SONAR X1c - New Bus Features

This is one of those simple things that makes me think: How did I work without this before? This is such a handy feature - I love it! If I ALT-Click on a track, every Bus that has anything to do with that track becomes highlighted (or selected). Outputs and sends, wherever they go, are identified. This is awesome. Thanks Cakewalk!

Plus X1 now high lights the buss selected.

The C patch did add some very needed stuff.

I'm glad you like it Sylvan, and it does sound like a nice new feature, but they really need to get on the ball and fix what's there rather than waste resources on adding new features.

I agree, it's these types of features that make the product more engineering centric. I think this is a positive direction and I would like to see more of these advanced type capabilities similar to Protools to take the product into a more professional realm.

It really is a shame that X1 have been a pain for you. I know it doesn't help much for us to know it works great for me, or that it doesn't work for you. But I promise if I lived near, I would help you trouble shoot this all day. I have always been fortunate with cake's programs. They have all worked since V3 - I wish nothing but the best for you to get this fixed.

With that said, I do agree with John, a positive experience with X1 by a poster usually has one of these other direction posts...

Well said David, Bub seems like a nice guy but I've noticed that he won't allow someone to say they're having a good experience with X1 because he's really on the offensive. Of course he can respond to any post he wants to as long as he's respectful but the OP and subsequent responders without an agenda are the ones who suffer not Roland. I hope the fixes come, but wouldn't it be simpler to get new software if you're that displeased? Give us a break bro, we're not all unhappy with X1.

Guys, please, don't have a melt down here. It was just my opinion. If you don't like, just ignore it.

Why don't you all focus on the part of the statement where I said I was glad he liked it and it was a nice feature? Hmm?

Hi Bub, I'm not having a meltdown ..I'm actually quite calm and as I said, you seem like a nice guy, and I meant it ..but you DON'T want us to focus on anything else but the issues regarding the bugs you've reported and in all fairness to you have been confirmed with Cakewalk. You have every right to make your dissatisfaction known but I've been noticing your posts about these issues on many, many threads, and trust me brother I usually just read, not post, pro or con. I stand by your rights Bub to comment but it's hard not to notice that your agenda takes priority over anyone else positive post.
By the way, Love "Bub's Rap"!!

Because its annoying Bub. I feel for you, I do. But it takes the thread off topic and just makes me get a bit angry. I don't mean it to but it does when it happens all the time. Instead of discussing this neat feature we are all discussing your post. Is that fair to the forum or the OP?
Someone finds a feature they like and instead of talking about it we are talking about your post.

Its like coming to a party and ruining it and then saying please carry on. Its too late now.  The magic is gone.

And the things you say aren't annoying John? LOL! Come on man. :) Twisted ... it was my comments on the Christmas vid wasn't it? Let it go man.

You guys derailed this thread ... I didn't. Don't blame me for a single post in this thread. If you don't like what someone says ... just ignore it. It's really that simple. And honestly, I don't see a single thing wrong with what I said ... I agreed it was a nice feature, I said I was glad for Sylvan, and stated my opinion. Not really any more to say about it.

    Bub.

For arguments sake, there were over 120 bugs fixed in X1c (some old, some new) and over 25 UI fixes/enhancements. Sometimes when the guys are "already under the hood" they can go in a do things that some might call "features" (it's a fine line between a feature and a fix).

So I don't think it's fair at all to say Cakewalk was "wasting resources on adding new features" rather than being "on the ball" and fixing the current program, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway let's talk about this selection function- nice huh? Should be useful to identify what's going on in a complex mix with complex routings.

    Yes it is nice.

I was wondering what the purpose of the letters are in the upper right left corner of the bus?

Yes, I think it will be incredibly useful and a big time saver when you need to find out where the reverb on the guitar is coming from.

I think its the neatest thing since sliced bread.

But I am very happy to see the Buss selection hi-light. That is something I have wanted for ages now. Thanks for including it.

It is especially nice for a CS BTW.  I spoke too soon. It doesn't work with my Mackie Control at all. No selection of the buses with it. The controls work but I can't tell on the screen what buss I am working with via the CS.

The first feature seems almost 21st century.

The highlight feature really helps me keep track of what bus I selected and that  saves me a lot of time when if I'm activating the polarity switch in the inspector.

That is an awesome feature! Do buses and their envelopes behave more like regular tracks when cutting & pasting? Like selecting all (CTRL-A) and then dragging on the timeline, do they also get selected?

Apparently I can't get the Alt+click to do anything.

It doesn't hi-light a thing except the track but no buses. Does this only work in new projects?

My wife hated it. HEHE! That was last winter. It's a necessity in the winter out here, 'specially out in the country when you have to fend for yourself in the great outdoors.

Nobody answered me on what the letter was for in the upper left hand corner of the buses? Anyone know?

You know it's funny, I was going to ask what all this stuff with the busses meant. I was reading about it and it just didn't make sense to me. I was ready to post something...and you guys cleared it up for me, thanks! This is a really killer option.

Hey Brandon...if you're still watching this thread....I'm just curious, do you think it will ever be possible to freeze a bus? That sure would be pretty cool. What types of issues would there be to try and implement something like that?

That's the great misconception about NJ. The people who are born and raised there are actually very friendly. Friendlier than the folks I've met here in the heartland to be honest.

We get a bad rap in NJ from all the transplants from North/North East of our state.

Just sitting here thinking ... I can't believe this thread has been so derailed all because of the hatred for me.

    You guys ****ing rock!

No hatred from me towards you man. :) I was just saying...you're rather mild compared to my lunatic @ss. :) I blame that on my Philly upbringing though...so it's not entirely NJ's fault. LOL! Then again, I've gotten into more confrontations since I moved here than all the ones combined in Philly. So maybe I CAN blame Jersey. Hahaha!
