Are these plugs truly brand new, built from scratch? Or were they built from the foundation of the current LP plugs? Just curious. It is not bad either way, I am just a nerd that like to know these things.

New episode is up with a sneak peak at the new mastering plugins coming to SONAR:..

My first thought was "just what we need, an another eq and compressor. I already have Fab Filter Pro and the iZotope advanced 7.

After watching the video though, I'm impressed! Simple things like if you solo what your filtering, you click on the headphones and it stays soloed. With FabFilter you can solo but you have to be careful to keep the pointer on the headphones or the soloing goes away. Bad if you've cranked up the volume while soloing.

Can't wait for this to come out!

1. Really appreciate the detailed video teaching, including not only where to find somewhat hidden controls but also examples of why/how they might be used. This will make the new tools a lot more useful when they arrive. Also very nice to have a video with more useful content and less camera time used up with being chatty.

2. Thumbs up on the strategy of providing a detailed preview ahead of release. Feels like a good way to generate additional interest ahead of the release and also helping us feel like part of the "in" crowd, getting insider information early. Other marketers could learn from you.

I agree totally... I also think it would be GREAT to do detailed vids on each of the pro channel modules...existing stuff is way too cursory... just the other day I perused a discussion within another thread on the concrete limiter from a user wanting to understand it better.  Lots of confusion and, "I think...." and such...  I remain confused... I'm like one of the responders who noted they don't "totally" understand it but use it all the time.

Re: CakeTalk Episode 1 with Joey Adams and Dan Gonzalez 2016/04/13 00:06:58 (permalink)
The Mastering plugs look great and seem to have all the functionality that's been requested. Have there been feature requests for auditioning/soloing bands, and M/S capabilities, or am I making that up? The turning on and off of the Linear Phase, so it can be used in tracking could make it great for a bus eq.Looks like this has deterred any interest I had in Fab filters options.

I was on the cusp of not signing up for another year, but holding off until later in the year. Then I saw the ad for Spring goodies. As Melodyne updated and gave the tempo map an option and seeing a Baker say they could implement that soon, swung me. The melodyne integration and the plugs demo showed they could are exactly what I was hoping they'd be.

Once these are out, hopefully a Dynamic Eq is on the agenda

I agree, great plugs, very flexible and functional. Dynamic EQ would be an excellent addition. Hope at least some existing plugins and instruments, like Boost11 and CSS will receive some overhaul.

Rapture Session can play back Sound Center programs and expansion packs. It also has additional functionality not available in Sound Center.

That is correct, however CSS has some advantages over RSession:
1. Single window interface.
2. Sounds from different libraries have have their corresponding front-cover images, so user can easily tell Cakewalk libraries from 3rd party and even distinguish between different libraries, which is very useful since the default folder structure for CSS programs (including DSF) looks like a mess.
3. CSS has a better keyboard, which displays what keys are mapped in a particular program, and the unmapped keys are greyed out.
Can we at least have a 64-bit version of CSS?

Thank you Cakewalk.

Brand new DSP, brand new UI. These were designed and built from the ground up.
Definitely some of the best plugins we've built and they are super stable and responsive. No glitching whatsoever when automating and changing values or presets. The graphing and the band auditioning features are also top notch. I'm very impressed with them.

I would really value quick demo tutorials like the this for the major plug ins and key features. It was very well done.

Great! So... how early will the Early Release be this month? I could REALLY use those puppies right about now! I've got the first-gen LP plugins in the mastering chain of a major project I'm working on, and would love to replace and tweak before deadline...

Not bad. I found it a little difficult to see the menu's on screen. This would be a great thing to accompany new feature releases as this first episode does.

I'll remember this during editing. It's not hard to zoom in and zoom out to specific menus. Thanks for the feedback!
