RODAB: I notice you and Audiyo seem to be having similar issues - but neither of you mention exactly what they are or what type of systems you're running. I'm having issues too but it's been discussed elsewhere and here -- so I'm curious to know what your issues are in case there are similarities either in our usage approach or our systems. MAYBE we can discover something of use to ourselves, others, and CW. So any details you and audiyo can provide I think might be helpful in this regard. Thanks.
Hey Billy
Here are my basic specs: Hardware: Asus P6T Mobo, Intel Core I7 920@2.67ghz (stock speed), 6GB DDR3 Ram (Matching sticks - Corsair, tested), PNY Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 (768MB GDDR3), 500GB WD SATA HD (OS/System), 320GB WD SATA HD (Audio Projects), Belkin USB Wireless network adapter
OS: Win 7 64 bit (SP1, all the latest critical updates)
Sonar version: X1 Producer x64 (X1C -
No mods)
Things to note: - Roland Quad Capture is on a dedicated PCI USB 2.0 card (No other devices attached)
- Speedstep is disabled in the bios (So no throttling)
- Power management is disabled entirely
- DPC Latency checker (1.3.0) tested.. All in the green, Current latency avg = ~135
- Quad capture disabled for Windows sound
- USB network adapter unplugged when I load up Sonar
- Avast virus scanner disabled when I load up Sonar
-
No bit-bridging at all.. 100% 64 bit plugins
- Latest Nvidia reference drivers installed
Major issue: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2359303 http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2367266 Note: This is not just with DP.. I've had this happen with Z3ta 1.5, Pentagon 1, etc etc..
I have submitted a report for this issue.
For completeness, Here are some
MINOR issues I have experienced:
- Disappearing control bar
- Browser/Plugin layout persist issues (not fixed in X1C and verified/reproduced via my bug report)
- The newly introduced Bus/Track selection glitch
- 'p' key does not open preferences unless a project is open
- The view menu check mark for inspector is always checked regardless of whether the inspector is open
- Automation drawing bugs
- Pro channel knob response issues
- Dragging an audio file or clip into the matrix view will "sometimes" not place the clip on the cell you hover over, but on the one below it..
- Glitchy graphics with the VX64 plugin
- Graphic glitches when enabling and disabling mixer strip modules in console view
Please nobody give me flak over bringing these small issues up. I know most if not all of these issues will either have no real impact on making music, or are easy to work around. I am well aware of that and none of these things are the reason I am not going to be making music with Sonar (for now). These are mostly just things that distract and lower my confidence level..
Also, I do realize that some of these issues are potentially issues with my system and Sonar.. As Billy mentioned, it seems like Sonar can be picky with what hardware/software configuration you're running.. Maybe Sonar doesn't like my motherboard.. Maybe some of these issues are from drivers or shared libraries.. etc etc.. I don't know.
The bottom line is at this point, If I can find a solution for my major issue, I'll be happy to look the other way with all the minor issues I have come across. I want to use this software. I will do whatever I can to troubleshoot my system to get to that point. I will (and have) submitted bug reports. If anyone has any tips, I will gladly try them out.
Anyway, I hope I can get things sorted out. If anyone has any constructive advice, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Edit: I'm starting to think my video card "might" have something to do with it.. I wish I had another laying around to swap out..
