Thanks for the tip to run a driver checker updater, But like one of the other replies stated....I go to the manufactures web sites...when browers allow it...and get my drivers directly from them...
To show this is what I do...I downloaded the A&L drivers...even though I got them on DVD...Just to be shure all is well in play ville...or not.

So that worked out well...because the driver was not installed as of yet, and there is nothing wrong with the firewire 800 and Nic...to show as a resulting state.
Only after putting that driver in, did things go south....as the manufacture said happens.

So this is now established as truth...and You and other consume it as the truth..and now we can move Sideways with that understud and mindful of it....meading more mead made in forward progressions!...wink

I am running a long test as I write on the music system...recording at 48khz 1024 buffer...been about 1 hour now....I should go check it out.
and start the next higher state...suppose to go as high a 9600khz...buffer ???been maxed in past...but maybe things are different now.?

This has happened...Because I know I set this up before Microsoft remote was done..as I do with all my systems.
I turn off sleep mode, and such, I put power management settings to always on...and any kind of video monitor suspend off or to never..on both power management choices Basic, and performance.

So my hard drives do not go to sleep.

Well I guess the remoters last night turned them back on with out me aware....So I only got 30min of recording, and it went to sleep...Nice!

This is what happens when you do not tweak the OS...and leave things to their own defaults..in some regards!

SO be mindful....Just saying mead will be served at 5pm est.

Re: Sonar x3c Crashing with x2a Projects and odd behavior. 2013/11/30 17:50:49 (permalink)
ok the 48khz 1024 30 min test has no clicks or pops or anomalies on the tracks recorded that I can hear or see..even when zoomed.

I have done a 9600khz 2048 buffer which sets as default...when selecting the 9600khz selection was not so promising...a state.
Seems there is cpu spikes still going on here, at my preferred settings.

This is another reason I have asked for help...
I do not see any problems with pops or clicks yet, nor have any been recorded that I can see in the wave view of each track even when zoomed....But as this is recording of nothing...what does a drop out sound like with nothing?...nothing.

So this is a problem...and in that I have to turn up the buffers to compensate...or...tweak the problem so it stops doing it....it is sure as rain a background app or service.

that is what has brought things to my logical progression in mead being made....and asking for help for months here with the build and or setup , and or behavioral problems in the past...till now...in this new state of fresh.

So I can say no pops or clicks or booms have happened yet...but this is still young with this state as it is reinstalled properly...and win 7 is fresh, with no other bad plugins...

So we have to say...the cpu spikes from past experiences did cause the drop outs on playback, then if they persist now on the new lean state , the same is occurring now?

Sip.

Does opening a old project bring in bad settings?...cause I can open one and play it back, if they open at all is still a unknown...Problem is, I had to max out the buffers in them old recordings to get clean recordings and proper playback...with tweaks in toe...before the reinstall of win 7 and such.

Re: Sonar x3c Crashing with x2a Projects and odd behavior. 2013/11/30 19:32:06 (permalink)
I run my audio interface and Sonar settings at 48 k Sample Rate, 24-bit record bit-depth, ASIO Buffer Size of 128, and a driver mode of ASIO.

My reported latency values in Sonar are:

Input: 4.7 ms, 224 samples
Output: same
Total Roundtrip: 9.3 MS 448 samples

The above give me pop/crackle/dropout free processing with no noticeable latency.  My system could go to 96 k sample rate, but not worth it to me - rather have hassle-free operation, and 48 k is plenty good.

Do as you choose,

I do not know what Sonar does with opening projects where the sample rate is higher in the project being opened than currently set in Sonar and the interface.

Also, if you have 32-bit plugins in older projects, sometimes one or more of certain 32-bit plugs have interfered with 64-bit Sonar operation.

I do not believe I have ever used a third party 32 bit plug in sonar anything on this system....But I have used one third party new Plug in called Sasquatch...again this has been mentioned in other posts of mine....and that is 64bit...the thing I am worried about is bringing bad code into the new build..or any corrupted data...that may cause this installation to go south.
dimension pro was corrupted...would not uninstall...so I over wrote it, and it installed asking if I want to overwrite...I selected yes to all...and now it is working.

AlexS...what do you need from event viewer?...as there are several levels to pick and choose from...or do you want all or the most recent?

Will do the most recent, as most of the other stuff has been addressed and posted already...

So stand by:...here it comes.
And thanks for being patient with me....

"This event is reported after detection of memory corruption by firmware after a power transition or sleep event."

The above was cut from a Microsoft page for that error message.

I had asked about your fans in an earlier post.  This can occur due to a heat issue, as well as other issues.  Again, how many fans are you running, and are they all actually working?

Are fans running at max speed, or variable?

Reboot your computer after it has been on for a while, and look at reported temperatures and voltages in the BIOS, and post those temps and voltages here.

If your system has on-board graphics, it might also be worth just running a test to see if these errors come up when you use your on-board graphics instead of an added card.  (for the test you would also want to remove the card, then put the card back in after completing the test.  The video software would not need to be installed again after testing).

