Hey Janet- Boy you are really branching out musically, and that's great to see... and hear. Also worth mentioning that it takes guts, and I admire you for that. I really enjoyed this piece. I don't do much orchestration, so I don't consider myself qualified to comment on many components. I'll simply say that I truly enjoyed listening to it, and FWIW, I thought you did a great job on this. I guess all the cymbal comments landed, because, at this point I didn't hear anything bothersome there. Keep it up!

opening reminds me of a movie soundtrack... sounds russian to me, and in the middle of winter. i don't know anything about automating midi instruments.... but this is well done. there are subtle things that you could change, to improve it.... studying actual symphonic songs that are similar, Tchaikovsky in particular, and how the sections do their 'swells', might help you dial it in even more... i mean, it's obvious you've already done that... but on a few spots where the swells occur, it either happens too quickly, or not quick enough, i don't know which, but it feels obviously 'man made' (woman......!) and i think this is a very subtle thing that would make a big difference. excellent arrangement and instrument choices, and a nice mix too!

Jim...yeah, I think so. :) Thank you, Phil. My music is SO influenced by the music I listen to. I need to watch more dramas, cause this stuff is fun to do. :) Thank you, Dena. Thank you Danny. I had a movie scene in mind (sorta) so I'm glad you saw it too. :) And yeah, EW's drums are just great. Thanks Bat. Yeah, I don't know a whole lot about orchestration and the different instruments, or even really how to write for an orchestra. This is just what I hear in my mind. Whether it could be played like this realistically or not, I have no idea. I'm trying to listen to more symphonic songs to get more direction. I should do more of that, but I keep getting new ideas for new pieces in my head and can't wait to get them down. lol Thanks again! Thanks very much, BIABd. :) Glad you liked it.

Janet ... but I keep getting new ideas for new pieces in my head and can't wait to get them down. That's rather evident in the picture. Great pic. You can almost see the gears turning, and the notes flying around in your head. I can just see you, moments after the picture was taken, bounding up to the studio to grab the latest idea before it vaporizes.

No, the one at ReverbNation, where the song is. Is that you in your avatar? For some reason, I thought you were taller

Nice one, Janet, but much darker than your usual work. I can tell that you were really looking forward to all that wood cutting. And I'm glad you're on RN, too. I've been boycotting SC lately due to their obnoxious and controlling pop ups.

The opening theme of this one came to me after I watched Avatar. I must have been thinking of one of the 'darker' scenes. I should watch dramas more often. This is rather fun to do actually. Glad you stopped by on RN. I think I'll try to put all my stuff on there. If I can remember... :) Anyway, thank you!

lovely piece!!! I love the spacing...nice "black background"...very nice. for my mixes (and thus for my ears) hi notes (including cymbals) dont get the same db level in the mix as they tend to grab ones attention even if very low...so I always tend to crank them way back...Nuff said on the cymbals I really enjoyed the largeness (is that a word?) of this tune and the mix was tight besides the above. Great job!!

Hi Janet, Great job on this piece! I'm not sure if the cymbal issues have been fixed or if I just can't hear them but everything sounds fantastic mix-wise to me. Love those low parts and the tympani. Really, really great stuff. I seriously doubt you've ever had an enemy, though

Thank you, Mark. This one WAS fun. :) Thanks so much Tom. So those cymbals still need to come down? Well, I'll look into that soon. :) Thanks Gary. Or maybe I'll just leave the cymbals the way they are! lol Glad you like it. I'm not sure I've had a real enemy, but I've had a few people ticked off at me...

Very nice... Janet... You're getting better and better... I used to think I could put together something like this if I wanted to, but now I'm not so sure... good thing I don't want to... Great work...

Thanks Frank. I'm sure you could do this too. You've got talent oozing out of you! :) To all: I made a few changes after Ron listened to it. I'm afraid not as much as he would do cause I just don't understand it all yet. But hopefully it's a little closer.

First let me say that I really liked your cymbals work and the timpani stuff! Practice makes perfect and I think you practice as much as anybody I know (I hang my head in shame of my work ethic) and it's showing. This was really "realistic" sounding to me. I don't know if I could have told it from a real orchestra if I heard it on the radio. (Please, no one tell me that I'm not listening closely or something). Janet, you get better with every project!

Thank you, G. :) M @ B - That's a huge compliment to me when someone listens more than once. Thank you! Thanks so much, Warren. Those timps and cymbals are quite easy to do with EW. Of course, I need to learn more about getting the levels, eq, etc., right, but just making the things is done with the push of a button. I love it! When I first read your post, I thought work? This is play! But then I realized, no, it's often just plain ol' hard work. :) But it's usually enjoyable at least. Thanks again.

Strange and kind of different to hear you play, I really loved the tension sounding lines you added to this. Excellent.

Hi Janet, The composition sounds very nice, Epic :) Only one thing I would wish - more dynamic at the start part (to emphisize the name). Best, Julian

Thank you Julian. That's a great idea actually. I'm not quite sure how I'd accomplish that, but I'll certainly consider it. :)
