Sorry Dave, didn't mean to be confusing. I know that Superior can see the EZXs. But if you want to use the kit that comes as the default (Pop/Rock) in EZDrummer would you not have to have it on your hard drive? I don't know of a way to remove EZD and still leave the "Pop/Rock" kit samples. And even if, as you say, the Pop/Rock is a subset of the Avatar kit it is still another discreet kit you can choose in Superior, no? So why, delete it from your hard drive? Is there a way to delete the program and retain the samples?

Could some one answer my question please. Thank you ORIGINAL: Al Nico I have a quick question.... I have EZD and the Nashville EXP and am wondering if Superior 2.0 has a large Groove library or is it mainly just improved sounds that you need to provide loops for??? How many loops does it come with compared to EZD or the Nashville??? Thanks for your time, AL

It comes with a new library of new loops that are quite good. As to how many in relation to Nashville I don't know offhand. But from looking at my loops folder it looks like a similar amount.

The Nir Z folder folder has 5.91 MB with 1,513 files in 108 folders. That's about a 10% difference. The Nir Z grooves tend to be 2 bars with some as long as 4 bars. Nir Z is a total monster and has an incredible feel that comes across in the grooves. It's like each limb has a brain of it's own and is telling you something just a little bit differently by the use of subtle accents.

hi Glennbo, I have an old TD-7 stored somewhere in the studio. Haven't use it for years. Maybe if I could by some extra pads I could use it with easy drums. I think I only have 4 or 5 pads, the kik thing and a hi-hat pedal just like yours. Where could I get some extra pads? kind regards joni ORIGINAL: Glennbo ORIGINAL: vicsant Which Roland kit would you guys recommend to properly trigger the Superior 2.0? I use this cheepo TD-6V V-Drums kit. I sold the cheezy cymbal looking pads it came with (which false triggered chokes too frequently), and put the maximum number of dual trigger gum rubber pads (which don't false choke) on the kit. Here's how it works at driving Superior Drummer 2.0 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=403575&songID=6711003 And here's the kit I'm playing the sample above on.

Having installed EZPlayer Pro 1.01 and Superior 2.01: Might any of you elaborate on the 20 Gbytes of Avatar Library , and/or if any of it should 'appear' with EZ Player Pro ? I thought it would have MIDI samples or such for EZ Player Pro and/or EZDrummer. IOWs, Shouldn't there be another Sound Library that appears in EZ Player Pro to pick (MIDI) samples from? Or are those 20Gbytes stricktly S2 samples ....inherent to the 'N.Y. Avatar' in S2? Please elaborate a little on what these 20Gbytes do. Extreme thanks for any of your thoughts!

The 20 Gbytes are S2 samples. The midi files are separate. IIRC, they are in the midi folder on DVD 1. Transfer them to a folder of your choice. Open EZPP and either browse to the folder location or use Win Explore to DnD them into the EZPP browser in the User area.

Extreme thanks Dave; I now see the MIDI Library. (I can't test it because my motherboard died this a.m. ) IIRC, I guess there is no 'formal' EZX Library given with S2 ... that S2 itself ... with its 20GBs of sound samples available ... widdles down to about 500 Megabytes or so of useable samples (in RAM) ... for us tweak freaks to 'invent' library(s) or such.

Remember to watch your RAM usage. It's easy to go crazy with the Room Mics and end up with a kit that 1.2 Gbytes in RAM. That will pretty much bring SONAR to it's knees in an average system. (Like mine) Cache Mode is your friend.

Cache Mode is your friend. Thanks Dave (again); I impatiently read something like that in the S2 manual (which was a bit skippy yet optimistic ) I believe the manual warns of excess drum pieces and "crashing" and/or "harming the computer". Such blatant honesty Toontrack does not go unrespected by me, especially after they drilled the "low CPU overhead of EZD" (in U-tube videos). Indeed, I fried my Dell motherboard this a.m. which I strongly believe was CPU abuse/neglect by unwitting operators (me, myself, etc.). I even continued one project while CPU-lines were consistently in the red (maybe I should start freezing a track or 2, hehe )

The CPU load is pretty thrifty when using the SUPERIOR engine. But there is no way to predict how many Xdrums with effects maybe added into tracks or busses. The effects could add up and bite you, I suppose. I still like placing the effects inside the SONAR structure although the ability to call up presets inside of SUPERIOR is very attractive. It's the RAM requirements of the room samples that I have to watch.

Joni, Greg, I'd appreciate some of your feedback ... as I'm a new S2 EZPP user: I've got a few issues concerning S2 and EZPP at: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1446816 It is a little 'tricky/quirky' for me ... and requires a little experimentation and explanation, even for above average geeks and noobs.

Something worth mentioning: If you're going to be triggering software, nobody does it better than R.E.T. Percussion. They were the first to use drum software like BFD and Superior. Actually, their electronic drums are MADE for it. I play with their Stealth kit... it's an awesome kit for the price and space it takes up in the studio. Check out my videos: www.youtube.com/mikeyvpt I was tihnking about going with another V-Drum kit... but I wanted something that was built for SOFTWARE. I was getting tired of the bouncy mesh and hard rubber pads anyway. Anywho... they are worth checking out, for sure. -mikey

I finally got Superior 2.0 installed and authorized (along with ezplayer pro Can I ask (of anyone using EZ Player Pro) what advantage it provides. I have EZ Drummers (am thinking of going up to Superior 2.0 and/or ADddictive Drums), and thought Player Pro was for triggering MIDI loops similar to audio loops in Sonar's Loop Explorer. If so, the Loop Explorer now lets you test-drive MIDI with whatever VST you want. If that's correct, what would EZ Player Pro add to the "mix" (bad pun intended )? EDIT: OK, after writing the above I read the entire thread and saw Dave M.'s post from last July; good explanation (and will probably be even better when I get EZ Player Pro and start using it!). If there is further information anyone thinks is relevant, thanks for passing it along.

I have to add my testimony of the radness of Superior Drummer 2.1. I am just continuously amazed by how great the sounds are and how much depth there is to this sampler. In fact, I was so thrilled about it yesterday that I spent a few hours writing a review on the software with some audio examples and etc. You can read my review here. I love the bullet microphone and it is almost an essential microphone these days with so much of the music you hear on the radio. Completely awesome!!!
