Garrigus,
I was at Guitar Center in Arvada CO on Sat and saw they had a copy. I was a little surprised. Thumbed through it at the store and ordered via Amazon Prime. Got it on Wed.
Congrats on an excellent job.
Michael

Hey Michael... yeah, Cengage is a very large publisher, so they have distribution not only online, but to bookstores, music stores, etc. You can usually find at least one copy of the book in a variety of stores.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy the book!
Scott

PS. After you've had a chance to read it, (and only if you have time), can you post a review up on Amazon?

Sorry, no pics of me allowed on the internet. :) My studio is a mess right now. I don't want that on the internet.

I was able to read a few pages last night, and was going to get into it today, but I had to take my mom to the hospital for high heart rate...nothing too serious, but it took up my whole day....

I like how you start off the book with a basic guide to the program, I even learned a few things the first few pages....It looks like a very comprehensive guide to the program, with lots of detailed tips and tricks thru-out. I'm sure I'll get lots of use from it. Having a custom written book exclusively about my DAW software is priceless, thank you very much for writing this book !!

Hey Wayne,

No problem at all. I definitely understand about privacy on the Internet. I don't post any personal info on any sites for that reason. I'm glad to hear your Mom is okay!

Is this your first Power! book? Just curious...

Thanks!

I've got Sound Forge Power, Sonar 4 Power, Sonar 6 Power, X1 Sonar Power, and now X3 Sonar Power in my collection.

I've also got Making Music With Sonar by Craig Anderton.

I also have a collection of about 60 cookbooks from all over the world.

I collect these books mainly for reference to look up stuff as needed.

Well thank you for the support...having these books makes working with Sonar a snap...I can usually find answers very quickly to situations I run across. Reading the books gives me a very good understanding how the program works and unveils many mysteries that otherwise go unnoticed. Spending the time to read the book always pays off in using the program to it's fullest, without hassles. To the uneducated, Sonar can be a very complex program. Having this easy to read and understand support tool custom made for my DAW is great.

Fine with me. Seriously, if every Sonar user read your books, there would be very few complaints about the program, and most people would find it much easier to use. A better understanding of the program is always a good thing, I'm all for education, and reading the Power Books is like getting lessons on how to use the program...I'm mean people pay oodles of money for guitar, piano, or vocal lessons, what's a few bucks for a college level book about your chosen X3 software ?? Learning the software is time well spent, and will pay off later.

Anyone planning to buy this book in the UK might be interested that it is currently being listed for at least £7 less than Amazon (including postage) from Wordery.com and Bookdepository.com (I am not allowed to post the direct links, yet.)

The Bookdepository option may also be of interest to purchasers in other countries (outside the US) because it offers free delivery to anywhere in the world.

Morning all,

I may have missed the initial wave of excited posts with this but I just wanted to add my 2 cents...
Amazon shipped my Power X3 book yesterday to me in the UK and I was impressed on a couple of levels before I even started -

My last purchase of Scott's was Cakewalk Power way back when (yes, I know I don't look old enough) which I found helpful but not mindblowing. In those days, Cakewalk would ship a pretty extensive user manual with their product so I had 2 pretty good resources to work with.

My new X3 purchase, of course, shipped with a flimsy start-up guide and access to a pdf of what is, I believe, the largest user guide in the known universe. The list of contents alone when laid end to end bridges 2 world time zones. Sadly, I'm a book-person who likes to hold what he's reading and, because I don't believe that enough paper exists in the western world to print a pdf of such sheer girth, I ordered Scott's book.

It's HUGE - big pages with modestly small writing (nice quality paper, a neat typeface and that embarrassingly addictive smell of a new book). Scott has put a LOT of work into this. It usually takes a lot to impress an old cynic like me but Power X3 knocked me sideways with content and presentation.

I started reading it in bed last night and had to stop on about page 5 as there were already some tips about organising plug-ins that I just have to try tonight in front of my PC. God only knows what other new stuff I'm going to find on the next 400 pages.

Great work Mr G!

Scott,  bravo on Sonar X3 Power.  The amount of information that you have put into the book and still losing pages on the page count is very impressive.  I have both X1 and X2 Power books on my shelf, and will gladly make room for X3 Power.  As good as the earlier books are, X3 reads better IMHO.  I have not figured out why yet, but will spend the time as to how and why.

Plus, covering all the updates thru X3e is a bonus to all that buy the book.  Great job.  You should be proud.

And away we go!

Hi Alex... Kindle version doesn't come out at the same time as the print edition. You'll notice that Kindle isn't available in the USA yet either. I think it requires a bit of formatting work that differs from print, so the publisher should be working on that now.

Thanks!

Frink
I started reading it in bed last night and had to stop on about page 5 as there were already some tips about organising plug-ins that I just have to try tonight in front of my PC. God only knows what other new stuff I'm going to find on the next 400 pages. Great work Mr G! Frink.

Hi Frink,

Thanks very much! It's always great to hear when people are enjoying the work that I do and I like to surprise people as well. I'm glad to hear you were pleasantly surprised with this edition.

If you have time, could you post a review up on Amazon?

Scott,  bravo on Sonar X3 Power.  The amount of information that you have put into the book and still losing pages on the page count is very impressive.  I have both X1 and X2 Power books on my shelf, and will gladly make room for X3 Power.  As good as the earlier books are, X3 reads better IMHO.  I have not figured out why yet, but will spend the time as to how and why. Plus, covering all the updates thru X3e is a bonus to all that buy the book.  Great job.  You should be proud.

Thanks very much, Clint! The publisher adjusted the layout and size so that they wouldn't have to print as many pages. But that didn't reduce the amount of info included... I made sure of that. The only thing I took out were old features no longer included in SONAR.

Not sure why this one reads easier... maybe I'm getting better with age.

If you have time, can you post a review up on Amazon?

Hi Alex... yep, I know. I keep hounding them about that. They're still negotiating with Amazon, but it looks like it might actually be Amazon's fault. They seem to be becoming difficult with publishers as shown in this article. This is about a different publisher, but still...

In the meantime, the ebook is available in a different format outside the US from ebooks.com.

Thanks!
