And just a reminder:

When you take the (much appreciated) time to create a SONAR Colo(u)r Scheme, please contact Rothchild so he can put it on his page.

It helps new users and those just getting into color schemes find them more easily.

The original theme was posted previously by Rothchild...
dark themes / Harolds greys with orange
http://sonartemplates.googlepages.com/graysworange.clr

However , I have no experience with creating an executable file so I've attached a rar with the TTSRes17.dll.
Also included are the theme, resource numbers, and new bitmaps.
This was edited in S8.3.1

Thanks to all for the positive comments.
Perhaps I will pursue this further.

Hi Brandon!

I love Buddy's faders like many else do!

Can we please get an overall update of the GUI of SONAR so it gets a fresh look of 2009 / 2010?
Like example Buddy's faders with the next update or release of SONAR 8 or SONAR 9?

Regards
Freddie

Clarification on this please: do I just swap out the new ttsres17.dll file for the old one?
And a question: how do I unpack a rar file on a pc?

Yes you can just swap but I'd backup the original first.
how do I unpack a rar file on a pc?

Okay:
Thanks for the reply. I ended up downloading the file on my Mac, unpacking it there, and moving it over to my pc daw. BTW, WinZip on the pc will NOT unpack the file; it said it was not a valid archive. This is Winzip 9.xx
Understood about backing up the ttsres17.dll file. What I don't understand is how to make use of the .bmp files. Where do they go? I used the Search function on my pc daw and the only instances of the files that was found was on the cd I sneaker-netted over from my Mac. This thread has gotten so convoluted that searching through it is very misleading. Step-by-step instructions would be nice.
Thanks for any help, as this is far beyond what I've been doing with Sonar all these years.

Hey Guys,

here are some custom rounded ('curved') faders I made for sonar 7 and 8

I've changed the meters colours slightly also (and changed the "red" close button on the large transport toolbar)

NB: there's a button when you open the patcher called "Read instructions" that will give more details on using it

Sonar 7
- Rounded Faders for Sonar 7 (32-bit)
- Rounded Faders for Sonar 7 (64-bit)

Sonar 8
- Rounded Faders for Sonar 8.3 (32-bit)
- Rounded Faders for Sonar 8.3 (64-bit)

and here's my "Goobase" Colour Set (as seen in the screengrab) if anyone wants to try it.

Enjoy!
- Buddy110

WinZip 11 worked for me. Also see the red highlighted part in the post quoted above.

PS. You've got to have the file in the Sonar directory before you run it.

Mike:
I'm not sure if you're responding to me or what, but thanks. Specifically what I was asking about was hbb's mods which include Buddy's rounded faders, a ttsres17.dll file, and a bunch of bitmaps. I know hbb said he didn't know how to write an installer file which is okay. What he didn't explain is what to do with the bitmaps in his rar file (or anything else for that matter). What I need is a step-by step process - do I do the Buddy's faders change first, when do I swap out the ttsres17.dll file, and what do I do with the bitmaps? There are some of us that while we may be wizards at using Sonar for it's intended purpose, we may not know all the ins and outs of changing the graphics, for which there are NO written instructions anywheres, except for some bits and pieces scattered about that are nigh on impossible to find without getting a headache. Perhaps a tutorial or something as a sticky here would be great.

You only need to replace the "ttsres17.dll".
Buddy's faders are included in the new dll.

The grays with orange theme is optional.
I only included the bitmaps for those who may wan't to mod this further.

Ahh, ok Jack. I was confused (happens quite often).
I thought you were asking about the faders only.
I also know nothing about graphics and the like. I agree that instructions would benefit most users. Maybe Rothchild would be kind enough to include "How To" instructions on his color scheme page.
Just a thought.

Amen to having instructions on either on Rothchild's site or the Sonar wiki page (if that still gets updated - last date shown is Feb. of this year - 2009) would be excellent.

Hey all,

I'm still knocking about but I've not been on here for a little while, (it kinda makes me feel sad because I have no studio right now as I'm about to move house), nevertheless, I'm still very happy to maintain the Sonartemplates site. I do still check my popworks@gmail.com account but no one has sent me anything for a while so that's why there's been no changes to the site for a little while.

I don't take themes from this thread that don't explicitly say 'Rothchild you can post this' so if you do post a scheme, and you're happy to have me host it for you, do please just say so; I don't mind doing a bit of legwork in terms of retrieving .clrs and screenshots.

Buddy (and the other fader creators), if you'd like me to create a page for fader themes and write up a little howto I will be very happy to do so. If so, just let me know, it may take a little while as I've not played with the faders myself so I'll have to acquaint myself with how they work in order to write a howto but again I've no problem with doing that.

Cheers

Agreed. Thanks for all the work you have, and continue to, put into this Rothchild.

It's not that it's hard to get the faders to work but it is a pain in the butt to look through 23 pages of posts to find the instructions for the different sets of faders. It would be much easier just to go to your page and recall how it's done.

You can have the one I posted here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.asp?m=1707884 if you'd like.

Mostly I'm hoping someone with a keener sense than I sees it and says "I've got an idea to make this a lot better!"

Marc ("Rothchild"), anything I post in this thread you can nab it for the sonar templates page. I shared it here for the sonar community, so having it on your page is totally fine by me.

you can use the link in my sig to find the right post, etc (there's a "how to" in the exe file itself, so you can use that too)

lol @ Freddie H...thanks for the shoutout! haha. I'm working on some "classic faders" (for those that prefer the default faders over the rounded/curved ones) and some other UI tweaks. squeezing it into my spare time, so I'll have updates asap.

Thanks hbb.

Your 'Consoled' theme is now available here: http://sonartemplates.googlepages.com/lighttemplates

I've also added a few words to the 'Save and Load' page with guidance about how to install Fader Cap themes, can someone please let me know if it's utterly senseless / wrong etc etc.

There'll be more going on over the next couple of days.

Many thanks to HBB for his new 'Studio Blue' theme:

Available here: http://sonartemplates.googlepages.com/darktemplates

Just to let you know, Sonartemplates will be moving to new domain and hosting soon (I'm outgrowing the rudimentary tools and storage that google provide) so that I have the space to host fader themes as well as colour schemes (such as the one that goes with HBB's theme above).

I'll keep y'all posted.
