Patchmix remembers its "current" settings, and returns to them when you shut down. Sometimes you can get your current session "corrupted", and it gets remembered that way, so the problem persists even if you reboot. Assuming you saved your session settings once you got it setup, you should be able to just reload your session to fix things.

There's also a "Restore Defaults" option if you right-click on the Patchmix shortcut in the task bar.

I did save my settings, and nothing seems to be different. I'll try the default settings.

Resetting PM to the defaults and rebooting got the sound back.. here is what PM looks like now:

I wonder what happened and if this is going to happen all the time. Could this have anything to do with switching to Sonar Home Studio XL from Home Studio 04?

Hello, i'm new here, i bought a new EMU 0404 soundcard and had a few problems, now reading these posts helped me to understand a bit
I noticed a difference on your 2 screenshots tdellaringa: on the first (where was no sound) in the right upper edge "OUTPUT ASSIGNMENT" both were connected to MON, maybe it was it ?

Now i got a problem, maybe you guy's can halp me too. i did everything like you said, but i still can't record ... in audacity (a free program) i can't choose from wich ASIO to record, maybe it's because of it. but then I tried Cakewalk Sonar LE that i got with the card, and if i take a look at Options/Audio, then Drivers, I see only these:
But when I recod, it records nothing, no sound, but in the PM, the PeakMeter shows me that sometnhing's going on ...
My "Output Assignment" is like the one in picture of post #123

I triedWith WaveLab lite, another prog I got with it, and it *seems* to work seems cauz I can't record so late at night annymore, the others sleep edit: yes it works but ... ly recorded voice is very VERY not loud (don't know the word :p), I just can liste to it when I put my boxes on full power

ok I add you a fw screenshots wich, I hope, may help.

This is my sonar, I think it *should* be correct or not ? "Gauche" means left, my mic is put in the left IN of the soundcard.

And here is another strange thing, I don't know if it's normal but it's strange to me ... with my old card, I had a lot of entries there, now only 3 in playback and none in Record !

Thus, when I'm in windows sound settings (from the control panel) and i click on Volume, an error message appears ... On the "Advanced" button, everything works as expected ... hmmm

I hope I gave you enough informations so that you can help me
and appologise for my bad english and maybe dumb problem

Do you have the latest (1.82) drivers? When you look at the "About Patchmix", you should see Patchmix DSP Version 1.81.00, and Driver Version 5.12.01.1104.

I had this problem frequently with the old drivers, but not since the v1.80 patch, I think. The current patch is v1.82.

It's generally considered bad form to co-opt someone else's thread. It makes replies really confusing, because replies to two different people get all mixed together. You may be having problems with the same thing, but chances are good that your issues are different, and the solutions are different.

For example, it sounds like your issue is that you have Home Studio in WDM (or maybe MME) mode. To use Patchmix with Home Studio, it is best to use ASIO mode. If you use WDM mode, then you are restricted to only the options you mention, and most of this thread does not apply to you. I highly recommend you use ASIO mode for Emu soundcards.

And the Windows Control Panel is basically not used for Emu soundcards. Some of the settings in there do some things for some programs, but when using your soundcard with Home Studio in ASIO mode, your settings in that panel have no effect. Go to Patchmix to control your sounds.
