+1 on SWIPE TIME SELECTION

BETTER GROUPING FUNCTIONS !! Like select the tracks you want, hit GROUP TRACKS and then all the basic parameters like volume, pan, MUTE SOLO, READ WRITE automation would be linked. Then I would use modifiers to bypass the group when I need to work on a single parameter

Better audio file management tools (a clean audio folder function that should NOT scan the whole computer when you selected the project's folder ONLY... the ability to choose WHERE you want to save your backup copy of audio files... like "copy only the USED audio files of this project in THAT folder, and leave the rest alone..." )

Beter PLUGIN PRESETS MANAGEMENT (please... a copy-paste function) and a better preset management tool... somehow, when I hit Update Preset in the sonitus plugs and then try to import it again in another instance of the plugin, the "older" preset still comes out...

Better automation (fix envelope bugs, other automation read-write-latch modes...) easier copy paste of automation.

Easier AUTOMATION "VIEWS" option (tracks and clip based...) to select the envelopes to be visible or not more easily.

Notation, notation and oh yes notation.

Agree. Guess a lot of us are composers/arrangers who export our sonarfiles to finale/sibelius etc. to continue working on the score.

Would be great to do the scoring inside sonar.

And some more (No doubt some of these already exist)

Copy Track Icons for track/bus to track/bus
tracks / buses   minimize all
Metronome ON/OFF during play/record
change outputs during play
multiple selected Tracks  properties  sends, height
Multiple buses selected   properites:  input, sends, output, height....
SHOW DESKTOP button: maximize the track view for the current project and minimize ALL other windows

setting default track and bus heights   global / project

Clicking   go-> markers  should display a drop-down list of markers by time/name

Right clicking marker: menu: delete, properties for this marker, go marker list

timer recording: Record from now until: a set number of minutes / measures

keyboard on the staff view

STOP windows opening under the windows' taskbar when the taskbar is at top/sides,...

(a clean audio folder function that should NOT scan the whole computer when you selected the project's folder ONLY... )

Use the CWAF (Cakewalk Audio Finder) Tool instead.  It doesn't let you scan a single folder, but at least it doesn't scan your entire system.

You can tell it to scan a single drive.  It still needs an update though.

Where can I get these $20 DAWs?

'Set end point of project here' button.

Options->Global->General: check the "Stop At Project End" box. Will that do what you want?

  1. Add a comment column to Event edit editor to describe midi controllers or sysex
  2. Enable Matrix to output midi to external midi outs
  3. Notation to the standard of Cubase or Logic
  4. Select/deselect multiple controller envelopes to view
  5. Move loop points together left or right
  6. metronome on/off during play/record

I like all of your features except the last one that is already in there. All you need do is have the metronome tool bar visible and click it off.

I don't know how many of us, but I would sure like the ability to "export" a MIDI file instead of stripping out all the audio or creating another project and cut-and-paste.  Something I could select the desired MIDI tracks, like exporting audio works.

Sonar 8.5 Producer Version 8.5.3.282 - Windows XP Home Edition w/all upgrades through SP3 - Windows Vista business SP2 - PreSonus FireBox interface - M-Audio UNO - Behringer UCA202 U-control - ADK ProAudio quad-core 3.2 Ghz overclocked, 8 Gb ram - been with Cakewalk since 3.0 in 1990 ( it was MIDI only...under MS/DOS - computer was 4 MHz :) )

You can now. Just save as MIDI file.

ability to save metronome settings in templates! whenever i start a new project, i have to go and get rid of those annoying metronome default click sounds and switch them both to kick . . . EVERY TIME! i hate those clicks more than anything and would love to be able to un-default them

That's what I do now, after I delete away the tracks I don't want in the Finale target.   That's why I make a separate new project first.

Well if you save as a MIDI file there will be no audio tracks in the MIDI file. Have you tried drag and dropping on to your desktop or into a folder those tracks you want to import into your notation program?

I want a truly stationary cursor.  I use this all the time in Cubase and it is a major reason that I don't use SONAR more often.

Someone said they wanted the metronome button to be able to be turned off and on during playback/record?

Can't you do this already?

Route the metronome through a bus and just setup some automation. or, just hit the mute/unmute?

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

--that's Options>Project>Metronome - any choices you want are available there.

HERE'S MY "WHAT I WANT" REQUEST:

I use the MIDI FX Velocity dialogue constantly when I work.  It's very handy to easily change a selection's velocity level by percentage, for example, retaining the complexity of velocity values but at a different percentage value--changing a section from what's already recorded to 75%, for instance.

BUT have you all looked at those controls in that FX dialogue recently?  You go to do what I just described, and the 100% value is Waaaaay down towards the bottom of the slider that controls the percentage.  Why is that?  How could you ever increase the percentage of velocity values to the 10,000% or whatever it is that the slider has available?  The logical top value would be maybe between 2 and 5 hundred%, because you do want to be able to bring the values up dramatically sometimes - but not to these absurd levels currently available.  Those levels aren't even possible.

The point is that there's this vertical control, but when you use it, normally you are forced to use this tiny bit of it waaaaaay at the bottom.  It makes using that control very fiddley and difficult.  Makes no sense.----But hope this post makes sense.  Know what I mean?

AH--here's another one.  You can do a nice crescendo using this same plug-in, starting with whatever percent you want and increasing to 100% or beyond--but you can't do a decrescendo!---That's lame--Why can't I have a decreasing value of velocities?

Randy,

Try highlighting the notes you want to modify and right-clicking anywhere in PRV.  From the menu, choose "Scale Velocity" (I believe that's what it's called) and a dialog box will open up where you can do exactly what you described.

The ability to use surround VSTs. I'd pay for an upgrade for this alone.

Thought of another one:

Allow user-configuration of an external audio editor (rather than only certain audio editors being available under the tools menu).

There's an option in the global options dialog which is something like, 'stop playback at end of project' that does what you want.

Route the metronome through a bus and just setup some automation. or, just hit the mute/unmute?

Thanks for that suggestion. All this time, I've been stopping playback to click on the metronome during playback button.

The only problem with the mute/unmute method on the metronome bus is that it's not always available in the current view (e.g. when you're in the piano roll). Intuitively, if you're using the floating transport, clicking on the Metronome During Playback button would be the way to go, but this can't be done during playback or recording as jm24 pointed out.

What did you mean by "setup some automation"?

Interesting, that be OK especially if you're working with a small portion somewhere within a measure, but with all the 'flexible snap options' that already exist a clip can be sliced (cut-out) with precision and then easily snapped perfectly into place. The same applies to Midi-events.

So yeah! I don't have to zoom all the way in thanks to those snap options.

Hi SongCraft

I got to agree that the snap options are pretty good but sometimes with softer attack sounds or vocal harmonies it is not always the start of the sound that you want to align, and that's when I'd like the overlap method
