Well, here's one example John. I never touched the strip settings. I noticed in TV that one of my inputs was set for a channel on my sound card. So, I opened up CV to see if any more were. I had previously checked this to make sure they were off and saved the project with them all off. You can see some are set now, plus look at my tracks. I never use narrow strips, I hate them, yet some of them have been changed to narrow without any input from me.

This is the kind of funky behavior I've been seeing in 8.5.3 since installing X1. Snap to grid is totally screwed in 8.5.3 now also since installing X1, so is interleave. I can't bounce/freeze/export a mono track with a stereo effect on it to stereo now. Even if I select stereo in the bounce options, it still comes out mono. This never happened until I installed X1. I'm going to have to do a fresh install again and not let X1 anywhere near my PC until long after people have been using X1b and I get some feedback. I'm a little frustrated at the moment. Ya know, I got all this free time on my hands lately (not by my own choice) and all I want to do is make some music and this is what happens in every single project since I let X1 on my system.

I've been working on this project all day. I shut down to take a break, came back and opened it, and this is what I saw. When I last saved it, all inputs were set to 'None' and all strips were 'Wide'. I never use narrow strips, ever!. Why would I when there's only a few tracks, there's plenty of room left on the screen for everything to be expanded.

This is ridiculous.

Bub I did like the look of the old CV. I don't know what to say. I do get the idea of your frustration though.

Have you tried reinstalling 8.5.3 to see if that helps?

I have never seen a new version of Sonar effect an old version. I can't say I have seen this with 8.5.3 after X1 either but that is because I don't use 8.5.3 much anymore.

I wish I could sit my PC next to someone who doesn't see this kind of thing happen, and go line by line and compare the differences. It's gotta be something in my PC but what on Earth could cause settings like that to randomly change? I could see crashes, ok, we can troubleshoot that to an audio card driver, video card driver, bad RAM, but what on Earth would cause track width and input settings to randomly change? Know what I mean? It's almost like someone has remote access to my PC and is screwing with me. LOL

I have an image of a fresh install with 8.5.3, it will only take a few minutes to restore. I'll probably do that tomorrow.

Great to see progress, really wish Cakewalk would look into the independent snap values. I really have to wonder what they were drinking to think that would turn out ok...

Ammusing though, on some forums people are happy to see their new feature requests put in place; here people are just happy to hear bugs are being worked on...atleast we know X2 will have more attention to detail. ;)

someone said independent snap values are not changed in x1b; it's also worth noting that many bugs in the list are "addressed" as opposed to "fixed"

i think the most frustrating thing is that the new gui - that nobody asked for - has introduced a whole she-bang of new bugs, and yet all the old bugs are still there... i think a lot of folks would've preferrred the effort to be spent fixing the old bugs, though marketing departments never "get" this - to the point where a release will be driven by the already-paid/scheduled advertising window, than readiness

list of stuff

I agree with you... and even more. Now all the years of development and discussions must be re-performed just to get back to where we were... Talk about buying future.... Now everyone has to wait all over again...

...and yes, Someone from Cakewalk did mention that this was going to be fixed/changed, but not expected in this release (X1b).

Luckily, benstat's Sonar Plus helps a lot...
