I'm pretty sure even the "fairer members" of this forum (whoever that might be) would take greivous offense at being refered to as such.  And besides couldn't one be justly offended by a simple misreading of that phrase??  I know I was.  And I, myownself,  have one!!!

I know of a girl who would be totally offended by being referred to as the "fairer sex." And I'm not just saying that for effect. Accusing others of causing offense is a dangerous business indeed. So easy to slip up and put ones foot in ones mouth without even trying.

I'm offended I'm not on there. Or at least I can't see a troll there.

Strange I seem to recall being labelled that down here by someone who's now proclaiming to be whiter than white......

Anyway, you are fun, just not in the way you think you are and not in anyway that I could have any bearing on.

Back in the day if someone offended the fairer members of your party you could take the offender aside and horse whip him and then have a little conversation that assured everyone that that would the very last thing said about that.

You're right...here ya go.  Still looks like a fair quote to me.  Or would that be "fairer quote"???

I was speaking to sharke.

I remember what I wrote :-)

I remember what you wrote :-)

When did the word "members" become "sex"???
I didn't make a gender connotation.

Who did?

It's not the word "sex" that some women find offensive, it's the word "fairer." For whatever reason, they find it patronizing. Although ours isn't to question, right? It's to simply not use the word without any consideration of whether or not it's reasonable to be offended by it. Which is apparently the lesson I'm being schooled on here.

Oh and I think most people are going to read "fairer members" as a reference to women.

Well I did agree with the sentiment posited by sharke and said so.

But I also know my intention when I made my initial statement and choose my word carefully.

I have no idea what you were thinking.

You can speak for yourself right?

Here in the south many women enjoy being "fairer".

ergo the fairer "members" of society do actually exist... and not to surprise you or anything... but some of the fairer "members" are also... gasp; guys.

So I have accepted your insights and noted the worthiness of your suggestion but I'm not interested in your brow beating.

You came out the gate this morning posting a thread with a salacious title and you've spent the day making a scene of it.

I'm in awe. You win.

I made a scene about it? ME? I think we have a new definition of the word "chutzpah," and it comes with a thumbnail of mike-mccue.

So defending your position in a thread that exists for no other reason but to call you out is chutzpah?

Give me more of that.

Thanks my brother.

No mike, accusing me of making a scene out of this when you were the one who chose to make a scene out of it in the first place, is chutzpah. It's off the freaking scale.

Beagle, my humblest apologies! I TOTALLY had you mixed up with someone else. You didn't use the word at all. Of course I should have double checked first....oops, egg on my face (and by a remarkable coincidence, I am indeed currently eating an egg sandwich)...

LOL!  no worries!