Are your CPU cores set to run at maximum (100%)?  If not, they should be.  This can be set in Advanced Power Options.

Well Let me count em...there are a lot.. 2x 120mms infront, one 120 on top, and one big one on the side, and then the cpu fan is working well, and then there is the power suppy one which is also working well...So if I count right that is 6 all together...for a very very chilled interior....is that a problem?...just goosing you Bob...wink.

If you now have sleep turned off, let things run for a bit and see if these errors continue to occur.

Yes I re tweak that mess (sorry AlexS) and saved both basic and performance...one thing I do not touch is pci link state which has a power savings mode set to off in basic, but in performance it is set to maximum...should I tweak that?

The settings are in Advanced, expand the Processor Power Management settings, and you will see:

Minimum processor state - set this to 100%
Maximum processor state - make sure this is also at 100%

The above will keep your CPU running at maximum speed.

Try: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings, then Change Advanced Power Settings, then Processor Power Management, then Minimum Processor State and Maximum Processor State.

I am also set to High-Performance power plan to start with.

Re: Sonar x3c Crashing with x2a Projects and odd behavior. 2013/11/30 21:55:40 (permalink)
The remote session has ended.
The tech did not want to even go into any event viewer issues...He did however clean up the installed trash and left overs, he confirmed there were no files cut and spewed onto my c drive,, with the bad download...as it did not finish the download...it did not download the files to my drive he said, and showed me all the download events just passed done.
And he did do some tweaks to stop auto updates, which I explained were possibly causing issues with cpu spikes....
He did some msconfig checks...to see what is running auto updates also, and told me I can turn these off...only after hiding the win 7 services ...and start up was the same...he said if you do not need these things running at boot up...stop them by unchecking the boxes.
But do not turn off services in the service pane under computer management left click computer= manage/services anymore...or ever with out knowing what they do...and what services are connected to them....

I told him if I have to, due to seeing error codes of critical natures, I will consult Microsoft tech support again, so as to make sure it is done right...under the same ticket within 30 days.

That is all, the case is closed...and he said the system is fine.

So...onwards and sideways we go....Sorry for that AlexS...but it is done right by Microsoft...so no worries...it can be turned on when need be....he showed me how to....but I already know how to....

So this continues in test mode and Christmas rush...and what a rush it is.....So more testing now ...to see if it is indeed the auto updates causing my cpu spikes and dropouts.

Stay tuned in to this bat channel.
could be a bit long..of a wait till I am back....so I will give you a few to respond...and then I am back at it...have to turn the nic off and the audio back on...to test.
Les

In this, they also tell you to always set min/max to 100% if plugged in, which will be the deal for a desktop.

but it is done right by Microsoft

Well I have worked on Microsoft call desks in the past. But what would I know ;) Boy I could tell you some stories.

The tech did not want to even go into any event viewer issues...

Exactly, if you can't see there errors there are no errors so you don't need to fix 'em, stage exit right onto next customer ;).
As a support tech you attempt to solve one issue at a time and get out quick, and give answers to the customer, anything they like so they can move onto the next issue. The job of tech support is not to train users (that takes all day and if they are opinionated that takes all month).

BTW the guy is probably a contractor and not necessarily a Microsoft employee, not that it makes any difference whatsoever.

Re: Sonar x3c Crashing with x2a Projects and odd behavior. 2013/11/30 22:36:08 (permalink)
Well Thanks AlexS...You Just made my day....But seriously...seeing the data yourselves, and posted info...I have not had any real solution here for the spiking issue, ...turning off double engine is not the right answer, nor,was deleting the aud,ini...in our last session on the old build of win 7....which brought us to more problems, and the resolve was to reinstall win 7...That was my call to do...and I am not a Microsoft techie....but it was the right choice to make.

So who is what, and what is when, and how is nigh....the thing is, we are making progress to something behind the software causing spikes, drop outs, and possibly some bad plugins  installations ,and corrupted OS issues now resolved...Let us stay positive AlexS....I know you do not like what I have made him do in turning off auto updates...but it is done right, and we move on testing....and reading the event logs till we find the culprit.....and that is sideways progressions from backwards thinking...and it works because it is outside the box thinking....cause I tried it the other way, and it does not work out.

That is just the way it is with this system and devices I have....it is not capable to do internet and audio...period....nothing can be done about it...I tried wireless usb, and it did not work either....So that is it....and when this trouble shooting is over...the internet gets cut off for a long time....updated drivers I can port over like I was doing...once everything gels.

baby steps...Cheers!

Re: Sonar x3c Crashing with x2a Projects and odd behavior. 2013/11/30 22:41:49 (permalink)
Bob I have looked in the advanced power management twice...there is no batteries on this system running a cpu....so that link is misleading...and thus it is for laptops.

And I do not have battery backup system to counter power shortages....so I have no idea how to get to that shown process you posted.
I even tried the setup unshown settings...but nothing changed much...and no it was not in that either.

So I cannot keep going round ni circles...as far as I know in bios all cores have been activated with all threads.

If you are running X3C (I hope you are) this needs to be turned off regardless, until X3D.
