Well, that was a good guess, sitting here with my ipad, sipping a Fri evening beer (or two) 😀

I finished my Tungsten/Mercury Hybrid. I'll see if can get it to DropBox tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with it.

Glad you're digging the theme, guys!

And yes, that took a couple of hours to do. It was a hell of a lot of tedious work and I'm pretty damn fast with a graphics editor. I think there's still a few spots that need to be refined on this to help people really get the most out of it (batch editing being high on my list) but like John said, I'd prefer the Bakers to make killer audio tools first and if they can throw a bit of love towards the Theme Editor's way too when they have the chance, great!

I really appreciate this tool though. When I get a chance, I'd like to add a bit more 3D into Tungsten (or my Blue one - whatever) if I can. I do prefer Mercury when it comes to the look but I'm big on dark themes. That said, I'd love to see someone do an amazing light theme too. I'm sure we have some really talented graphics people floating around the forum!

We have plans for a brand new new light theme but the designers haven't started on it yet.

I found the file. Error was because I had no pdf reader installed.

Does anybody know what the "legends" on the track pane for pan, gain… sliders are called? I was able to find the slider values and change but not the field descriptor for "pan" etc.

Must be a global as "pan" in the cv is the same color.

That's great, Noel, but I'm more of a DC/Batman guy. I like the dark.

Maybe it's great for all the Marvel/Ironman guys, though.

Just find the pdf In C:\program files (x86)\sonar theme editor

Close, the default fully qualified name is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR Theme Editor\SONAR_Theme_Editor.pdf"

Thanks Steve.  I saved it into my PDF folder as well as printing it for my tired eyes to read.

And therein lies the rub: I have no host to upload this to (unless there's way to do this via Dropbox). I'd like to set up Dropbox to let people download my Mercury/Tungsten hybrid as well. I think it looks pretty nice.

Ideas and/or help?

Yeah, my screenshot was put up on Photobucket, but you can use lots of different hosts - Imgur is another popular one.

My theme was just hosted in my Dropbox but to make it easier to share the link, I created a short link using http://bit.ly  (you paste in your sharable Dropbox link and it spits out a short bit.ly link for you to share around).

Easy.

You can use hightail.com for free, but with the free option the files are only up there for a week.

I like postimg.org for image hosting.  Free and non-intrusive.

For file hosting I like box.com.  Also free and non-intrusive.  I also use box for collabs.  You can set up shared folders for people to upload/download to.  It's pretty slick.

The free account at Dropbox works fine too...

I believe all you need do is

Make a public folder and post the link to the folder... Or a link to the file itself... There is a command at Dropbox for share... This will open a dialog exposing a share link... That's what to post here...

I haven't done any sharing lately, but I think this is all there is to it...

I would say it's simple, but daunting. IOW the actual ways to change the colors is easy, but actually deciding which elements to change, how they change, and how deep you want to go, gets you into the weeds pretty fast.

Some things are easy to change, like background colors. Others require working with an image editor. Creating a new theme from scratch is not for the faint of heart, but making a few tweaks isn't hard if you know how to use an image editing program.

The download worked OK and the theme loads OK. I notice the theme properties are not populated. Is that intentional? If not, open the theme in the editor, click on properties to add a description, author and preview image.

Properties are still empty and the file name is now "Mercsten, a Tungsten-Mercury Hybrid theme.sth" which is OK if a little verbose. Since the user themes reside in a themes folder, I think adding theme to the name is redundant. I would still suggest Mercsten.sth might be enough if the properties page was completed for the theme.

That looks really nice!

If I get time, I may eventually do a deep red (like a garnet red) theme or a medium green theme (both over the Tungsten background, tough I may darken that a bit as well).  This was time-consuming, however, and I had to redraw a number of markings on the buttons when the lasso tool seemed a bit rough.

My wife said that I looked physically "drawn" after doing it. I guess I'm a bit obsessive.
