Not a module as such, but I think I'd like it if we had the ability to dock modules into the pc that we can drag out/undock where we want (like we do with individual views into the Multidock.)

A small, compressed view in the pc, and a much larger view when dragged out?

+1

I believe the Pro Channel should remain a fully featured channel strip.
Modules to 'expand' this functionality can only be a good thing.
No delays or reverb, no multi-fx, just pure channel strip type stuff =)

Agreed.

Channel Tools was introduced, I think back in 8PE and can be used to place a stereo signal virtually anywhere in the stereo field, even as far as narrowing it to a single point.

It has M/S capability and various other functions.

If you've got X1 you've got Channel Tools, and there's a section in the manual that specifically deals with this plug.

What he said...    It's a great tool for controlling a track's imaging and width.

Which is why I personally feel it would be the best option to add as a PC module.   IOW, the PC is a channel strip, and pan/width is all over that.

Hey I have a great idea.  How about CW make an FX Bin where we could insert almost anything we like (compressors, EQs, Channel Tools, etc. etc. etc.)?

Then we could create FX Chains and they would act JUST like a Channel Strip!

Oh wait -- we can do that now

This gets my vote, think of the flexibility that could be offered with a published standard for plugins such that they could be used in a variety of different platforms and in any order, or number, that the user wanted. I don't think it will happen 'till at least X4, after they've done that maybe they'll do something really freaky and allow users to change the colour and arrangement of elements of the GUI?

My choice would be a kind of chopping /autopan strip as a gate just aint Good enough for extreme chopping /cutting etc, This would make good for us Extremist dance boffins.

Hey, I think you may be on to something...

Seriously though....  I, like others, like the "accessibility" of PC.   It's always in the same location on screen, it's accessed at the same point (vs scrolling for FX bins), it has a uniform "feel" to it while still offering all controls, and most important - it makes the user all that much cooler when used.

Why would you want that as part of a "channel strip"?

You have many choices available now - via VST plugins.

I think eventually the Pro Channel may evolve to a point where there is a standardized hardware map and easy to use dedicated consoles with proper labeling... when that happens the Pro Channel will seem to have some value for me.

In the meantime it sure seems like the efx bin does everything ProChannel does and so much more.

How about a PC Electro Harmonix Vocoder Module with some real cool presets and one big combi knob? Wouldn't that be cool?

I know what you are thinking, i suppose this would all depend on the need of the user, and my point is the less add on vst i use the more stable Sonar will be, after all we have the main channel strips and as you know Pro channel is an extension along with its modules , so why not, add all sort of Modules, stuff like this makes sense to me.
And this effects is so much a major thing for the dance Producer, and why pay stupid ammounts for Complex vst overkill which is still scarce to come across (Izotope stutte edit is the best But to much for the simple on the fly stuff as you need a midi track/carrier to send to stutter, okay to add to a bus for the more complex),alternativly I could use stupid free ware choppers that always crash my system becuase of this X64 Compatability and they are just not quite there in terms of what is possible or what is out their/available for x64 or Windows 7 x32,  most other daws have a plugin for such things but cakewalk aint big on plugins .
So a simple intergration would make my life so much easy after all cakewalk did introduce the complexity of the arpeggiator, so why not a simple Chopping panning Module , i would use it on most Track line or at least have it available and ready to go.
We cant under estimate  the power of such a device, who wants to spend a whole heap of time drawing in these chops/cuts etc .
for me its about getting ideas on the fly then editing them later, oh and i would Presume a module would save a whole heap of CPU being a real concearn and as i mentioned Stabilty, for me and what i understand about Sonar,Sonar has always been Good for the Real Musician, but not the new Generation and i dont mean by age only Creativity wise and what is needed to make it in my world, so More Advancments and fresh ideas in such things are warmly welcomed by myself and by many i would guess.
