May I refer you to #27 and #29 (I do not wish to get into a pointless circular argument).


From what I see you don't have Waves plugins, yet you are peddling this as the same issue with DMGAudio plugins (it may well be but who's code is at fault is to be decided, I have my own opinions as you know). It appears that none of these plugins are hooking in correctly into Cakes VST engine in X3D when it comes to the presets (assuming your issue is absolutely identical to the OPs?), and it also appears I still have two questions that remain unanswered, anyway over the the OP as it's his thread not yours or mine unless you have anything helpful to contribute (an answer to my questions would have been nice but I guess you are not going to supply them).
 
BTW I don't see any point in reconfirming an issue that has already been clearly explained by the OP and confirmed by Bapu (i.e. further testing is not required, not that anything I do should be required).

The best thing you can do it report the issue to your third party developer (in your case the guys from DMGAudio), and again it would still be helpful if you let us know if you did a VST reset (you've only stated you just did a rescan). I am beginning to think you haven't done this as the question seemed to be continuously dodged.

Praise the Lord ! Thanks for confirming at your end :). So that confirms it's definitely a coding issue.
DMGAudio issue however is still not confirmed.

Not only did I reset and rescan, but I also UNINSTALLED X3D and REINSTALLED X3A-C

I restored a "temp music" partition onto a new disk (partition) so I have X3d running on my "main" music partition and X3c running on the temp one. I have various backup images so I restored to X3b and then upgraded to X3c.
 
I don't have any Waves plugins Conley - but I'm having the same "can't save settings" (which really has nothing to do with presets) as you are - AND it works fine (with the VST3 version anyway) in X3b and X3c - but can't retain settings in X3d. That's the only reason I'm here - to see if you get any ideas of how to fix this, and hope they help me too.

if you like please let us know how Audio Damage DMG deals with your issue.

You mean DMG Audio - but of course - I'll scream it from the mountaintops when this gets resolved
AND, I'll copy and paste in to any threads I find with a similar "can't save settings" problem...
 

Alex, you do tend to go OTT with your reset and scan thingy.

I guess we've all got the hint by now. At least i have ;-) but it doens't solve everything.

now that you mention reset and scan, during my original session with my buddy, we opened another project in 8.5 which had auto scan on startup selected. No biggie, the other project opened as expected and we closed it. We reopened that project in X3 and all of a sudden all of the used plugins were missing. We got the missing plugin dialogue and all. We reset and rescanned the plugs and the issue went away.

John, from your third post every single post made in this thread has been a direct attack or a reference on me, really nothing to do with this thread. Please stop it, please stop referencing me, and allow me to contribute where I see fit without having to look over my shoulder every time I post. You are not the forums police, I notice you already made the separation between "Us" and "Alex" from the getgo, something the OP has clearly avoided. It is no wonder this thread has gone off track, and I notice you've just come up with what I suggested ages ago, something you didn't bother responding to as you seemed more concerned with bashing me, my opinions and my advice (which ironically it turns out is what you are now giving) rather than trying to resolve this issue. Alex - let's call a truce. Life is way to short for battles on the Cakewalk forum. You're right - I *have* been picking on you - I tried to resist, but I just saw one "reset and rescan" too many! 
You're right - I'm not the forum police - so please contribute as you see fit (the signal to noise ratio here is kind of low - but whatever...) without any more wise-cracks from me OK?
 
I would just suggest that after a thread gets beyone the basic "try A and then B" stage - it's better to leave it to people actually experiencing the issues involved in the conversation.
 
The only reason I'm here (now that we're going to be at peace) is that I'm trying to gain information from my current problem that could be of use with the Waves problem that was being mentioned here. I've known Conley (well, online anyway) for a LONG time - way back to the cakewalk.audio newsgroups. He's a good guy - so let's both keep the thread on track OK? We can PM if we need to work out any details for our "peace plan" OK?
 
I won't say anything else unless it's directly related to the Waves problem.
 
Can I just ask one thing - in the spirit of good humour? Can we at least keep the running "reset and rescan" joke going? I noticed you even did it yourself in another thread
