@ Brundlefly Question: Is Trk-View customizable in Sonar X1 ... can widgets be rearranged and show/hidden, so when Trk-View is minimized (but not completely) it will show the parameters you want shown? -----end----- The Inspector has always been an essential part of my workflow, most of my workflow is in Trk-View. It's great that the Inspector has been enhanced. I loadeded the image in another separate browser window to get a 'full-screen' view. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5274733738_aae94335b6_b.jpg I like the X1 view, it's clean, uncluttered, can clearly see 'Meters' and 'Track Names', the other parameters can be adjusted in the Inspector (i) .

Also I see that you have all tracks and buses with the same color header. Is this on purpose? Are they unchangeable unlike in 8.5? I believe (?) the main track/bus backgrounds are not independently adjustable in either X1 or S8.5, but maybe you are referring to the track/bus name backgrounds? Because of the issue X1 has with color management, I made changes to my 8.5 color scheme to be compatible with unchangeable colors in X1, and imported them. Since the "rust" colored bus name background didn't import, that's either not changeable at this point, or it uses a different "key" than 8.5 did. I'll have to look into that. I never did a ton of color customization in S8.5. The main thing I always needed was a brighter header background for the "Active" track. Unfortunately, this is one of the things that is not adjustable in X1 by any means at this time. EDIT: I checked the bus name background settings. Both Track and Console view settings show the "rust"color imported from 8.5, but the Console View actually displays a lighter "rose" shade, and the Track View shows the same near-black background color as track name backgrounds. So I think we're stuck with that for the moment. Also, as mentioned elsewhere, we still don't have an Active/Selected bus background highlight.

"It really doesn't matter if some people like the current look... it's draconian to force such an ugly and irritating high contrast design upon the rest of us folks that don't want to decorate in late modern vampire." What kind of B#$%#S statement is that?? Who is 'the rest of us" actually it does matter if 'some people' like the current interface. I prefer this gui over Presonus. I like the current interface, so get over your overblown opinion of yourself :Jazzimprov:

Widget "presence" and order is still customizable, but the horizontal meters and the space around them take up so much room that you can't see them at all in narrow tracks, and they displace many other controls in wider tracks until you get to the pint I showed in the screenshot where only 8 tracks/buses are showing. You just can't "get there from here" in a lot of cases, no matter what you do with your Custom widget settings.

" "We see no responses from the so called users who like the new interface and users want to be able to change the color scheme which they had before." Well, here's one --of many-- I would think. "Cakewalk designed the SONAR X1 UI and it is entirely the intellectual property of Cakewalk. Cakewalk can do whatever it wants to the UI, but changes take development time. FWIW, many poeple do like the UI- me included - and have said so on this very forum. Anytime you overhaul something like this you have to go back and make some tweaks and you do this partly based on what some poeple feel like is missing from the old way. Me too. I always did that first thing on getting an update. An important point. Also are CV tracks and buses hi-lighted when accessed? This was always a problem with Sonar when one uses a CS for track selection. Never mind you answered this above. Thanks. Yes the name background is what I meant. Thanks Brundlefly for answering me above.

I like the current interface, so get over your overblown opinion of yourself Never mind opinions about colors and "cleanliness". You can't get around the fact that X1 is incapable of displaying as much informaiton in the same space as 8.5 in the Track View, and not just by a little bit. To me, that is a significant, material deficiency, regardless of how you "feel" about the new look.

Also are CV tracks and buses hi-lighted when accessed? Yes, but the "highlighting" is in reverse - the Active track is darker than others in the CV, rather than lighter as it is in the TV.

Displacement along with wasted space and below the 'meters' numerical levels are separated (displayed below the meters in X1) thereby taking up extra wasted space, in Sonar 8.5 those levels displayed inside the meters. I can see where improvements in the UI need to be made to X1. -

I'm sure you are thinking you are being helpful with these types of posts gtgarner, ol pal. And, who knows, maybe you are. But it seems to me to be on the same level of rudeness as a response like, "flake off touch hole!" Which, of course, is not the kind of person you are I'm sure. Elsewise I'd suggest you take a dose of your own medicine.

I'm using X1 too. I like it a lot also. But there are things about it which I...and apparently many others...need to be either addressed or explained as to why they were either a] left out, b]changed or c] added for no apparent benefit. This is healthy for Cake and for the user base. Things only get better by critical usage, analysis and feedback. Honest, ol pal. But I'll agree with you...it's a messy, noisy process. But here's a wager I'll make you. I'll bet that after all the shouting, moaning and gnashing of teeth is over with and the patches and fixes are made we'll be left with a program that not only I....but YOU will like better. Shall we say $5 bucks??

What I don't understand is, how is gt using X1 in a studio environment with so many bugs in it? I'm not bashing it, but there are some things that are wrong, that are going to be fixed tomorrow with the patch release or soon thereafter. Or did you somehow magically get the end all be all patch fix before the rest of us gt? You can't say you are using it and loving it when we all know it's not quite working yet.

I fully agree with you, and for the sake of wagering - $5 is good. I am obviously not using the things that are broken. I havent found anything "broken". I suppose I don't care about the size of the console/track strips or the colors, or anything that some folks say is "broken". Its just different to me. The actual DAW works iin all of the ways that I use it. As a matter of fact I used it tonight at church during our Christmas perfomance on 5 songs. It worked flawlessly. The smallest song was 15 tracks of intense frozen Midi pluggins (Ivory, BFD, Chris Heins BASS, B4II Organ...etc) with 5 UA pluggins per song.

Absolutely! Brandon is the nicest of all the CW people on this forum and he is just as nice in person. Though it would be hard to be as good as he is here there are quite a few who are really nearly as nice. I don't want this to go to any of their heads though. So keep it to ourselves.

Yet another thing we can agree on gt. I used X1 all weekend in both a learning and "seeing if I could break it" session. And it didn't crash on me once. It didn't even hang up. But I know for others...Billy Arnell (BAMIDI) for one who is an honest "power user" it has crashed and hung...frequently. So his, and those who have shared similar results with X1, frustrations are completely understandable. I'll tell you the honest truth as of this moment for me...if they would just give us back our color customization I'd be a pretty happy camper. There are a few things other than that I'd like addressed...but mostly minor niggles. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that X1 stays as stable for me in the future as it has this weekend.

garvolt2002 Brendan this is not the way to respond to loyal customers, I feel you are very sometimes very arrogant in your responses lately. Dude, you need to relax. Try some chamomile tea or something. Holy crow. The only complaint I have about the UI is it's bulkiness. Cake said they did it that way for hi res monitors but I don't know of any other software that is so HUGE on my display that "rez'd up" like that. But, I may just be behind the times. My display are several years old. Still it saddens me that I might have to buy at least one new one in order to really get some real estate back. The rest of the UI is frickin' great barring a few wishes (collapsible floating dock!). I'm curious to see Cake haul the rest of the system up to what's already been "X1'd". Minor note: the Audiosnap pallette. The power button is black or white. It's active state should really be bluish instead of white. Sometimes I don't know if it's on or not because I don't associate the color with "active" and it doesn't match anything else in the program. Seems like a quick fix too. I wish X1 shipped with more color themes but I'm not as bothered that less is tweakable. I'm sure we'll see changes over time about it so I'm unconcerned.
