind of crackly and meh so I tweaked things a bit but still kept the general settings. Just playing through it kind of sucked but for some reason listening back to anything I recorded with the new settings was SICK. It'll need some extra tweaking during mixing but I'm still quite happy with how it's all working out rather effortlessly. Might take me a couple days to write and track the leads but it's turning into a very cool sounding tune. Just thought I'd let you guys know that I haven't forgotten or flaked out on it. Cheers.

I think there might have been two different offers regarding the videos and it depends on the time frame of your purchase. I got the videos shortly after they were released. It is good you got them beep, There is a lot of good info in there. The second one is my favorite.

This is in reply to chrisharbin (I couldn't get the reply quote working properly): I'm the developer of Recabinet. Sorry for any confusion here. In 2009, we entered into an agreement with Overloud to distribute our version 2.0 IR library demo along with their amp simulator at the time, TH1, with the option for these customers to get a discount on the full version of the library. I wasn't aware (until this week via the KVRAudio forums) that the old demo IRs are still included in TH2, as my contact at Overloud left the company some time ago, and a lot of the old TH1 Recabinet users have since upgraded to Recabinet 3, which marked the transition point away from Recabinet being literally a zip file full of IRs in WAV format to an actual audio plugin of its own.

After all the placebo blurp over this and buying it, I'd like to reiterate that TH2 PLUS Recabient is about as good as it gets. I have all the sims (lolz) but there are some things about TH2's heads that are really great (especially the T2, the Lynchbox, and the taxi drive) So, for those thinking about upgrading, it's pretty good, but the THD and T2 included in the "producer" are really good, other stuff can be hit/miss, and you REALLY REALLY should get recabinet regardless :D
