dmmi Maybe he contracts out of a mastering studio? I did a bit of a search for mastering studios in his area once and didn't see anything that looked like that photo.

Well in all fairness, with rates at $30 per song, and guarantees like this: With every song that gets mastered by us, you will get a 30 to 50 second audio wave file sent to you for final approval before being finalized. If you have any modifications you want made, just let us know and we will do it. We will continue this process until you are 110% completely satisfied. Who cares where he does it.....has anyone here actually sent him work before scrutinizing?

This is a bit rum, people queuing up to slag a guy off when he's not here. I say good luck to him with his mastering business. It's a lot easier - for me - to respect someone with a bit of initiative having a serious crack at something than it is to respect people who anonymously snipe at them behind their back.

It's a lot easier - for me - to respect someone with a bit of initiative having a serious crack at something than it is to respect people who anonymously snipe at them behind their back. Echoes my own feelings a bit. Many of us here (me first) refer to some room in the basement or whatever as their studio. I'm not endorsing misleading practices, but, so what. If the guy can make a buck and his customers are actually satisfied w/ the results, who cares, really... I've been away for almost 2 years and was actually surprised when I came back to find that, though he still has his rough edges, CJ's gotten much "smoother" - and had drastically improved in terms of typos/spelling, etc. FWIW, I thought he seemed quite helpful - he's one of the few guys who actually spent time on the newcomers forums. Don't know. I don't know the guy, I don't really care who he is or says he is, and what he does. And in the end, if he can't back it up or can't handle the critics, that's his problem. It's just the hostility. BTW, the exact opposite happened w/ Undertow recently when he started questioning someone else's credentials as a pro studio owner. People were quick to gang up on him. Guess they had their reasons. On my side, though I didn't agree w/ everything he posted, that's another guy I thought who had been providing much more positive info recently. Anyway...

If anyone is interested, CJ mixed and mastered several songs for me and had no problem giving me alternate mixes as I needed them. As promised he also adjusted the mix(es) until I was happy with them. He was fair in what he charged, especially if you check out some of the prices from other studios. I would definately give CJ work again when the time comes. Not sure why all the hate on him, I am sure I wasn't the only noob searching these forums and learning more than several things about Sonar from CJ's posts. I would be less concerned about CJ's studio pictures on his website and more pleased that maybe he will bring a little more advertising to Sonar, which is the DAW he uses to mix and master with obviously. This could potentially build Sonar's popularity (even more)...make them money to hire some more people and work on things like staff views and scoring to picture enhancements ..and possibly even afford some colored ink in their virtual X1 printer.

Later and its nice to know you think about me... Actually its scary, but what ever.. Don't be scared, it's just a shock sometimes when reality catches up with illusion. It's a healthy and normal axiom, to see yourself as others do, that prevents us all from being too carried away with ourselves for the long term. See it as a positive growth thing rather than something to be feared. HTH Glad to learn you are well, all the best and lots of luck with your up coming projects.
