Interesting read guys. I just got another email ferom Cake wanting me to upgrade to X1 and offering another 10% discount coupon. Out of curiousity I returned to the Cake site and saw upgrade prices starting at $89. Now I have bought, over the years, Sonar 3,5 and 6 producer & finally went down to Sonar 8 Studio followed by Sonar 8.5 studio, still hoping I could get back the reliability and functionality I had with 3 5 and 6 but with the more up to date features of 8. So by the time I had figured out that it would NOT cost me $89 but more like $169 and that the price in UK pounds was going to be the same as the number of dollars (about 50% more) I felt like I should check in here and see what issues still remained to be resolved with X1. My heart goes out to you, guys - so many unresolved problems a year on from when I was wrangling with 8.5.3 and still no apparent solution in sight. I think I will have to just forget all about Sonar and get on with making music, which is sad considering the time and money I had previously invested. Honestly and truly hope all this gets resolved RSN for those of you still struggling. Regards, Ivan

DonaldDuck I love how one of the things 'fixed' is the metronome. OF all the things that didn't work properly... haha Especially, the whole not recognized tempo changes. One of the core concepts in music is the rhythm!!! A lot of people dislike Sonar because of issues like this. That is ONE thing that should work without having to patch it. Don't they have Sonar beta testers anymore? Leave it to Sonar to have an out of time Metronome. By the way, the metronome in 8.5.3 seems to work fine for what it's worth! Well when beta testers are working on useless features like antigravity modules what can you expect. Especially when the beta tester in question has stated it doesn't work any way. No wonder SONAR is going down, down, down. The gravity of the situation can't be ignored. With all this serious stuff going on I'm here replying to Donald Duck.

Well, your response carries a lot of weight, but apparently the issue revolves around floating point math. What they did was just try to make it float more. BTW - in response to "the Donald" (and with all due respect, Mr. Trump, choosing Donald "Duck" as your user name isn't going to fool anyone) the metronome in its current incarnation follows tempo changes just fine, it's meter changes that sometimes screw it up...but I really wonder how many people do meter changes. I use Session Drummer as my metronome. Slate's drums are much more inspiring than TICK tock tock tock TICK tock tock tock TICK tock tock tock...

Still no fix for this? CWBRN-5319 Automation recording is broken Description: - Insert softsynth
- Arm track
- Arm automation write for plugin
- Hit record
- Play synth - tweak some knobs
Expected Results: As well as midi notes this should record at least one (depending on how many knobs tweaked) automation envelope. I generally set it to appear in the audio lane to keep it out of the way of the midi. Actual Results: No automation is being recorded If I then select "undo" and re-record the track automation is recorded (as evidenced by it playing back this time when I select "read") BUT the automation envelope is invisible and I can find no way to make it visible (yes show ghost data is selected) or to edit it further Every time I try and record automation the first time it isn't recorded at all - then when it is recorded it is invisible Provided Specs: Audio 1: - - Integrated /On-board Audio - - Audio 2: NI Kore Driver Mode: ASIO Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Reproducibility: Reproducible That is shocking - they have had this for months

They threw us a bone with the sticky on top. But my general thinking when a patch is late is that I'd rather have it late and ready than on time and halfbaked. But I am really getting curious about some of the improved features When I get restless about these things I usually either buy a new lamp for the studio or shuffle around those already there. distract yourself while waiting, I mean Exactly what I was thinking. Development time will be what it will be and I am sure that CW is working on it all day, every day. We will get it when we get it and I don't think pushing them will help. I am with PM... getting it right is MUCH better than getting it sooner. 246 will do until c is baked "well done". Julien

I strongly suggested they remove the anti-gravity module from X1c rather than release it, and based on the list given above, I guess they took my advice. I thought the anti-gravity mode lifted the monitors, did you check that or were you just watching the keyboard?? Julien

This Kills me. I just bought the upgrade to Z3TA +2. Nice little PLugin with tons of tools. So I run the included self run prog and test it out on my midi controller. It runs great, can't kill it, can't wipe out to polyphony, no rice crispies (aka snap crackle and pop) on fader or any nob adjustments. Seemingly, this is exactly what 64 bit plug ins should run like! :) I sure do hope that X1c fixes this. I built a new machine, hooked it up to a 32" 1080p monitor, and I got farts instead of pure sound out of X1b + 255. Replaces all midi cables, audio cables, updated all drivers, recalibrated everything, check! Still got rice crispies. >.< But I do love the plugin. Lets hope it will run the same in the updated version release.

Bristol_Jonesey When you say it's "invisible", are you selecting the automation envelopes via the Edit Filter? I mean there is no visible envelope to select - nothing, I can just see its action in terms of knobs moving Anyway Cakewalk support confirmed they could reproduce this bug but I can't see anything to say they have addressed it in the above info. I will be seriously annoyed if not as they have had months and all this time I have been unable to use the product I paid for since I rely heavily on automation.

To Clarify, the plugin performs better alone than the host you pull it into! So it's not your hardware, midi controller etc.. It's the DAW.

Not necessarily. Could be something about the DAW settings, could be something about the project it's being used in, could be all sorts of things. I think it would be worth digging into a bit and trying to work out what's wrong. Just waiting for a fix is probably futile; at the moment, all we've got to go on is "it's not working in X1 for me". Given that quite plainly z3ta 2 does work in X1, then without working out what's specifically different here, there's never going to be a fix, if indeed it even is a bug.

Yes, I agree. I would do some further diagnostics before concluding it's the DAW. You might try it in Cubase, Studio One or something like that and see if works. best regards, mike

A lot of software has this and it would make bad situation - like crashes - at least a little better.

Sonar allows you to save multiple versions and revert to any of those versions at will. I keep 10 versions but if you save often you will want more. It's in the preferences.

Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] MUSE Still no fix for this? CWBRN-5319 Automation recording is broken Description: - Insert softsynth
- Arm track
- Arm automation write for plugin
- Hit record
- Play synth - tweak some knobs
Expected Results: As well as midi notes this should record at least one (depending on how many knobs tweaked) automation envelope. I generally set it to appear in the audio lane to keep it out of the way of the midi. Actual Results: No automation is being recorded If I then select "undo" and re-record the track automation is recorded (as evidenced by it playing back this time when I select "read") BUT the automation envelope is invisible and I can find no way to make it visible (yes show ghost data is selected) or to edit it further Every time I try and record automation the first time it isn't recorded at all - then when it is recorded it is invisible Provided Specs: Audio 1: - - Integrated /On-board Audio - - Audio 2: NI Kore Driver Mode: ASIO Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Reproducibility: Reproducible That is shocking - they have had this for months This is fixed in X1c. SP Hi Seth I have installed the patch now - it is only partly fixed. It records automation (sort of) first time now but it is still invisible and although it plays back it can't be edited and doesn't even appear in the plugin automation list. This is ridiculous! Here is a capture - I have just recorded automation (automation write set in plugin) using Alchemy's morph grid so there should be 2 envelopes (for the X and Y param) but there is nothing visible. I have automation set to appear in the audio track and when I mouse over the audio track where it should be the cursor changes to an automation edit cursor but as you can see nothing is showing to edit and nothing in the plugin automation list to highlight either
