Screen recording (software ) and how to ?

IMHO this is as good as it gets for free. CamStudio

Ok so do anyone have a good suggestion for a simple all in one, free or pay'd software
that really works without making HUGE files and have a strange fps !

Thanks for chiming in, i miss-used the term " all in one " my fault...

I was thinking more like a " clean simple " Screen Recorder
all i want is a great sharp recording with a good frame rate 30 fps
and "all commonly " used video formats and with the most common used  audio formats.

So far, Aktive presenter has given me ok Quality at a very low filesize
the video above is  4.2 mins and about 61.5mb in size ( .avi ), guess it is hard to beat that one.

It seems a bit jumpy at the frame rate, but i don't know if it will affect the sound.

Now i just need to figure out how i gonna manage the sound.

How do you guys manage to record the sound... ? Hardwiring the Audio interface
or is there a software rewiring program that can do it.

Sound is usually recorded at the same time automatically, using Active Presenter (or other screen capture).

Well it works with not to bad quality, small file size... that is awesome and it records windows audio
but not the DAW audio, the fps seems a bit jumpy, is the software a bit cpu hungry ? 

Well usually programs record audio in " windows only "  mode !

Option 1 *
There's windows sound, and there's DAW sound, they use separate routing ( road / trail ..whatever )
Some Audio Interfaces have re routing software with it.
With that you are able to re route ASIO to MME / WDM sound enabling you to record
with software for windows recording, like Screen recorders or other windows recording software.

Like the ESI Maya 44e, with  DirectWire , i had that card once, but sold it along with another computer.

the DirectWire function is something i would wish for in Cakewalk Sonar, if they should add a feature.


Option 2 *
If not........then  you need to Hard wire your Audio Interface maybe like this :

Audio interface phones out, into L and R jack's in to the L and R input of the Audio Interface
bad thing is.... you use your inputs, and it limit the possibility to record Vocal at one of the input
if you only have 2 inputs.

You could use a small Mixer and send the audio from Audio Interface ( phones out )
to Ch 1 and ch 2  ( left and right ) into the mixer ,with a  stereo to 2 mono... ( splitter )
then add a Microphone ch 3.... then blend those together with the mixer and use the mixer L and R main out
into Left and Right of the Audio Interface.

Option 3 *  

The Audio interface Phones out,  into the line in of the onboard soundcard ( we can use that for windows sound ) !
then we save the 2 inputs on the Audio Interface... how the latency will be, i don't know.

But maybe there's a Software re route software somewhere.......
or maybe Cakewalk can add something in the DAW ( Sonar ) that send / route audio into windows 

I tried to " share " Asio driver, from within Sonar but it did not help ....
guess it's " driver share " only, and not " sound sharing " ( audio that run through )

It is like having a car and 2 drivers, both may be allowed to use the car.......... ( Share driver )
but it wont benefit if both should try drive the car at the same time, in different way
they would probably wreck the car, and hurt them self. ( " causing " dropout )

It may look something like this ( game over ) LOL , mhhh " with some respect ".

I am no expert, but me thinks it works like dat.., if i am wrong plz help me out here....

Did a short Screen Recording with bandicam excellent image and file size
i did hear the sound, but it was not recorded with the Screen Recorder in windows.

uhh, while you do that can you show, your control panel , sound and so forth
are you using different audio drivers... ?

Closing in........, i need to use wasapi to be able to record from windows
if i use Ci1 line there's no sound... i guess, i need to double check that one.

Video detail, size and framerate, is excellent on Bandicam

maybe the solution is to hard wire out from my Audio interface ( phones ) with a splitter
then to my inputs (L1 and R2 ) , i know i will get sound then... but i will lose my inputs

so i do not wanna do that, maybe i will get some latency as well.

Any solution, to do it da software way

Can anyone else try Bandicam, and pop up a short video demo on youtube
and see what is working and not .. ?

Did check it is only when i select win 8.1 sound (wasapi ) in Bandicam audio setting
i will have windows sound, if i select my steinberg line Ci1 i will have no sound.

CamStudio is indeed great software.  PLEASE NOTE that the installer you download from the above link for CamStudio actually is a bundled install, meaning it contains installation scripts for additional programs, and I URGE you to be very very careful about what you are accepting when you run the install program.
 
I found that there were multiple additional programs carefully included to appear that they were part of the CamStudio install, but were instead agreements that if I would have accepted would have installed several undesirable programs - browsers, ad ware, and that sort of thing.
 
I DID complete the install process, BUT I clicked Decline for the user agreements for these other programs.  PLEASE be careful when running the installer _ you will see what I mean if you look carefully.

I already did know of that one...  yepp those who download CamStudio need to be aware of it.

While i prefer Bandicam so far ...

Maybe Odeus ASIO Link, can be a solution this is what i mean

FYI there's one thing i have noticed when viewing youtube is :

Browsers uses 10 seconds to reach full clarity / detail on the video. 
Internet explorer may sometime beat Chrome with 5 sec.

I don't know why.....

Probably due to default low resolution video loading before the system detects higher speed internet and change to HD mode. You can also select HD before playing the video.
