Rain Never been there but I've just created an account and I see it's worth it. Kramer's TTT going for $158 - that'll be hard to resist. Where did you see that price? Its $199 at the Waves store.

Well, I've got to say that this is one of the hardest places to download a demo I've ever seen. Maybe this weekend when I'm semi-fresh, I'll try again.

Everybody is so excited about it... I am so sad!!! After 2 years without renewing my WUP, i decided to go for it less than a month ago... I knew that ILok2 was required. So, I bought the dongle directely from Pace and, because i am in Brazil, I payed 3x more than it coasts in America. Now, Ilok is no longer needed. Thats what i call "unfair customer policy".

Mauricio,
Buy Slate's FG-X or VCC which require iLok2. Then it won't hurt so much.

After all, I am a loyal customer, have Mercury, SSL and Studio Classic collection "under my belt"... I have to have things runnig on more than one computer at a time... And, you now, people who uses "AIR" releases of plugins are not very preoccupied about Ilok issues... See you Olpal...

I live for FG-X vs Ozone for "semi-intelligent" automatic mastering. It's tweakable but with really only a few controls. Don't get me wrong, Ozone is a great tool and can be more surgical than FG-X but I'm prone towards FG-X for The CHB tunes (i.e. "progressive" Metal). FG-X is probably not a good choice for country, jazz or electronica.

Waves got back to me with lightning speed: Dear Rocky, Looking in your account I see that you have successfully updates the GTR Solo license to V9. Launch Waves License Center. On Windows, via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > Programs > Waves. On Mac, via the dock icon, or the following path: HD > Applications > Waves > Applications > WLC. If you wish to activate Waves on a USB flash drive, connect it now. For both OS X and Windows compatibility, your USB flash drive must be FAT32-formatted. For more information, click here. Log into Waves License Center using your Waves account information. Your GTR Solo license will be waiting for you on your License Cloud. Under Select Licenses, choose your license/s. Under Select Destination, choose your computer or USB flash drive. Click Send Licenses. Your Waves product is now and activated. Now Sonar should find the licenses and load all your software. I wear it around the house like a kimono and also when we go out to eat. My wife Haaaaaates it. I put it next to my pillow at bedtime in case I get a "fright in the night". I twiggle it constantly and cannot stand for it to be more than two or three feet away from me at anytime. I have to repeat "V-C-C" exactly 162 times before I can have my morning "constitutional". All that is true...but I don't see that as being "enamored". Do you?

Mod Bod Well, I've got to say that this is one of the hardest places to download a demo I've ever seen. Maybe this weekend when I'm semi-fresh, I'll try again. It can be a bit of a pain at first to jump through all those hoops and their servers were under heavy stress when I tried. I figured I would be ok after I finally managed to download their "WOLI" which you need to run to download demos. So when I decided to demo a second product, I simply ran WOLI and installed the plug-in but could not get it authorized. Support got back to me quickly (within 5 minutes) but couldn't really figure out until I realized that you also have to request/activate the demo directly on their site, from your user account. That's one of those hoops I had jump through the first time w/o realizing it. Not the easiest demo to get but the products are definitely worth it.

Those with the waveshell or wavlib error messages, just keep clicking the OK button until the error messages stop popping up. I had to do it about a hundred times. In the end all the plugs will be there and that's that. I eliminated the path to the old 32 bit plugs. All the 64 bit versions are installed and working. On any rescan you do you will probably have to deal with those error messages again but Sonar reads them so they can be ignored on any future scan.

Installed Eddie Kramer's Tape, Tubes and Transistors. ... $199 bucks for the bundle. It's my first Waves bundle, the tape reels (with 3M tape) even spin and the license cloud is very cool (took me a few minutes to understand it but easy to use). The reel to reel is going on all of my drum busses as we speak.

Hi Dave, It depends - but then you knew I'd say that! Start with the Gold Bundle - it provide a couple of compressors and equalizers, and a handful of really cool effects. It's a nice mix of tools. Their "C" compressors are not emulations of anything, they are almost surgical in their abilities, and mind-boggling in their flexibility. Sometimes, you want a one knob compressor, and they have that too, in their Vintage and Renaissance lines. Same thing goes for equalizers - the "Q" series is filters, nothing fancy, but they also have filters with personalities. Doppler, Supertap, S1, Enigma, and the like are all very interesting takes on effects. You'll never run through all the possibilities in a typical lifetime. These are not emulations, just the basic building blocks. Reverbs include algorithmic and convolution, and there is even a lite auto-tune like tool. All in all it is a great starter set unless you are more interested in emulations, I am very happy with my UA emulations, so I have not tried the Waves variety.

I heard in another forum that the Kramer series sounds good but it is more or less genre specific and can be hard to get to sit in a mix. I was steered (because of their familiarity of what I create) toward the Chris Lord Alge collection.

I'd have to agree about the CLA sig set. I couldn't do without it. For most modern rock styles it is just fabulous. I've also got the Maserati which is pretty good and a couple of the JJP series plugs (the percussion and cymbals is very good) I just got the Kramer because it rounds out my collections of signature sets and seems to be great for getting that "old school" sound. We'll see. I'll keep ya posted. But a big thumbs up for the Chris Lord-Alge set.
